Resisting Temptation

Troy Jimenez is one of the top managers at Suds Car Wash-Richmond, but is also a huge player. From his constant flirting with customers to him indulging in many of the employees, he loves the ladies, and with his good looks and charm, he knows he can get any woman that comes into his path.

That was until Reece Palmer came into his life.

Reece is everything Troy wants in a woman: smart, ambitious, and sexy as hell. As he tries to find ways to get with her, Reece is definitely not falling for his antics, making Troy wonder if she’s worth the fight.

Or is she?

After quitting her job and abruptly leaving the only city she knows, Reece decides to move to Houston to be near her cousin, Vanessa, her husband, Mark, and their daughter Samantha. She doesn’t know what direction her life is heading, but she knows she needs a job fast. Her cousin suggests she come work at Suds as the new office manager. With the location needing a bit of a facelift, Reece is up for the challenge; little did she know she also need to get the manager in line. In more ways than one.

With the daily theatrics of the business, including bickering amongst the employees, and rude customers, Reece has her job cut out for her; but the real issue is with Troy. She wants to strangle him on a daily basis, making her wonder if her feelings for him are pure hate, or something more.

The constant interaction between the two will make them wonder if there is something more between them. While Reece is trying not to get involve with a co-worker, Troy has even bigger demons to deal with, causing him to finally face them head-on.

Will the two be able to get past their personal issues to see where their feelings are for each other, or will their dilemmas push them further away from what is right in front of them?

Good morning!!! Resisting Temptation, the second book from the Into You series, is now available! The second book of the series chronicles the relationship between Reece and Troy, as they try to resist each other while working at Suds -Richmond.

This book is a bit different from Into You, as Reece and Troy have a love/hate relationship throughout the story, but it does have the same daily issues from Suds- Richmond as it did from Suds- Harrison in Into You.

Here is an extended excerpt from the story as Reece and Troy meet for the first time:

After the three and half hour drive, I arrived in Houston late that night. I was able to unpack and relax before my first day of work at Suds. Honestly, I was nervous about going there, mainly because of meeting Troy. After all of the stories Vanessa told me, I tried not to judge him, but I don’t know if I want to be working for someone that is basically an ass. I have dealt with a lot of men who felt they could control women because they work under them. For me, I’m not going to fall for this man’s antics. Even now, as I was standing in the lobby of Suds, staring at the man who was going to be my boss, I had to admit, he did look good, but I wouldn’t touch him if he was the last man on Earth.

I looked at him, as his hand went through his jet black hair. It was cropped, but was a little long in the front, as he pushed some away from his face. His skin was pecan-colored and smooth. Even from his Suds uniform, he looked as if he worked out. His cocky ass knew he looked good, which was an even bigger turn off for me.

“Is your cousin always so mean?” Troy asked.

“Since I’ve known her.”

Troy gave a wide grin, which didn’t impress me at all. If he’s trying to flirt with me, he’s going to have to try a little harder.

“Are you just going to stare at me, or are you going to show me around the store?”

Jamarcus tried not to laugh as he turned his back to us. Troy didn’t know what to say as he cleared his throat.

“Yeah, let’s go.”

“Cool. It was nice meeting you, Jamarcus.”

He nodded as he continued ringing up another customer.

“Jamarcus seems real cool.” I said as I fell into step with Troy. We were walking down the hall to go towards the exit.

“He is. He’s the best assistant manager I’ve had since I’ve been here, and I have had several.”

He opened the door for me as I thanked him before walking outside.

“Have you been to any of the Suds locations before?” Troy asked.

“I’ve been to the location that Vanessa worked at.”

“As you can see, this location is laid out differently from the Harrison location.”

“I’ve noticed that. The restaurant is in the back and the salon is in the middle.”

“Yeah; but the policies are all the same. We still do the Item of the Month, which you can receive commission on…”

“Wait, wait, wait. Why would I need to know about the Item of the Month? I’m not running the register.”

Troy gave me a cocky grin, which made me a bit irritated.

“Oh, so Vanessa didn’t tell you that you’ll be running the register too. Since I just lost a cashier.”

I gave him the death stare. “You’re joking,”

“I’m not joking. You see Jamarcus running the register, so until you find someone, you have to be a cashier.”

I took a deep breath, ready to kill Vanessa. Of course she didn’t tell me that! She just said I’ll be handling the logistics of the store, not being a cashier!

“Wow, your own cousin just played you.”

“I’m sure she was going to mention it. Eventually.”

Troy laughed. “Whatever. Anyway, let me show you around the facility and then we can go to the office to look over some paperwork.”

I nodded as he walked away from me. I was still stunned about the news he just gave me, but if I have to be both the office manager and cashier, then Vanessa and Mark better be paying me double for doing two jobs.

Once he showed me the facility, we went back inside to the office, where I sat in the seat in front of his desk. He motioned for me to come over so I could stand closer to him.

“You’re not going to be able to see anything from over there.”

“I’m sure I still can.”

“Are you afraid to stand close to me?” He flirtatiously asked.

“I’m not, but I prefer to sit right here.”

Troy gave a cocky grin, which was starting to irritate me. The man might be sexy, but his attitude was very annoying. He’s full of himself, which not going to fly with me.

“Suit yourself. Anyway, everything you need to know about the system will be available on an app which I’ll give you the sign-on for to access. With the app, you can do payroll, reports, and check on the daily sale totals.”

“What about the store bills?”

“That will be in this file cabinet.” Troy said as he pointed to the black cabinet behind him.

“So, who was doing all the paperwork when Rosario got promoted?”

He sighed. “I was, so if you need to ask any questions, then just let me know.”

I nodded. “Okay.”

“That’s pretty much all you need to know, the job is pretty simple.”

“It sounds like it is.”

“Trust me, it is.”

He licked his lips, which made me feel some type of way. One of the things I love about a man is his lips, and Troy definitely has them; but I wasn’t falling for that. He knew what he was doing, so I wasn’t going to play this game with him.

“Troy, if you think that I’m going to be like these other females here, then you’re wrong. I’m here to do a job, not become one of your groupies.”

“Who said that I was dating anyone here?”

I laughed. “You really think I’m stupid? I know all about your after-work, or should I say during work, escapades. I’m here to keep your ass in line, so focus on that instead of mine.”

Troy looked taken aback by what I’d just said. I leaned back in my seat and smiled.

“So, whatever plan you have to get me into your bed is not going to work with me. I’m just here to work, nothing more.”

Troy nodded. “Alright then, Reece. Believe what you want, but it was never my intention to try to sleep with you.”

I gave him an unconvinced look and he shook his head. “Whatever you say, Troy. Now, are there any bills that need to be paid now?”

He shook his head. “They’re all current, unless you want to check the ledger.”

“I would like to,”

He got up as I continued to look at him. Now that I have made my presence known, maybe he can do his damn job. I hope.

If you have not read the first story, it is available only on Amazon:

And of course, let me know what you think of the story and the characters. There will be a third installment of the series, which will be released in 2019. 🙂

Coming Soon!!

Hey everyone!! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! So, I have taken a few weeks off from writing to focus on some personal stuff, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t been brainstorming on some new story ideas.

While this story is still in the beginning stage, I decided to do a sequel to Into You, titled Resisting Temptation. This story will be a little similar to its counterpart, but it will take place at a different location with a new set of characters. You will get to find out how Vanessa, Marc, Simone, and Enrique are doing as the heroine of Resisting Temptation, Reece, will be Vanessa’s cousin.

I think this story will be a bit risque, but also still have the romance that all of my books have. The relationship between the main characters will slowly turn to romance as the two struggle with their feelings for each other. If you enjoyed reading Into You, I think you will really love reading how the relationship between Reece and Troy develops in Resisting Temptation.

Here is the cover as well as the blurb below. Thank you, Melody from Ebook Indie Covers for the hot cover. I love it!

A release date will be announced soon for this story, so stay tuned. 🙂

10 Things You Didn’t Know About The Something Just Ain’t Right Series

11269743_889731371085327_2987598505973829642_n

Hi everyone! The “10 Things You Didn’t Know” feature continues with the Something Just Ain’t Right series. Since this is my recent series, many of you are probably still familiarizing yourselves with the characters and the plot lines; but since part 3 will be released soon, I decided to give them now since majority of the things are from the first two stories.

With this series, it was a little different from my other ones, mainly since this was the first series through a publisher and because it’s considered an urban series. Honestly, this series is not really urban (in my opinon); it’s mainly an Interracial romance story with a bit of suspense. I pushed the envelope with this series, which I really enjoyed doing. 🙂

Now, going from #10 to #1, here are the things you didn’t know regarding the series:

10. The story was originally going to be strictly romance: Before I signed with my publisher, this was going to be an indie release and it was going to be similar to Our Love, where the main characters dated other people. Since Morgan was considered a man-whore, I was going to have him go through a whole bunch of women and potentially cheated on Hayley too. I’m glad I didn’t go with that concept.

9. Paula was going to be one of Morgan’s “conquests”: Yes, I was going to have Morgan sleep with Paula. Glad I didn’t go through with that either!

8.Thompson University is fictional: Majority of my stories have fictional towns, but I always incorporate Houston in the story (I always will for every story I write). Although I said Thompson is an hour away from Houston, I never indicate exactly where the college is located.

7. Kyle was never going to be included in the story: Kyle was a last-minute decision for me because I never intended for Morgan to have a brother. But in part 3, there will be another change that you all will be shocked over.

6. Hayley and Kyle were going to sleep together: Yep, Hales was going to cheat on Morgan- with his brother. And there were going to be consequences from their actions; but you all don’t have to worry because that won’t happen. Hayley loves Morgan too much.

5. Morgan was going to be the one shot: SPOILER:For those of you who have not read part 2 yet, please skip to #4!!! It wasn’t going to be Hayley that was shot at the end of part 2, it was actually going to be Morgan!

4. Lamar was not going to watch his sister have sex: The video scene was never going to be included in the story, but to add a little shock value, I added it.

3.Hayley was going to have a miscarriage: With this story line, I didn’t want to do it, mainly because I couldn’t write the scene. I felt it would had been unfair to Hayley and Morgan, especially since the two have been through so much. There’s no point in adding more turmoil into their lives.

2. The story was inspired by basketball: To a certain extent. I was watching my favorite team, the Houston Rockets, when the idea came to mind two years ago. If anyone noticed with the dream cast post, I chose Chandler Parsons as my inspiration for Morgan. Now, you know why (he was playing with the Rockets during the time).

1. The title for the series changed: The series was originally titled, Resisting Temptation, but when I submitted the story to my publisher, they thought the title was not catchy enough; so they thought up “Something Just Ain’t Right.” And that was how the series was created.

With the title, I always think about the Keith Sweat song from the 80s. In case you’re not familiar with the song, here it is:

There are the 10 things you didn’t know about SJAR series. The third and final story will be released soon. Once I receive a release date, I will announce it here! 🙂

Excerpt: Something Just Ain’t Right

Happy Sunday! Since Something Just Ain’t Right will be released this Saturday, I decided to give an excerpt from the story.

The relationship between Morgan and Hayley will be a little different compared to the other couples you have all read about in previous books, but they will have the same passion and intrigue just like all of the other couples.

One thing I can say with Morgan is that he’s starting to become one of my favorite male characters (he’s on the top of the list with Shawn, lol). All I can say is that you all will love him. 🙂

The excerpt is the first chapter of the story and it’s from Morgan’s POV. I might post another one before the release on Saturday.

Enjoy!

“Are you seriously going to do this right now?”

“Do what? I told you before we came in here what my intentions were. You agreed to them, so I thought everything was straight.”

The girl, Chelsea, Cecilia, whatever her name was, gave me an impatient glance before pulling down her skirt. I didn’t know what her deal was, but I told her point blank what I wanted right now, and striking up a conversation wasn’t one of them. I glanced at Carrie–that’s her name – taking in her medium-length honey blonde hair, smooth auburn-colored skin, and knockout body that I wanted pressed up against me, but I guess she had other ideas. When I told her I wanted to have some fun, I thought she automatically knew what I meant. I thought wrong.

“Listen, if you think I’m just going to give it up to you right now, you’re sadly mistaken.”

“Hasn’t stopped most girls before,” I said with a sexy grin.

Carrie shook her head and sighed.

“I’m not one of these girls you’re occasionally with on campus. I have more respect for myself than that.”

“Maybe so, but I think you wanted to see for yourself what girls say about me.”

“Get over yourself, Morgan” she told me, going to the door and opening it.

I sighed and put on my shirt. Oh well, it didn’t matter. She wasn’t the first girl and definitely wouldn’t be the last. I knew I should stop being an ass towards women, but to be honest, I couldn’t help it. I just wanted to have fun and not be tied down to anyone. I mean, was it a crime to feel that way? To my knowledge, it wasn’t, so why should anyone else be upset about it? The only concern I had before graduating college was living my life, and if that included banging every female at Thompson University, then damn it, I would.

Maybe there was a reason why I felt this way. No, it didn’t have anything to do with a relationship that went wrong or a girl cheating on me; it’s just the fact that I hadn’t met anyone worth committing to. Most of the girls I’d dated were just like me, only wanting to have fun and not be tied down. But, of course, I was the one looking like the man-whore. My mom thought so, and even my best friend, Lamar thought so. I never really understood why Lamar would think that when he was the same way. Well, he was until he met his current girlfriend, Tamara Morris. The two met during our sophomore year at Thompson, and she automatically turned Lamar into a whipping boy. Nothing was wrong with that, but it wasn’t my style.

I walked over to the mirror near the dresser and looked at my reflection. There could be one girl who could make me change my ways, if I wanted to. Hayley Stevens. Hayley was the definition of perfection. Smooth, creamy skin the color of brown sugar, black natural curls that I want to twist my fingers through all day and night, and her lips. Full, thick lips that I want to suck and kiss on for eternity. Did I mention that girl had a banging body? Yes, she definitely did. I couldn’t help but notice how her hips were shaped in her favorite jeans or her long legs walking past me when she wore her signature baby doll dresses. She oozed sexiness without even trying. She just naturally was.

I shook my head, trying to shake my thoughts of her. I opened the door and saw her and her friend, Paula Howard, walking towards the stairs. She looked at me with a confident smile and pushed her curls away from her face.

“Hey, Morgan,”

“Hey, Hayley. I didn’t think you would be here.”

“What, I can’t be at a Kappa party?”

“Well, you know how Lamar is.”

“Well, what Lamar doesn’t know won’t hurt him, right?” she asked, giving me a flirtatious smile.

I stared at her, thinking how sexy this girl was. I knew she was flirting with me, and being the man that I am, I could probably use it to my advantage, but I knew I couldn’t. Not with her.

Paula looked at us and sighed.

“Let’s go, Hales. Bye, Morgan,” she said, pulling Hayley along as they went downstairs.
I exhaled and put a hand to my chest. Damn, I wanted her, but I knew if I pursued her, it would only cause trouble.

I could have any girl at Thompson University, and I almost did, but there was one girl I couldn’t have, and that was Hayley. The reason? Hayley is my best friend’s sister.

I also included a teaser from the story:
