(Love, Life, & Happiness, #5)
Publication date: November 12th 2014
Genres: New Adult, Romance
From the first moment I’d laid eyes on Shawn Walker, I never thought he would be the love of my life. In the three years we have been together, we have been through so much, and I couldn’t imagine anyone else I would have wanted by my side. Now, we’re about to experience another event that has us both in shock. Will we be able to get through this one together, or will it end up destroying our relationship?
I never thought I would experience love again until Riana Robertson entered my life. The two of us have been through hell and back, but we’re still standing. Now that I’ve graduated Shaw and heading into the real world, I have a lot of responsibility, not just for myself, but for my growing family. With all of the issues surrounding Riana and me, will we slowly lose sight of the love we have for each other, or will it strengthen us as a couple?
Our Love Is One
As the evening sun sets upon us
I see a vision to behold
Your beautiful eyes can make me melt with one glance
Your smile alone can make my bad days disappear
The love I have for you is evident
As I look upon your face
With one look
And our passion ignites
Drawing me near to you
Losing myself within you
As I caress your beautiful face
All the fears you had are now gone
All the worries you had have been erased
All the tears you shed are slowly fading
Because of my love for you
One look into each other’s eyes
One touch on each other’s skin
One kiss upon each other’s lips
And we are forever connected
Our heart has become one
Our love has become one
And will always be one
Now and forever.
In the three years Shawn and I had been together, we had our share of ups and downs. But through the good and the bad, we’ve stuck by each other, and our experiences helped us grow; not just as a couple, but as individuals.
I knew the two of us could get through anything together. Especially with the love we had for each other. Now and always.
Where did the idea of Love Always come about?
Love Always is the fifth book in the Love, Life, & Happiness series and it’s the second book for one of the couples, Riana & Shawn. The story takes place three years after they met and it shows how much their relationship has evolved. They been through so much in their relationship and now, they have an even bigger test they have to endure. It will show whether their relationship will become stronger or will it destroy them.
With the series, each book was devoted to a couple and their journey to happiness. Why were two books written about Riana and Shawn?
Although I love each of the couples in the series, there were so much more to tell regarding Riana and Shawn. Their relationship is very special and unique that I had to do another story on them. Also, readers of the series love these two and wanted to have an update; so another story was born.
Since this is a part of a series, do you need to read the first four books?
Not necessarily. This story does provide enough background for first-time readers to understand the storyline and the couples; but it would be more beneficial if readers read the first four to see the journey each couple (especially Riana and Shawn) went through to understand where they are now in their relationships.
What was your favorite part in writing Love Always?
I have various scenes that are my favorite with Love Always. In fact, I love the entire story, because it shows how powerful love can be. Also, this book is important to me because it’s has some real-life elements to Riana and Shawn with myself and my husband. Some of the lessons this couple has been through was similar to some of the situations my husband and I faced at their age, so it brought back various memories during my college days a few years ago.
Will there be any other stories coming soon from the series?
Yes, Actually, Love Always was supposed to been the final book in the series, but I couldn’t let these characters go; so I decided to write one more story, titled Redemption. This will be a novella and will be from one of the most hated (but misunderstood) characters from the series, Nathan. Several questions will be answered in this story, so hopefully everyone would understand his point of view on some of the situations that has occurred between him and with several characters.
What are your future plans?
Along with Redemption, I am working on a new series titled Resisting Temptation. I am also working on a spin-off from the Love, Life, & Happiness titled Simply Love. Both series will be available next year.

A little late, but chapter 19 is now available…
After the evening they had together, Riana wanted to stay in bed with Shawn and enjoy the moment they had shared. Even though she was going through so much with him and Marcus, her heart was still with Shawn and she realized that what she was doing with Marcus was wrong. She wanted to save her relationship and be the devoted girlfriend she once was to the man she loved.
She watched Shawn as he got dressed, which made her heart flutter. She shook her head, realizing all the horrible things she has done and wished she could take them back.
How could I have been so stupid? she thought.
Shawn walked over to her and gave her a kiss on the cheek.
“You sure you don’t want to stay here and go for round three?” he asked while kissing her neck.
She smiled. “As tempting as that sounds, I think we need to go out. We can’t stay in the apartment forever.”
“Who says we can’t.” He continued to give her kisses down her neck and chest.
“We can always continue when we return.”
“Definitely.” He said. He smacked her ass, which made her smile. “Where do you want to go anyway?”
“I was thinking the movies. We can catch that new action flick if you want.”
“On Valentine’s Day? That’s the first.”
“I feel like watching something different.”
“Fine by me.” he said, giving her a sexy grin.
Her heart fluttered again. Yeah, she was stupid to have cheated on him.
Once they got ready, they headed to the theater. They purchased their tickets and were inside going to the concession stand when the two saw Britney and Marcus ahead of them in line. Riana gave a nervous glance as she watched the two.
Britney looked over at the two and gave a tight smile.
“Hey.” Riana said.
“Hey, Ri. Shawn.” Britney said. She seemed nervous around him, which made Riana raised her eyebrow in curiosity.
“Hey Britney. What’s up bro?” he asked.
Marcus smiled, giving a quick glance at Riana before grabbing hold of Britney’s hand.
“I see you two had the same idea, huh?” Shawn asked.
“Yeah; we figure the restaurants will be crowded, so we took a chance on the movies.” Britney said. “What movie are you seeing?”
“The new action flick with Vin Diesel.”
“We are too. If you both want to, we can sit together inside.” Marcus said.
“No, we just want to spend some time together, if you don’t mind.” Shawn said.
Once Shawn said that, Riana gave a sigh of relief. She did not want to sit by Marcus in a dark theater.
He moved his hand down Riana’s body, stopping at her ass. He gave her a light squeeze, which made her release a tiny moan. Marcus stared at the two, anger growing inside of him as he watched his brother be with Riana. Since the time they have spent together, he realized that he was falling for her. That was something he never thought he would experience, but with Riana, it was easy to have feelings for her.
Britney looked at the two with a disgusted expression. She couldn’t believe how they were behaving. It was immature and pathetic.
“Well, we’ll catch you two later.” Shawn said. Riana smiled and the two went to the room. He gently grabbed her hand, which made her smile.
After tonight, she knew what she had to do. She has to break things off with Marcus. Soon.
Donnell pulled up into a parking space in front of his apartment anxious to see Monica. He asked his supervisor if he could leave early to spend the last few hours of Valentine’s Day with her. He knew that crushed her that they couldn’t spend the day together because of work, but his job is short staffed so he had no choice but to work his shift.
He went up the stairs, with a dozen of red roses and take-out food from her favorite Mexican restaurant, Los Hermanos. He knew once she saw the items, it would put a smile on her face.
He carefully opened the door and went inside the apartment. He was a little surprised it was dark since Monica said she was going to be there. He turned on a lamp near the TV to discover an empty apartment.
“Monica.” He called out, going to the bedroom. He checked there and the bathroom, which made him worried.
“Where is she?” he asked.
He walked into the kitchen and saw a note on the counter. He picked it up and read it. His expression changed from worried to shock at what he was reading.
He went to the couch and slowly sat down. After everything they have been through and she decided to pull this? He asked her countless times if everything was okay and she lied to him, saying it wasn’t when all along she wanted out.
He balled up the note and threw it on the floor.
After all I have done for her and this is how she repays me? he thought.
He grabbed the dozen roses and threw them across the room, landing on the counter before falling on the floor. He picked up a picture of the two from the coffee table and threw it against the wall, watching the frame shattered before falling on the floor.
He began to pick up items that were nearby and threw them across the room. He was pissed that she would do this to him. He has done everything to make her happy, but it wasn’t enough for her and he was tired of it.
After throwing another frame against the wall, he stopped since he knew his neighbors were probably calling the cops on him. He felled down on his knees, upset and sad that she left him. Instead of facing her fears head on, she took the coward way out and left. Although they have worked out their issues in the past, he can’t continue to take her back. This time, their relationship cannot be repaired.

Good luck everyone!!!
Hi everyone!!! I was able to finalize a couple of dates for my new releases. This will be for all the books I’m releasing for this year. The dates may change, but only if there is a MAJOR issue. If so, I will definitely provide a reason if that ever happens.
The Wedding, Part I (Camille & Trevor): May 14th (This is to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the release of In Love With My Best Friend)
The Wedding, Part II (Tia & Charles): June 20th
Unconditional Love (Jayden & Britney):July 5th (The release date is also my birthday!!)
The Way We Were (Monica & Donnell): September 10th
Love Always (Riana & Shawn): November 19th
Resisting Temptation (Hayley & Morgan): December 17th
Also, when The Wedding, Part II is released in June, make sure to check out the end of the book, because there will be a HUGE announcement 🙂
I originally wrote this post back in January, when Love Unbroken was recently released, but I decided not to post it, until now. The reason being is because I didn’t know whether it would receive a positive reaction; but I really want to get readers’ opinions on this, so I decided to publish the post. So, here it is…
As an author, I know I’m not always going to get positive reviews. There are going to be some readers who will not like my work, so that’s not an issue. In fact, sometimes a negative review can be a great way for me to know my mistakes and correct them accordingly for my next book. With this issue, I’m not sure if I should even discuss it, but I guess I will.
There were a couple of comments from readers stating how much sex Riana and Shawn were having in the story. If anyone who read any of my previous books, you would know that this is the first book that featured love scenes, and to be honest, I was hesitant in even writing them. Now, I didn’t think this would cause such a huge issue, considering that is something two people do when they are in love. I don’t know if the issue is because they are college students (who are adults), or because of the nature of the scenes.
If anyone ever read a New Adult novel, you would know that majority of those books will have sex scenes, so I’m not sure why some would feel upset that there were so much included. Now, maybe I did put in a lot of scenes, I don’t know, but I believe it didn’t take away from the story and the love they had for each other. They’re attracted to each other and in love with each other. What’s wrong with that?
All in all, people are entitled to their own opinions, so I will leave it at that. For anyone who has read Love Unbroken, please tell me what you think. Were there a lot of scenes between Riana and Shawn that were a bit unnecessary, or were the story just right? For me, it was, but I would love to hear from you all regarding the story.
Also, I hope I’m not offending anyone with this post. I truly appreciate everyone who spend their hard earned money to purchase and read my books (I’m also an avid reader, so I completely understand).
Until then, happy reading!!
Hi everyone!!! The next four chapters are up, as Monica receives shocking news, Cheryl and Chris take their relationship further, and Riana and Shawn admit their feelings for each other.
As everyone was going on with their lives, no one noticed that the beginning of the semester was now at the middle, and midterms were approaching. Riana was in her room typing a term paper on her computer, when Cheryl walked in and headed towards their closet.
“Where are you going? Shouldn’t you be studying for midterms?”
“Yes and no. I’m going to study, at Chris’ place.”
“He has his own place now?”
“Yeah; he couldn’t take it anymore with his roommate, so he called the RA and moved him to a private room.”
“Cool, but how did he swing that? We’re in the middle of the semester.”
“I guess he has connections; how this look?” Cheryl asked. She pulled out a Carolina blue sleeveless dress.
“Don’t you think it’s a little cold to wear that?”
“Whatever.” Riana said. She started to type away on her paper.
“I’ll be back by 11.”
“Fine,” Riana said while looking at the computer screen.
Cheryl goes over to her dresser. She started to talk while going through the drawers.
“I know I’m going to sound crazy, but I’m concern about Monica.”
Riana stopped typing and turned around to face Cheryl.
“She hasn’t been herself lately. In fact, she hasn’t insulted me in three days.”
“She has been kind of passive lately. I was thinking it was because of midterms, but Mon’s not the type to worry about things.”
“You think something is going on with her?”
“If there is, she could talk to us about it; we are her friends.”
“Whatever it is, I think she wants to deal with it on her own.” Cheryl said. She gave Riana a smirk and goes to the bathroom to change. Riana saved her paper and walked out of her room.
While Riana and Cheryl were talking, Monica was in the bathroom looking anxiously at the plastic tube staring in front of her. She didn’t want to look at the slip but she had to.
Time should be up. I have to find out sooner or later.
She looked at the tube with a determined look. She stared at the two blue lines and almost fainted. The tube slipped out of her hand and fell on the floor with a loud thud. Monica fell on her knees on the bathroom tile crying hysterically.
Cheryl was on the other end of the bathroom door waiting for Monica to open up. After waiting for two minutes, she was wondering if she was okay.
“Monica! Monica, are you okay? You’ve been in there for a while.”
Monica was still on the floor crying harder than before.
Riana walked over to the door and stood beside Cheryl.
“She still hasn’t come out? She has been in there for almost an hour.”
“Something is seriously wrong. You know how I feel about Mon, but even she is scaring me right now.”
Riana started to pound on the door with her fist.
“Open up Mon! We need to talk to you.”
There was no answer.
“Come on Monica! We’re concern.” Cheryl said.
“Stand back.” Riana said to Cheryl.
Cheryl went towards the wall while Riana stepped back a few feet from the door. She ran to it with force, causing the door to come open.
Riana and Cheryl walk in and noticed Monica on the floor with her head on the toilet. She was sitting there with a spacious look on her face.
“Mon, are you okay?” Riana asked.
Riana walked over to Monica and tried to sit by her in the small bathroom. Cheryl went over to the bathtub and sat on the edge.
Monica looked away from the two and stared at the wall.
“Monica, we noticed how you been acting lately and we’re worried about you. I know things been hectic with us since school started, so it’s understandable how you’re feeling, but I know something else is bothering you. You know you can tell us.”
Monica looked at Riana and Cheryl and started to cry again.
“Ah sweetie, you’re scaring us. What’s wrong?”
“I’m pregnant!” Monica yelled.
Riana looked at Monica and shook her head. Cheryl sighed and put a hand on Monica’s shoulder.
“We’re here for you¸ Mon.” Cheryl said.
Riana looked at Cheryl and smiled.
“I can’t believe this is happening! I was trying to be so careful and now I have a baby growing inside of me. How can I raise a child? I’m a college student working at Sack and Save! I barely have money to pay rent let alone raise a child.”
“You’re not alone. Cheryl is right; we’re here for you with anything you need.”
“Thanks guys, but this is my concern. I’m not saying that having a child is a problem; I would love to have kids, but this is not the time for it.”
“Do you know who the father is?” Cheryl asked.
Riana looked at Cheryl in disbelief.
“That’s inappropriate Cheryl.”
“It’s okay. I’ve been sleeping with Donnell, but we’ve been using condoms the whole time. So the only person is Malcolm. We didn’t use protection that night.”
“Damn Mon! You have to Donnell.” Riana said.
“Have you even told him about Malcolm?” Cheryl asked.
“No, he doesn’t know.”
“After two months! Mon, how could you keep this a secret since August?” Riana asked.
“And how come you just now realizing you’re pregnant?” Cheryl asked.
“I don’t know. I haven’t been having symptoms until now. I’ve been having regular periods.”
“First, you have to tell Donnell everything. Since you’re just realizing you’re pregnant, it could be a possibility that it could be his.” Riana said.
“And what if it’s not? This could destroy everything that I have with him. If this baby is Malcolm’s I don’t know how things will be.”
Riana put her arms around Monica and gave her a hug. Cheryl looked at the two and sighed.
Monica buried her head into Riana’s chest and started to cry all over again.
Britney was back living under her parents’ roof. After much begging and pleading, she was able to get her old room back. She didn’t tell them the real reason why she moved back home. She just said that they lost their apartment due to late payments.
After what happened between her and Isaac, she completely cut all ties with him. He continued to call her various times throughout the day that she had to change her.
Good thing he doesn’t know where my parents stayed.
She felt so bad because she didn’t know what an asshole he was. She wrecked her friendship with her best friends over him.
How dumb could I be?
She was sitting at her desk looking at her computer screen in a daze. She had a midterm paper due the next day, but her mind wasn’t on it. As she started to type on the French Revolution, her phone began to ring. She picked it up and hit the talk button.
“Hey Britney, it’s Riana.”
All the color drained from Britney’s face. She haven’t heard from Riana since the day she kicked her out of the apartment. She seen her and Cheryl on campus, but they just gave her smug looks and walked past her. Monica was the only one who would say hi to her.
She sat down on her bed with a surprised look.
“Hey Riana. How are you?”
“I’m not calling to chat, Britney. I’m calling about Monica.”
“Is she okay?”
“Yes and no. She found out she’s pregnant.”
“Wow. How is she doing?”
“She’s okay physically. Mentally, she’s a wreck. She’s distraught because she doesn’t know who the father is. She has her mind set on Malcolm because they had unprotected sex, but it could be a possibility that it’s Donnell’s.”
“Can I talk to her?”
“She finally went to sleep, so she can’t talk, but I was calling because maybe you could come by. I think it would really cheer her up if she saw you.”
“Sure, I’ll come by.”
“Okay. I’ll make sure not to be here when you do.”
“You don’t have to avoid me. It’s your apartment.”
“I’ll probably be working on my journalism project, so you could come by. I better go.”
“Okay. Thanks for calling.”
“No problem. I figured we were friends at one point. I thought you needed to know what was going on.”
“Riana, I want to apologize about Isaac. I’m sorry that we’re not friends anymore due to my involvement with him. Now I know that he’s wasn’t worth losing my friends over.”
“Don’t you think it’s a little too late for that? Bye Britney.”
Before Britney could say anything else, the phone went dead.
Britney sighed and put the phone on her bed. She lay down and looked up at the ceiling.
“If you only knew, Ri. I’m so sorry.”
Cheryl was now at Chris’ dorm room studying for their literature midterm. She was looking at her book unable to concentrate.
How can I? she thought. She looked over at Chris who was sitting on the bed busily looking through his notes. It took all of her strength not to go over to him and throw him down on the bed and kiss him.
Chris put his book beside him and stood up. He started to stretch, showing off his muscled arms and six-pack abs.
“I’m taking a break. You want anything? Soda, water.”
“Water’s fine.” Cheryl said, walking over to the bed.
Chris went over to his mini fridge and got two bottled waters from it. He walked back to the bed and handed Cheryl one.
“How’s everything going at the apartment?”
Cheryl laughed and took a sip of water.
“Things are about the same. Everyday it’s always some drama. I feel like I’m living in a soap opera.”
“What’s going on now?”
“Where should I start? Monica found out she’s pregnant.”
“And that’s not all. She doesn’t even know who the father is. She thinks it’s this guy she had an one-night stand with, but it could be a possibility that it’s Donnell’s. So she’s a wreck right now.”
“That’s messed up.”
“I know. I know I had my share of problems with her, but I know she’s scare right now. Just the idea that she’s young and have enough to deal with and now she have this person growing inside of her. She doesn’t know what to do or who to go to. I can’t imagine what she’s feeling right now. That’s why I told her that I would be there for her if she needs someone to talk to.”
“That’s great. You are putting your feelings to the side to help her.”
“Have you talked to Britney?”
“That bitch can stay gone. I’ve seen her around campus. I even heard that she broke things off with Isaac.”
“At least she came to her senses.”
“It’s a little too late for that isn’t it?”
Chris nodded and decided to move to another topic.
“Do you understand what’s going to be on the literature midterm?”
“I think so. I hope I do well since this will determine our final grade. I can’t believe after all those assignments we done that only the midterm and final exams will count as our grades.” Cheryl said.
“I know.” Chris said.
Cheryl didn’t want to talk about literature or about her roommates anymore. She wanted to get to know Chris.
“Let’s talk about something else. I’ve known you for a few months, but I still don’t really know you.”
“Okay, I can tell you a little about myself. As you know, I’m 20 and was born in Dallas, but moved to Houston when I was 10. I have one sister who’s a senior in high school. Resse and I were inseparable growing up. We did everything together. We got into a lot of trouble too. When I met Shawn, he was later included in our clique and we got into even more trouble. We had a lot of fun growing up. I guess that’s why Shawn and I are so close. He’s like the brother I always wanted.”
“Okay, I told you a little about me, so what should I know about you?”
Cheryl looked straight into Chris’ eyes.
“Well I grew up here in Houston, and I have an older brother and sister, making me the youngest. Out of the three, my parents always stood me out from the others. It’s not like they loved me more and them less, but they always treated me differently. They considered me to be their rising star. I’d always done things through my parents’ eyes. I tried to make them happy by doing the things they wanted me to do, but it just wasn’t enough. And when I wanted to do something that made me happy, my parents would always shoot it down, saying it wasn’t for me. Take my major for instance; my dream was not to be a psychologist. In fact, I hate psychology, but it was what my parents wanted me to do. My dream was to become a doctor. I remember when I was younger I used to put on this white robe and pretend that it was a lab coat and make my stuffed animals be my patients. I used to love playing “doctor” on my friends.
“I remember when I was graduating from high school and I told my parents what I wanted to major in. You know what they told me? They said that ‘it’s not for me and that it’s not their dream for me.’ You know how much that hurt me to hear that from my parents? They are supposed to be the people that support you on everything. I guess I was wrong on that one.”
“No, you’re not. Parents are supposed to be there for you, no matter what; but your parents are making decisions they feel are best for them. You can always change your major from psychology to pre-med.”
“I know, but I can’t.”
“Because they’re paying for my tuition. I figured since it’s their money they can say what they want.”
“That’s not true.”
“Don’t you think I know that? I know I should stand up for what I think is right, but I can’t. They’re my parent and I love them. I don’t want to hurt them.”
“I understand that, but when are you going to stop making them live your life? Cheryl, you’re 20 years old. You have to start living your life for you and not for your parents.”
Cheryl looked at Chris and tears started to flow down her caramel cheeks. What Chris said was true and she waited for years to let everything that was built up in her to finally come out.
“Cheryl, I know you love your parents, but you have to talk to them and tell them how you feel. You can’t keep this bottled up.”
“I know. Before I came to Shaw, I had my heart set on joining a sorority. I told my mom about it and she said I shouldn’t waste my time on a sorority. She made me so angry that day because I felt I didn’t have a mind of my own. It hurt me so bad to know that my mom did not care about what I wanted to do or how I felt.”
Chris’ heart went out to Cheryl as she was pouring her feelings out to him. He wished he could take her pain away by telling her everything will be okay, but he know it’s not.
He put his around Cheryl and she put her head on his chest. She felt good that she told Chris what she kept inside of her for years. She was glad he was there for her.
“I do feel better.” Cheryl said. “I kept my feelings in about my parents for so long. I haven’t even told Ri about them.”
“Really? Why not?”
“I don’t know. I guess I felt it was best to keep it to myself.”
“So why you decided to tell me?”
Cheryl smiled as she touched Chris’ chest.
“Because I feel safe with you.”
Chris looked at her and put his hand on her heart. He noticed how fast her heart was beating. She was just as nervous as he was.
Ever since he met Cheryl in their literature class, he quickly became intrigued in her. From the time they have spent together, he started to develop feelings for her that he never felt for anyone. He didn’t know whether to tell her how he felt, but he couldn’t control his feelings anymore.
“What’s wrong?” Cheryl asked.
“Cheryl, I can’t deny what’s going on between us anymore. I really like you and I want things between us to go further.”
She looked at Chris with a surprised look.
“I believe you’re beautiful inside and out and I really think you like me too.”
“How can you tell?”
“I can tell in your eyes. The way you look at me. I know you want me just as much as I want you.”
Cheryl became teary-eyed all over again.
“Why are you crying?”
“Because it’s true. Ever since I seen you in class I wanted to be with you. I didn’t know you felt the same way.”
“Well I do.”
The two looked at each other, no longer resisting their desire. They gave into the feelings they had built up in them for two months. Cheryl lay down on the bed as Chris stared at her. He moved his hand down the side of her body as Cheryl touched his cheek. She shivered with delight from his touch. She pulled Chris towards her and kissed him. She lifted up his shirt, taking it off in one swift move. Chris sighed as he got up from the bed.
“We can’t do this. Not right now.”
“What are you talking about? I’m wet just thinking about you inside of me. We both want this,so what is the problem?”
“It’s not that. I just want things between us to be perfect. I don’t want us just have sex. I want to make love to you.”
“But you will.”
“You don’t understand. Usually when I’m with a female, I don’t care what happens or who I hurt; as long as I get mines. You are so special to me, that’s why I don’t want to hurt you.”
Cheryl tilted Chris’ face to hers and looked straight into his brown eyes.
“You could never hurt me.” she said softly.
Chris opened his mouth to speak, but Cheryl wouldn’t let him. She put her lips to his and kissed him softly. The two lay down on the bed. Chris reached over to the lamp near his bed and turned it off. He was still able to see due to the light shining through from the outside.
“I still want our first time to be special. So let me set something up and you can keep your pretty self right here.” he said.
He kissed Cheryl on the lips again and went to get some candles.
While he was doing that, Cheryl decided to make herself comfortable. She slipped out of her sleeveless dress and put it on the floor. She took off her bra and panties and laid them on the floor as well. She lay across the bed completely naked in the moonlight.
Chris walked back over to Cheryl and stood in front of her in amazement. He couldn’t believe the beautiful sight in front of him was the woman he was falling for.
“Am I dreaming?”
“No, you’re not.”
“I have to do one more thing.” he said. He went over to his stereo and put a CD in. He walked over to Cheryl, laying back on the bed as he pulled her closer to him.
“I need to ask you something?”
“Are you a virgin?”
Cheryl smiled. “No, I’m not. Why you thought that?”
“I don’t know. You just look so innocent.” he said while stroking her hair.
“I may be goody-two-shoes, but I do have a freaky side.”
Just the thought of Cheryl saying those words made Chris hard.
“You’re so beautiful.” He said, kissing her neck.
Cheryl closed her eyes as Chris slid down to her chest. He took her breast into his mouth. Cheryl moan as he moved his tongue around the nipple. He smiled as he moved his tongue to her other breast. He went to her stomach, kissing her navel. He looked up at Cheryl with a sexy grin. He moved his tongue between her legs, causing Cheryl to moan excitedly.
While Chris was doing the job right, Cheryl didn’t want to scream since she knew people would hear her. Instead, she bit her lip.
As he was putting his tongue in place Cheryl couldn’t imagine, her entire body was suffering from convulsions. She couldn’t help the loud moan that was coming from her lips, letting Chris know she was about to come. He pulled away from Cheryl, going towards her face.
“I want you. Now.” Cheryl said.
Chris kissed Cheryl’s cheek and went into his nightstand drawer to pull out a condom. He slipped it on and gave Cheryl a kiss that melted her insides. He slid himself inside of Cheryl with a moan that sounded good to his ears.
Cheryl sighed when she felt Chris inside of her. She glanced at him with a look of desire in her eyes. As Chris began to move inside of Cheryl, all the feelings he had for her were showing with each thrust. Cheryl clawed Chris’ back, moaning softly from his movements. As their feelings for each other intensified, they felt emotions they never experienced with other people.
Not caring if anyone was listening, Cheryl let out a piercing scream as she held on to Chris.
As soon as Cheryl came, so did Chris, as he stared at her. The two kissed each other passionately as he pulled Cheryl close to his chest. The two snuggled against each other as they fell into a deep sleep.
The next morning, and Riana was getting ready for her class. She looked over at Cheryl’s bed and realized she didn’t come home last night.
I guess she spent the night at Chris.’
She went to the bathroom and began combing her hair when Monica walked in.
Riana looked at her and smiled.
“How are you feeling?” Riana asked.
“Like crap. This morning sickness is horrible.”
“Eat some crackers; it should help.”
Before Monica could say anything else, she went to the toilet and began to vomit.
Riana looked at Monica throwing up and left the bathroom.
As she walked into the kitchen, she heard key jingling and the door opening. Cheryl walked in, closing the door slowly. She was hoping no one was up or have already left. She looked up and saw Riana in the kitchen. She immediately cursed to herself, immediately heading towards her room.
“Good morning Cheryl.”
Cheryl turned around and gave Riana a bright smile.
“Isn’t it, Ri? I thought you would have left by now.”
“I will. So I see you stayed at Chris’ last night.”
“Yeah. We didn’t finish studying until late so I just spent the night there.”
“Did you sleep with him?”
Cheryl looked at Riana and smiled. “Why would you think that?”
“Your dress is inside out.”
Cheryl looked down and realized the tag was showing in the front. She looked up and went into the kitchen.
“And what if I did? Ri, I never felt this way about a guy before. Chris is one of the nicest, sweetest guys out there and I’m so grateful that he’s in my life.”
“That’s great, but you barely know him. How are you going to sleep with him if you haven’t given a chance to know him?”
“I thought that too, but last night was so special. I thought it was the perfect moment for me and him to take things further.”
Riana looked at Cheryl and went back into the kitchen.
“I know that look, Ri. You think I’m going to get hurt. I’m not, so you don’t have to worry.”
“I know how you are with guys. If one thing happens and mess this up between you and Chris, it’s going to destroy you.”
Cheryl put her hands into Riana’s and smiled.
“Ri, I appreciate that you’re concern about me, but I’m a grown woman and I can take care of myself. If things between Chris and I don’t work out then it’s my problem and I would have to handle it, okay.”
“I guess so.”
“Thanks, cuz. Now what about you and that fine friend of Chris’. What’s his name again? Oh yeah, Mr. Walker I believe.”
Just hearing Shawn’s name made Riana blush. While working on their project together, Riana started to develop feelings for her partner. She wanted things to go further between her and Shawn, but she’s afraid she’ll get hurt again.
I don’t know if I can go through that pain again.
“What’s going on between you two? I know you’ve been working long hours on your journalism project.”
“Yeah, we’re almost finished.”
“I’m not talking about the project, girl. I’m talking about what’s going on between you two?”
“Nothing. We’re just friends.”
“Come on; I’ve seen the way you look when someone mention his name. Even now you’re blushing.”
“I know. I do like Shawn, but I can’t go through another relationship. I can’t go through the pain I’d suffered with Isaac.”
“Shawn wouldn’t hurt you like that jackass did. Isaac is a piece of shit that didn’t deserve you. Shawn is nothing like that. I’d seen how concerned he was when you were in the hospital. Anyone could tell that he really care about you.”
Riana sighed and sat down on the couch. She put her head in her hands and shook her head to clear her mind. She knew what Cheryl was saying was true. He has been sending her signals, but she tried to ignore them. She knew that Shawn wanted her.
Just like I want him. But I can’t let him in my heart. Not right now.
“I know he does, but right now, I don’t think I can get into another relationship.”
“I understand about what happened between you and Isaac. I know he hurt you, but when are you going to forget about him? You need to move on Ri. That’s the only way you are ever going to be happy. Now that I said my piece, I have to get ready for my midterm.”
“Okay. I’ll see you later.” Riana said.
Cheryl smiled and went into their room.
“I hate when she’s right.” she said.
She grabbed her backpack and went out the door.
Instead of having a midterm in their journalism class, Professor Williams wanted her students to work on their projects, so Riana and Shawn spent the entire morning interviewing students over their topic and getting their piece together for their story. After working nonstop, the two decided to take a break. They were now at the student lounge drinking slushes and talking about their other classes.
“How you think you did in your other classes?” Riana asked.
“I think I did pretty well. I mainly had to write papers through.”
“Me too; it was cool of Professor Williams to let us work on our projects instead of having class.”
“Yeah; I think out of all my instructors, she is the best.”
Riana smiled as she sipped some more of the thick drink.
“I can’t believe we’re drinking slushes when it’s forty degrees outside.” Shawn said.
“I know, but they are so good.” Riana said smiling.
“You heard Chris and Cheryl are officially a couple?” Shawn asked.
“Yeah; I think it’s great. Chris is a nice guy and Cheryl needs someone like him in her life.”
“Chris is my boy, so I’m happy for him. He’s like my younger brother.”
“Speaking of brothers, you never told me about him. Why I never see him when I come over?”
“He’s been pretty busy with work lately. I hardly ever see him anymore. I’ll introduce you to him one day.”
“What are you doing for the rest of the day?” Shawn asked.
“Nothing. Journalism is the only class I have today.”
“You want to go back to my place so we could get this story to editing?”
“Sure, let’s go.”
The two got up from their seats and left the student lounge.
When Shawn and Riana arrived at his apartment, they immediately went to work. They put together everything they got from the students they interviewed from the past couple of days and this morning. While Riana was sitting on Shawn’s couch writing her dialogue for the story, Shawn was sitting in an armchair nearby looking at Riana work. He loved watching her work. She looked serious as she looked at the piece she just written. She didn’t like what was printed, so she balled it up in her hands and threw it on the floor.
Damn, she’s sexy.
“Why are you staring at me?” Riana asked.
“I wasn’t staring at you.”
“Yes, you were. I can tell when someone is staring at me.”
“If you can tell someone is staring at you, then you should have noticed me watching you for a while now.”
Riana looked at Shawn and smiled.
“I knew you were, I was just waiting on when you were going to say something.”
Shawn smiled and goes over to the couch. He sat beside Riana and grabbed the notebook she has in her hand and placed it on the coffee table.
“What are you doing?”
“We’ve been working since we got here. I think we need to take a break.”
Riana sighed as she lean back on the couch.
“I guess you’re right.”
Riana suddenly started to become tense in her back. Shawn noticed her shrugging her shoulders.
“Mind if I give you a massage?”
“Not at all.”
Riana faced the TV while Shawn began rubbing Riana’s shoulders. He lowered his hands down her back, gently applying pressure in areas that were tense. The feeling Riana was experiencing was sensational and she didn’t want it to end.
Shawn glanced over at Riana and noticed her eyes were closed. He knew she was enjoying it so he was doing a good job.
“Are you enjoying it?”
“Yes. How did you learn to do massages so good?” Riana asked in a satisfied tone.
“No one really taught me. I just know a female body and how to satisfy it.”
Riana opened her eyes and turned to face Shawn.
Riana sighed. After having his hands on her made her think what else Shawn can do.
“What are you thinking right now?” Shawn whispered.
“A lot is going through my mind.”
“Like how much I want to kiss you.”
Shawn stared at Riana as he put his hand on her chin. He lift her face to his and stared into her eyes.
“What are you waiting for?” Riana asked in a seductive tone.
Shawn smiled as he slowly moved his lips to Riana’s. Even through the two kissed before, this time it was something they both wanted. The two kissed each other slowly, savoring every moment. The two pulled apart and smiled at each other.
“That was nice.” Riana said.
“Yeah, it was.”
“Shawn, there’s something I have to tell you.”
“Ri, I have something to tell you too.”
“Can I go first please?”
“Ever since I saw you at the club, I wanted to know more about you. It was something about you that made you different from other guys. You helped me through so much these past few months and I just want to say thank you. If you didn’t pull me from that bar, I could have been raped or even killed. All the times we spent working on this project helped me get through my breakup with Isaac and being around you helped me realize that there are still some great guys out there.”
“You’re welcome. I was just helping a friend out.”
“You consider us more than that now, do you?”
“Yeah, I do.”
Riana stood up from the couch and went over to the window. She looked out at the crisp, beautiful day wondering what the hell she was doing.
Shawn went over to Riana and wrapped his arms around her.
“Do you feel that way about us? Or you just think we’re friends?”
“That’s the thing. I don’t know what to think. We only known each other for two months, and I feel like I want to be with you, but I can’t.”
“I don’t want to be hurt again. I gave everything to Isaac and look what he given me in return. A broken heart.”
“You think I’m going to do the same?”
“I know you won’t. You’re a great guy, but my heart needs to know that I’m not going to get suck into something that I can’t control.”
Shawn turned Riana around to face him. He gave her a look that took Riana’s breath away. He looked so sincere and concern that she knew right then that he was the right deal.
“Baby, you are so important to me. You may think I’m bullshitting you, but I’m not. I need to tell you something that may shock you a little, but I hope it doesn’t scare you.”
“What is it?”
“Riana, I had a crush on you since the first day I lay eyes on you last year on campus. I always wanted to talk to you, but at the time you were dating Isaac, so I didn’t want to stand in the way of that. I guess that’s why the night at the club when I saw you I wanted so bad to talk to you, but I could tell your heart was with Isaac.”
Riana couldn’t believe what she was hearing. How she didn’t pick up on the fact that Shaw had a crush on her for so long!
“Wow, this is amazing.” Riana said. She went back to the couch and sat down slowly.
“I didn’t mean to upset you, but I had to tell you. I wanted you to know how I feel.”
“So at the club, was spilling your drink on me was on purpose, or just pure luck?”
“Pure luck. I didn’t know it was you at first until I started talking to you. Maybe it was a sign for us to be together.”
“I don’t know what to say.”
“You don’t have to say anything. I just want you to know that I want you in my life, and I will wait for you as long as you need me to. I’m not going anywhere, baby, so you probably have to get used to me being around you.”
Riana started to laugh, but she knew Shawn was serious.
“I’m sorry I’m laughing. You’re pouring your heart out and I’m sitting here laughing.”
Shawn looked at Riana and gave her a kiss so beautiful it didn’t matter how silly Riana was acting.
“What does this means?”
“It can mean whatever you want it to be.”
“Okay, but we have to take things slow. We can’t just jump into things.”
“That’s fine with me.”
“And we can’t have sex.”
Shawn looked at Riana as if she lost her mind.
“We can’t have sex. Even though I want to; believe me I do, but I made a vow to remain a virgin until I’m ready. I guess that’s why Isaac went to Britney since I wouldn’t give him any. He hated the idea of me waiting to have sex. I hope that’s not a problem. If it is, then maybe I’m not the girl for you.”
Shawn wondered if he could go a long time without sex. He was one of those guys who got sex when he wanted, however he wanted. But as he look into Riana’s eyes and seen the look of innocence in her, he knew what he had to do.
“I’m willing to make that sacrifice with you. You are so precious and if that’s what you want, then that’s fine with me.”
“You could be saying that now, but how I know you won’t get tired of me and find some girl who is willing to give you what you need? I can’t compete with that.”
“Ri, I said I will support your decision. I’m not like other guys who cheat on their girlfriends and I certainly will not mess up anything I have with you for some piece of ass. I will like you no matter if you’re a virgin or not. You don’t have to worry about me leaving you. Besides, I think it’s wonderful that you’re saving yourself for the right person. Losing your virginity is something that needs to be cherished and shouldn’t be taken lightly. I’m proud of you for sticking to your beliefs.”
“No one has ever said that to me before. Usually when I tell a guy I’m a virgin, they don’t want anything to do with me.”
“I’m not like most guys. I think it’s great.”
Riana kissed Shawn on the cheek.
“You know, this conversation is turning me on.”
“I’m glad it does; but remember, you’re saving yourself.”
Riana laughed as she playfully hit Shawn on his shoulder.
“Can I ask why you want to save yourself?”
“I guess it just something I believe in. I always thought it was best for the person I know I’ll be spending the rest of my life with. I always thought the man I love should be the one who appreciate my body and not someone who don’t give a damn about me. I look at Monica and Britney and even Cheryl and wonder is sex really everything? I can imagine it feels good and you can get so much pleasure from it, but after it’s over, what else is left? Most men my friends been involved with didn’t care about their feelings, they just wanted what they had and was through with them. I don’t want to go through that. I’m not saying I’m waiting until I’m married, but I just want to know that the guy I’m giving everything to will be with me for the long haul.”
Shawn put his hands in Riana’s and smiled.
“That’s why I would never hurt you. I will be by you no matter what.”
Riana touched Shawn’s cheek.
“So, since we’re not having sex, what else can we do when we’re alone?”
“I think we can find some other things to do to keep us occupied.”
“What you have in mind?”
Shawn caressed Riana’s shoulders, which sends tingles throughout her body.
“You’ll see.” He said as he put his lips to hers.
The two begin to kiss as they lay down on the couch. Shawn lifted up Riana’s shirt as he planted kisses onto her stomach. He unzips her jeans as he moves his lips towards her navel. He slowly takes off her jeans and panties and spread her legs. He immediately began to move his tongue between her legs, making Riana lean her head back on the couch and breathe heavily.
She was glad that Shawn understood where she was coming from. Most guys believed a girl shouldn’t stay a virgin while in their 20s, but Riana was determined to. But how the way Shawn was making her feel at that moment, she didn’t even know if she could believe that theory herself.
Monica was pacing back and forth in the living furiously biting her fingernails. She just talked to Donnell and he was on his way over. He noticed she been acting strange lately and wanted to know what was wrong. She told him to come over so they could talk. Now she was nervously wondering how she was going to tell Donnell she’s pregnant and the fact that he might not be the father. As she took deep breaths, she realized she felt more nauseated than earlier that morning.
“Please God, help me get through this.” She prayed.
As soon as she opened her eyes, the doorbell rang. Monica stopped dead in her tracks and tried to regain her composure. She went to the door, took another deep breath, and opened it. Donnell was on the doorstep looking finer than ever. He gave Monica a kiss on the cheek as he walk into the apartment.
“Is everything okay? You didn’t sound too good on the phone.”
Monica closed the door and gives a tiny smile.
“I’m fine, baby. Did you want anything to drink?”
“Nah, I’m good.”
“Okay.” Monica said. She goes over to the couch and sits down besides Donnell. Her mind was telling her not to tell Donnell about her cheating on him, but she knew she had to.
“What did you want to tell me?”
Monica took Donnell’s hands in hers and looks straight at him. The nauseated feeling she was having before was coming back in a major way and she thought she was going to throw up in Donnell’s lap.
“Whatever I’m going to tell you, you have to promise me you will not get upset.”
Donnell looked at Monica with a confused look on his face.
“What’s going on Mon?”
“I have two things to tell you. The first thing is that I’m pregnant.”
Donnell’s face suddenly became pale from the news he just received. He couldn’t believe what Monica just told him.
“You’re pregnant! But how? We were careful every time.”
“I know, but I am. I’m two months actually. I went to the doctor today.”
“Why didn’t you tell me sooner? I could have gone to the doctor with you.”
“I know, and I’m sorry. I just thought I needed to do this on my own.”
“Why? You know I would have been there for you.”
Monica got up from the couch and started to walk around the living room. She didn’t want to look at Donnell. Just the idea that she cheated on him was bad enough, but being pregnant by another man who didn’t care about her was even worse.
“There’s more. Remember the night when we all went to the club and you had to work?”
“Yeah; what about it?”
“I met someone that night. We talked and had a few drinks…”
“You’re not saying what I think you’re saying.” Donnell said.
He went over to Monica and turns her around to face him.
“Please tell me you didn’t.”
Monica turned away from Donnell with tears in her eyes.
“I can’t lie to you. I can’t.”
“You cheated on me? With a complete stranger!”
Monica started to cry while Donnell went to a wall and put his fist through it. The noise startled Monica, causing her to jump.
“Why, Monica! Why did you have sex with another man? I thought everything between us was going so well! What made you do it?”
“I don’t know! I can’t explain what happened that night.”
“I knew you would fuck up again! After all those times I’ve took you back, you still let me down. And the things I have done for you! How could you do this to me?”
“I’m sorry Donnell. I didn’t mean to hurt you.”
Donnell looked at Monica as if she was crazy. He couldn’t believe she would stand in front of him and tell him that. After all the late night working and going to school, he didn’t need the added stress of her doing whatever she wanted. And now she’s pregnant and don’t even know who the father is!
“This can’t be happening.” he said.
He ran a hand through his bald head and gave Monica a look that scared her half to death. Monica never had seen Donnell look so angry before. Even the times when he found out she was cheating on him with some of his friends, he never looked at her like he wanted to kill her.
“I’m guessing you slept with him raw, huh? If you’re going to creep on me, you should have had the decency to use a condom! How the hell I know you haven’t given me a disease from all your whoring around!”
Monica never felt so low in her life. Not only did she hurt the one man that made her special, but now, she felt alone. Even Donnell wouldn’t stay with her. Not after what she done to him.
“I wish I could say something to ease your pain, but I can’t. If I can take back what I’ve done I would in a heartbeat, but I can’t. I have to live with the fact that this child I’m carrying could be a result from a one-night stand that I met at a club! This is not how I wanted my first child to be conceived from. I wanted it to be conceived with love, not from some night where I just wanted to get laid!”
“Oh, and that’s my problem! I thought you said you would never cheat on me again. Being the fool I am, I believed you. I tried to make things work between us, but you were the one who kept messing it up. Sure, I’ve done my dirt too, but not as much as you.”
“I understand that, and I’m willing to change if you let me.”
Donnell laughed at Monica.
“How many times have I heard that? When are you going to learn Monica? You’re 20 years old and you’re still playing childish games. Now you’re bringing a baby into this. I should have listened to myself and stayed the hell away from you when I had the chance, but I figured you’ve changed. How dumb was I to know it wasn’t true.”
“I’m so sorry.” Monica said in between tears.
“I don’t know why you’re crying? You brought this on yourself. I don’t feel sorry for you. Who I feel sorry for is the child growing inside of you, because they don’t know what’s going on. If the baby is mines, I will take care of it because I’m not some dead beat dad, but don’t expect me to be with you. I can’t be with you anymore, Monica. You hurt me too many times and since you dropped this on me, I definitely can’t be with you.”
“Donnell, please don’t do this! I need you more than ever now. I need you to be here for me and the baby!”
“I can’t. I will be there for the baby, if it’s mines, but I can’t be there for you. Why don’t you call the guy you fucked that night? He’ll be glad to know he could be the daddy.” Donnell said.
He went to the door and opened it. Britney was about to ring the doorbell when Donnell threw the door open. He walked past Britney and went towards the parking lot.
“Hello to you too.” Britney said.
She looked at Donnell leaving and wondered what was going on. When she went inside, she knew right away. Monica was on the floor crying her eyes out.
“Oh, Mon.” Britney said.
She ran over to Monica and sat beside her. She put her arms around her.
“He left me!” Monica said in a fit of tears.
“I know. It’s okay Monica; you have me and Ri. We’re here for you.”
The two lay on the floor wondering how their lives became so complicated.
Riana and Shawn were in Shawn’s bedroom cuddled up watching television. Riana felt as if she was in heaven. Being in Shawn’s arms felt so good she didn’t want to leave out of them.
Shawn looked at Riana and kissed her on her cheek. He couldn’t believe his dream girl was in his bed snuggle up next to him. Even though they didn’t have sex, it felt good to be in each other’s arms cuddling together.
“This feels so good.” Riana said.
“I still can’t believe this is happening.”
“Believe it.” Riana said as she kissed Shawn’s neck.
“How did you like my performance earlier?” Shawn asked.
Just thinking about Shawn’s tongue between her legs made her moist.
“It was great. Hell, it was excellent. Besides, I thought you knew how I felt when I came.”
“I know; I just wanted you to say it.”
Riana laughed and grabbed a pillow from under her head. She hit Shawn in the head with the pillow. Shawn laughed as he grabbed his pillow and the two started a pillow fight.
Shawn snatched Riana’s pillow and the two fell on the other side of the bed. He lay on top of her as he pushes some hair from her eyes. He looked at her for a second, mesmerized by her beauty. He leaned into her and kissed her on her lips. Riana returned his kiss while moving her hand down his back.
“You made me so happy today.” Shawn said.
“I never thought I could find someone like you. Now I know that dreams really do come true.” Riana said.
Shawn kissed her again and smiled.
“Are you hungry? I could order a pizza.”
“You don’t want to leave either, do you?”
“Why would I? I have everything I need right here.”
“Besides food.” Riana said while laughing.
“Okay smart ass. I’ll go order a pizza. What do you want on it?”
“Pepperoni with cheese, and maybe some Canadian bacon.”
“Okay.” Shawn said.
He kissed Riana again and goes towards the armchair for his cell phone.
While Shawn was ordering the pizza, Riana’s cell phone started to ring. Riana went to her purse and tried to look for it through the sea of mess that was occupying the inside. While she was still looking for it, the tone of Kem was filling the room as Riana finally found her phone. She pressed the answer button.
“Hey Ri.” Britney said.
Why I didn’t look at the Caller ID without answering? Riana thought.
“What do you want?”
“I’m at the apartment visiting Monica. You have to come home. I think Monica maybe in trouble regarding the baby”
“She told Donnell everything. He was really upset and stormed out. I found her curled up on the floor crying hysterically. All of a sudden she couldn’t breathe. I called her doctor and she told me that Monica cannot be under any stress at all.”
“Why you didn’t take her to the hospital?”
“Her doctor told me would be fine if she calmed down. She told me Monica has a high risk pregnancy and that she can’t be under stress. If she is, she could go into premature labor.”
Riana sighed and ran her hand through her wavy black hair.
“What you want me to do Brit? Is Mon okay now?”
“She’s fine now. She’s sleeping on the couch.”
“Okay, I’ll be home soon. Thanks for being there for her.”
“She’s still my friend, Riana; just like you are.”
“I’ll talk to you later.” Riana said.
She hung up the phone and put it on Shawn’s nightstand.
Shawn stared at Riana and put an arm around her.
“Is Monica okay?”
“She is now. She had some problems earlier regarding the baby. Brit said that Monica has a high risk pregnancy and if she’s under any stress, she could possibly miscarry.”
“Wow. Whatever you all do, you have to be there for Monica. More likely, Donnell knows what happened, otherwise she wouldn’t be under stress. As her friends, no matter what is going on, you have to put your feelings aside to help Monica.”
“What does that supposed to mean?”
“I meant with you and Britney. I know you haven’t squash what happened. I know what Britney did was wrong and she should have gotten her ass kicked for it, but from what I know you two have known each other since you were little. You’re going to let some guy come between you and what you mean to each other?”
“Britney messed up when she slept with Isaac.”
“I understand that, but why do you care now? You’re with me, so what difference does it make what Britney done?”
“I would have never thought Britney would do this to me. We’re supposed to be friends. Friends don’t do that to each other.”
“I know, but you have to let things go in order to move on. I’m not saying you should become friends again, because that’s not my place to say whether you should or not, but at least forgive her for what she done. Maybe she didn’t realize what she was doing or she did, but just got caught up in it.”
Riana looked at Shawn and started to scream.
“This is so frustrating! Honestly, I want to patch things up with Britney, but I can’t get pass the fact what she done. I can’t trust her anymore and it kills me to say that because she’s been my best friend for years. It hurts because we should all be here in that apartment helping Monica out the best way we can. I miss her and I want her back in my life, but I can’t risk letting her back in.”
“I completely understand, but look at us. Before today, you were scare to get into another relationship because you thought you might get hurt again, but you took a chance with me. Why can’t you do the same for someone you known your entire life?”
“It’s not that simple.” Riana said while staring at the wall.
Later That Evening, and Riana and Shawn walked up to Riana’s apartment to check on Monica. As Riana opened the door, she noticed Britney was still there watching Monica sleep.
“Hey; how long has Monica been sleeping?”
“A while now.”
Riana went over to Monica and laid a hand on her forehead. She sighed and looked at Britney.
“Thanks for being here for her. I know she really needs someone here, especially after what happened with Donnell.”
“Mon is my friend. I’ll always be there for her.”
Riana looked over at Shawn. He nodded.
“Can we talk for a second?” Riana asked Britney.
The two goes outside and closed the door. They walked down on step and sat down on the iron stairs.
“Listen, I know things between us haven’t been the best lately.”
“I know; I wish things between us can go back to the way it was, but I know it’s not.”
“Things will never be the same between us. We were the best of friends, but now we barely speak to each other.”
“And it’s all my fault. Ri, I didn’t mean for any of this to happen. I guess I got caught up in being in love with Isaac that I didn’t realize I was hurting my best friend. I know you don’t want to hear this, but I’m so sorry for everything. I’m really am.”
Riana sighed. She waited a moment to speak, but she couldn’t find the words to say.
“Are you going to say anything?” Britney asked.
“Frankly, I don’t know what to say. A part of me wants to forgive you and become friends again, but the other part feels I can’t trust you anymore. I missed you so much as a friend because you have been there for me through so much, but I can’t get pass the fact that you was with Isaac. How do I know you won’t do it again with Shawn or with some other guy I date?”
“I won’t betray you like that again Ri. What happened between Isaac and me was horrible and I feel terrible about it. If I can take it back I would in a second, but I can’t. All I’m asking is to please forgive me for what I’ve done. I missed you and Monica so much it hurts. You two are my girls and I can’t imagine living my life without you two. You’re my sisters.”
Riana looked up at the sky and shook her head. All the things Britney was saying were so genuine and kind, but she don’t know if she could accept it.
“Now that I look back on everything that has happened, I look at myself and wonder what was I thinking? I lost two of my best friends and I hurt the closest person that was like a sister to me over some guy that wasn’t even worth it.
“You know that Isaac was cheating on me too. I found him with another girl the day you kicked me out. Not only that, but he hit me too. Not only is he a cheater, but also abusive. I feel so bad because after all I said and the actions I took for him wasn’t even worth it. All along I should had listened to the people that cared about me the most.
“Isaac didn’t care about us being friends or the fact that what we done destroyed so many people; the only thing he cared about was what he could get from people. Me being the naïve girl I was, I fell for all the things he said to me. I feel like such a fool.”
“Don’t say that. You’re not a fool. Isaac is. He didn’t care about anyone, but himself. I’m glad you realized it. I just wish it was sooner.”
Riana put her hand on Britney’s hand and smiled.
“Are we friends again?” Britney asked.
“I guess we are, but promise me one that that you won’t pursue any more of my men.”
“I promise. What made you change your mind?”
“Someone told me something tonight that changed my mind. He said that we been friends for so long and no matter what happened in life your family and friends will always be there to support you. It going to take some time for me to trust you again, but I know that as best friends, we can get through anything together.”
Britney smiled as she put her arms around Riana. The two hug each other tightly. Britney was in tears while Riana was smiling at the sky. When they pulled apart, Riana wiped Britney’s tears with her hand.
“I’m glad we’re friends again.” Britney said.
Monica and Shawn walk outside and saw Riana and Britney hugging. Monica smiled while Shawn nodded his head in approval.
“At least the day ended on a high note.” Monica said.
The two turned and smiled at Monica.
“How are you feeling sweetie?” Riana asked.
“Like shit. I’m pregnant, and the one good man that was in my life is gone. But I’m glad we’re all friends again. I missed us being together.”
“I think we all did.” Britney said.
“Come here.” Riana said.
Monica walked over to Riana and Britney and the three shared an embrace that was full of happiness.
Hi everyone!!! The next chapters are up for the lost story, as Riana finds out about Britney and Isaac, as well as run into some trouble of her own.
Cheryl arrived inside the student lounge and headed straight to the coffeehouse. She started to stand in line, but noticed Chris sitting outside on the patio. She watched him while he was busily reading the Sports section of the newspaper. He looked up and smiled.
“Hey. I didn’t expect to see you here.”
“I know. I had to get away from my place for a while. Mind if I sit down?”
“No, not at all,” Chris said.
“You’re reading the Sports section?”
“Yeah. I had to do something. My roommate is driving me crazy. I don’t think I can stay with him for the rest of the semester.”
“What is he doing that making you annoyed?”
“Where should I start? First, he’s in the bathroom for a long period of time looking at himself in the mirror. He eats up all the food and he’s interrupting my sleep by bringing a different girl into the room every night. This was all in the first week we moved in together.”
“Wow, sounds rough. At least you’re not staying with three other girls in a two bedroom apartment. It only been a couple of days and we’re already at each other’s throats. Now I found out that my cousin’s best friend been messing around with her boyfriend for two months. I want to tell her but I know it will kill her.”
“Why you didn’t? It will hurt her but she needs to know the truth.”
“I know, but her friend gave me some story that her and her boyfriend will tell her soon. I don’t know what to do.” Cheryl said. She put her head in her hands and took a deep breath. Chris reached out, putting a hand on her shoulder.
“Can I give you some advice? You do what’s right. You know your cousin better than anyone so you should be able to know what she can take. She will thank you for this. As far as her friend goes, she was never a friend to begin with if she’s sleeping with her boyfriend. That’s something me and Shawn never done. And never will do.”
Cheryl nodded to what Chris advised. She knew what she had to do.
“I wasn’t out of line was I?”
“No, not at all. In fact, I think that’s what I needed to hear. Speaking of Shawn, why you and him are not roommates?”
“I wish we were but he already have one. His brother. They got an apartment together when Shawn graduated high school. They asked me to move in with them but I thought that would have been a little overcrowded.”
“I know what you mean.” Cheryl said, smiling.
“You want to grab something to eat? Maybe talk some more?” Chris asked.
“Sure, I would like that.”
The two got up from the table and walk out onto the quad.
Isaac was parking his car in front of Riana’s apartment when he notices Britney sitting on the sidewalk near the apartment. He gets out of his car and goes towards Britney. Britney looked up, revealing her swollen eyes and a look of disgust on her face.
“What the hell happened to you?” he asked.
“She knows about us.” Britney whispered.
Isaac gave a perplexed look at Britney as he sat down beside her.
“What are we going to do? She could tell Riana anytime now.”
“But she didn’t. Why she didn’t go and tell her after she found out?”
“Because I told her not to. I said we were going to tell her.”
Isaac sighed as he stared at the row of cars in the parking lot.
“That’s good then that she’s not going to tell.”
“No it’s not. She’s waiting for us to say something. If we don’t then she will spill. Why would she withhold information like that from her cousin?”
“We have to tell her. If we don’t this whole thing will blow up in our faces.” Britney said.
Riana walked around the living room impatiently as she checked her watch. Isaac was supposed to have come by so they could go out to dinner. She wanted to confront him about his weird behavior. But of course, he’s late.
“Where is he?” she said to herself.
Ever since she returned from her vacation, she has been noticing how distance Isaac been towards her and why he hasn’t been spending time with her. She walked over to the window and noticed Isaac and Britney in the parking lot. Isaac was hugging Britney while she was crying into
“Why is she crying?”
She was about to walk to the door when her cell phone rang.
“Hey, it’s Shawn.”
“Shawn, hey; what’s up?”
“I had this great idea for our project and I didn’t want to forget it so I was thinking would you like to go out to dinner so we could discuss it.”
“I would love to, but I already have plans. Maybe I could give you a call later tonight so we could talk.”
“Talk to you later.”
Riana ended the call and was heading to the door when her phone started to ring again.
She answered the phone with a slight attitude.
“Are you okay?” Cheryl asked.
“Yeah, what’s up?”
“I need to talk to you. It’s really important.”
“Can it wait? Isaac’s here and he’s with Britney and I was going to see what was going on.”
“That’s why I’m calling you. It’s about Isaac and Britney.”
“Can you please tell me what’s going on? I need to know now.” Riana asked in an irritated tone.
“I just found out that Britney and Isaac has been involved for two months. They been sleeping together since the time we left on vacation. I’m so sorry Ri. I didn’t want you to find out this way.”
Riana couldn’t believe what she just heard. She slowly sat down on the couch and her cell phone fell to the floor. Tears started to stream down her face as she looked outside the window and watched Britney and Isaac outside on the sidewalk.
Monica walked into the living room with Donnell behind her. She goes over to Riana and put an arm around her.
“Ri, what’s wrong? Who’s on the phone?”
Riana didn’t even notice Monica was beside her as she was crying violently. Monica picked up Riana’s phone to find out who she was talking to.
“Hello. Is someone still there?”
“Yeah Monica; it’s Cheryl.”
“What happened? I was trying to ask Riana but she can’t stop crying.”
“I just told her something about Britney and Isaac. I’m on my way home.”
Before Monica could ask what she said, Cheryl hung up the phone.
“What’s going on?” Donnell asked.
“Cheryl hung up so I don’t know.”
In a sudden rush, Riana headed towards the door. She opened it wide, causing the door to hit the wall. She ran straight to Britney and Isaac with a fit of rage. Monica looked at Donnell and the two ran after Riana.
Britney looked up and noticed Riana coming towards her.
“She knows.” Britney said. She tried to walk away, but Riana was too quick.
“You bitch!” Riana exclaimed. She grabbed Britney by her hair and swung her around to face her. She punched her with all her strength. Britney fell down on the dewy green grass in pain.
“You didn’t think I would find out? You fucking asshole! To think I was in love with you. How could you do this to me?” Riana yelled at Isaac.
Monica and Donnell were both watching the scene unfold as Monica walked over to Britney to help her up.
“Listen, we didn’t want you to find out like this. We were going to tell you everything when the time was right.” Isaac said.
“When was that going to be? I can’t believe this!” Riana screamed. She went over to Isaac and started to hit him on the chest. Isaac tried to move Riana away from him but couldn’t.
“Girl, calm down!” he yelled.
Just as he was finally able to restrain Riana from him, she started back hitting him again. Donnell ran over to Riana and pulled her away from Isaac.
“Why are you upset with Britney and Isaac?” Monica yelled to Riana.
“That bastard and that bitch have been sleeping together for the past two months, that’s why! So was that where you were today after class, fucking my man!”
Monica looked at Britney and Isaac in total amazement. Her dark brown eyes were filled with shock and sadness.
“Why would you two do that? What’s wrong with you two?”
“You’re a fine person to talk.” Isaac said.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Donnell asked while getting in Isaac’s face.
“Stop it! He’s not worth it.” Monica said.
Britney goes up to Riana with a smug look.
“Matter of fact, I was fucking your man. Over and over and over again. I had to since you
“That’s low Britney.” Monica said.
Riana tried to go after Britney again, but Donnell grabbed her by her waist.
Cheryl and Chris ran over to the scene expecting the worse. Once the two arrived so did the rest of the apartment complex, as a mob of spectators were outside curious of the entire situation escalating.
“You had to open your big mouth. You couldn’t hold it in could you?” Isaac yelled at Cheryl.
“Don’t blame me because you got caught. Riana deserves to be with someone better than you.”
“You know what; you two not worth going to jail over. I’m done.” Riana said. She tried to pull out of Donnell’s grasp but couldn’t.
“You can let go of me now.”
“Promise you won’t do anything?”
Donnell let Riana go as she calmly walked away from him. She looked at Isaac and Britney with a disgusted look.
“Now that I think about it you two deserve each other.”
She hit Britney again, causing her to fall back down on the green grass.
Monica looked at the both Riana and Britney speechless with the whole situation. Donnell went over to her and gave her a hug.
“Things will never be the same again.”
Riana walked over to her Dodge Caliber when Cheryl and Chris ran behind her.
“Where you going? You shouldn’t be by yourself.” Cheryl said.
“Don’t worry, I’ll be fine.”
“Cheryl’s right; you definitely shouldn’t be behind the wheel.” Chris said.
“You were with Shawn at the club right?”
“Yeah, I’m his friend Chris.”
“Could you tell where Shawn stays? I need to go there.”
“Don’t do this, Ri. Being with another guy is not going to solve your problems.”
“It not what you think. Shawn called earlier about our Journalism project. I was going by there so we can discuss it.”
Cheryl looked over at Chris. He nodded his head.
“I’ll give you Shawn’s address.”
After the unforgettable incident outside, Britney, Monica, Donnell, and Isaac were going back inside the apartment. Isaac was walking in when Monica stops him at the door.
“You can’t come in.”
“I don’t think it’s a good time to.”
“He can come in.” Britney said.
Monica sighed as Isaac walked into the apartment.
“I’m still in shock over you two. How did you keep it a secret? Even I didn’t know.”
“There’s a lot of things you can keep in the dark. It just the idea of getting caught is the
question.” Isaac said. He glanced at Monica with a stony expression.
Monica rolled her eyes at Isaac and walked over to the couch.
“I’m sorry Mon for not telling you but I know you would have told Riana about it. Besides, it seems like lately everyone has a secret to tell.” Britney said.
“I know it was wrong for us to get involved, but something just click between us and we couldn’t resist. Now that Riana knows, we don’t have to hide it anymore.”
“That may be true, but you hurt a friend in the process. Have you thought about what this is doing to Riana? She really cares about the both of you; and Brit, you two been friends for so long. Why put her through this much pain?”
“Who’s to say that Riana not seeing someone on the side? She’s been pretty off lately since we went to the club on Friday.” Britney said.
“Whatever Britney.” Monica said.
“You two will be together now, but just to let you know Isaac is not welcome here anymore.”
“Why not? He’s my man now.”
“Yeah, but this is our place and you have to respect that. If you don’t then there’s the door.”
Monica said. She goes into the room she shared with Britney and slammed the door.
Donnell looked at the two and shook his head. He goes towards Monica’s room and closed the
Britney turned to Isaac and smiled.
“Well it’s over now. We can be together.” She said. She put her arms around him and gave him a hug. Isaac looked at the bare wall and sighed.
That’s what you think.
Riana walked up to Shawn’s apartment and started to pound on the door.
During the drive over, she was hesitating on whether she should stop by.
Cheryl is right. I shouldn’t have come.
As soon as she was about to leave, Shawn opened the door out of breath. Apparently he was working out because he was only wearing a pair of basketball shorts and had a towel draped over his right shoulder. Riana started to bite her lip while staring at Shawn’s sweaty body. The thoughts she was thinking right now was only making things even more complicated.
“Hey, what are you doing here?” Shawn asked in surprise. “How did you know where I stayed?”
“Your friend Chris gave me your address. I see you’re busy. Maybe I should go.”
“No; come in. I was just lifting some weights. Just let me freshen up.”
Riana smiled as she stepped into Shawn’s apartment. As he ran into the bathroom to wash up,
Riana walked over to the leather couch and sat down. From the looks of his place it seemed as if no one stayed there. In the living room there were only the couch and a flat screen TV.
But it’s comfortable.
Shawn walked back into the living room wearing a pair of shorts and a blue T-shirt. He looked at Riana and realized she been crying.
“Is something wrong?”
“No, not really. I just needed someone to talk to.”
“And you chose me? You barely know me.”
“I know, but you were the first person that came to mind.”
Shawn looked at Riana. “I thought you had plans tonight. Did something happen with that?”
Riana looked at the blank TV screen and began to cry. Shawn sighed as he draped his arm around her.
“Calm down. Whatever it is it will be okay.”
“Nothing will ever be the same again.”
“Whatever it is, it can’t be that bad.”
“Yes it is.” Riana said in between sobs.
“Calm down.” Shawn said. He goes into the kitchen to retrieve a glass of water. He walked over to Riana and she took it from him. The water calmed her but she was still was shaking.
“Whatever it is must have made you really upset. You’re shaking. You want to talk about it?”
Riana wiped her tears with the back of her hand and took several deep breaths before speaking.
“I just found out my best friend and my boyfriend has been sleeping together for the past two months. I can’t believe my best friend would do this to me. After all I have done for her and this is how she repays me.”
“Wow. Sorry to hear that.”
“I knew something was going on with my boyfriend. Why I’m saying my boyfriend; my ex-boyfriend. I noticed something changed in him when I returned from vacation; but I would have never thought it was this. They probably wished I never came back so they wouldn’t have to sneak around. Well, they don’t have to now. They can be together and live happily ever after in hell.”
“You don’t mean that.”
“Yeah I do. At this point they can go to hell.”
“Look at me. Your friend and your ex doesn’t deserve someone like you. I haven’t known you that long, but from what I can see you are a sweet and nice person. If they hurt you like that then they don’t deserve to be in your life. You don’t need them.”
Instead of feeling encouraged, Riana began to cry again.
“Don’t cry Riana.” Shawn said as he hugged her.
“I don’t want to go back there. I can’t.”
“You can stay here if you want. We could watch TV; maybe work on our project.”
Riana smiled. “Thanks, but I don’t feel like watching TV let alone work on the project.”
“Then what you want to do? If you’re hungry, I could cook us something.”
“I’m not hungry.”
“So what you want to do?”
Riana gave Shawn an innocent stare as she laid a hand on his chest.
Shawn began to become a little nervous by Riana’s gesture.
She is so beautiful. But I can’t do this. Not now.
“Riana, you’re not thinking straight right now. Maybe we should work on our project. I could tell you what my idea is.”
“Shut up please and let me talk. Ever since I’ve seen you at the club there was something inside that wanted to know more about you. I tried to deny my attraction to you but I can’t now.”
She looked at Shawn and starts to kiss him on his lips. The two start to kiss slowly as Riana moved her hands down Shawn’s back. Shawn tried to resist his temptation for Riana but he couldn’t withstand it any longer. Their kiss progressed to a force of desire that was unmanageable. Shawn watched as Riana removed her shirt and bra.
He suddenly became aroused by her sitting in front of him completely topless.
“Make love to me.” she said.
Shawn was taken aback by Riana’s proposal. He didn’t know whether to take her right there or just control his urges. He really like Riana and he don’t know if he can live with himself if he took it there with her.
He sat up and started to moan.
“I can’t do this.”
“Why not? If you think you would be forcing me you won’t be. I want you and I know you want
me too. I can see it in your eyes.”
“I do. Believe me I do, but we just met and you’re on the rebound. If I was any other guy I would have took you into my room and made love to you but I’m not that type of guy.”
Riana gave a weak smile and put back on her shirt.
“I just made an ass out of myself.” She said while getting up from the couch.
“Yes I did! You must think I’m easy or something.”
“I didn’t say that.”
“You might as well have. Just leave me alone.” Riana said. She grabbed her bra and purse that were both on the floor and headed to the door.
“Where are you going?”
“Like you care where I go. Just go back to what you were doing?”
“At least stay a little while until you calm down.”
“Bye Shawn.” Riana said. She goes to the door and opened it.
Shawn watched as Riana walked out the door and slams it. He turned around and sighed.
“I have to follow her.”
He snatched his keys from the kitchen counter and goes to the door.
After being completely humiliated in Shawn’s apartment, Riana quickly got in to her Dodge Caliber and started the ignition. She reversed out of the parking space she was parked in and sped out towards the street. While driving, she let out a frustrating scream.
“I can’t believe I made an ass out of myself!”
Whatever thoughts of her and Shawn being together were completely gone now. She probably can’t look at him anyone let alone talk to him.
“What am I thinking? I just broke up with Isaac. I can’t be thinking about anyone right now.”
As she was driving, she headed towards the ramp to the freeway. She had to go somewhere to clear her head on all the things that has happened today.
“And this is just the beginning of the semester.”
Shawn was a few cars behind Riana as he goes up the ramp to the freeway.
“Where is she going?”
Riana took a sharp turn and headed onto the off ramp towards downtown.
Shawn realized that Riana was going to the downtown off ramp and hurriedly turned towards the exit. He almost collided into a car on the way to the exit. The driver began to blow his horn furiously.
As Riana goes off the ramp, she made a left at the light and another left at a bar near downtown. She found the closest parking space available and turned off the engine. She got out the car and goes inside. Shawn pulled up into the bar parking lot and sighed.
“She chose here of all places.”
As soon as he was about to get out of his car, he felt a vibration in his left pocket. He realized it was his cell phone. He pulled it out and noticed it was Chris calling.
“Why did you give Riana my address?”
“She said she needed to talk to you about your class project. Did she come by?”
“She came by alright. She practically threw herself at me. After I rejected her, she got upset and storm out my place. I follow her near downtown and now she’s at some bar. I’m really worried about her. Let me go so I can keep an eye on her.”
“Shawn, where are you?”
Shawn hung up the phone and put it back into his pocket.
Chris hung up his phone and sighed.
“Where is he?” Cheryl asked.
“He didn’t say. All I know is that he followed Riana to a bar near downtown.”
“I think I know where they are.”
“It called the Z Lounge. We went there before and that’s the only bar that’s near downtown.”
Chris and Cheryl went towards Chris’s car to find Riana.
Riana walked into Z Lounge and headed straight to the bar. She sat down and sighed. The bartender walked over to Riana and smiled.
“What will it be pretty lady?”
“I’ll have a Cosmopolitan please.” She timidly replied.
As the bartender walked off, Riana looked around the bar with a look of guilt and shyness. Riana is not a big drinker but she figured after today’s events she deserved a drink or two.
The bartender came back to Riana with her drink.
She took the drink and placed it to her lips. As she placed her glass down on the napkin on the counter she noticed someone was staring at her.
Don’t come over here.
The guy walked over to her and smiled.
“Hi. How are you?”
Riana glanced at the guy as she took another sip of her drink.
“I had better days.” She answered with an attitude.
“So what’s a beautiful woman like you sitting all alone at a bar?”
Riana looked at him and started to laugh.
“If you think that’s going to make me talk to you, then you though wrong.”
“Sorry I bothered you. I just noticed that you looked sad and wanted to see if you were okay.”
The guy said. He started to head towards a table when Riana stopped him.
“Wait, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have been so rude to you. I had a really bad day today.”
“Sorry to hear that. Maybe I can make you feel better.”
Riana laughed. “I doubt it. Nothing will.”
“You never know. I could try. I’m Will.” The guy said as he put his hand out towards Riana.
“Riana.” she said while accepting Will’s handshake.
“Would you like another drink? I don’t mind getting you one.”
“No thanks. I’m driving so one’s my limit.”
“Oh come on; one more wouldn’t hurt.”
Riana looked at her glass then at Will. “Sure.”
“Cool. You had a Cosmo, right?”
“I’ll be back.” Will said.
As Will tried to get the bartender’s attention, Riana looked over to the door and saw Shawn sitting at a table nearby.
What is he doing here?
Shawn stared at Riana and started to get up from the table. As he was walking over to the bar, a woman came up to Shawn.
“Hey, Shawn. How are you?” the woman asked. She goes up to Shawn and threw her arms around him. Shawn looked at the girl in utter surprise.
“Look, this is not the right time.” He said. He removed himself from the girl’s embrace. As he was walking away, the girl grabbed Shawn’s arm.
“I’m sorry but who are you?”
“You don’t remember me? It’s Laurie; the girl who gave you the best night of your life. I guess you wouldn’t remember since you didn’t have the nerve to call.”
Shawn looked at Laurie and sighed.
Riana looked at Shawn and turned her head back to the bar.
So you wouldn’t sleep with me, but you did with her!
Will came back to Riana with a Cosmopolitan in his hand.
“Here you go.” He said, handing her the drink.
Will gave Riana a deceiving glance as she took the drink to her lips.
Drink up baby because this is your lucky night.
Riana tipped the glass, drinking the alcohol as if it was a glass of water. She placed the glass down on the counter and smiled at Will.
That’s a good girl.
Shawn looked at Laurie with an aggravated expression.
“I remember you now! Why don’t I give you a call tonight and you can talk your pretty little head off all night, okay.”
“Okay.” Laurie excitedly said.
“Whatever.” He said. He goes over to the bar when Cheryl and Chris walk in. They saw Shawn and headed over to him.
“Shawn.” Cheryl called out.
Shawn turned around to see the two.
“Have you seen her?”
“Yeah, she’s at the bar talking to some punk. I’ve been keeping an eye on her the whole time.”
“Why haven’t you went over to her and got her out of here?”
“I don’t think that’s a good idea.”
“If you won’t I will.” Cheryl said. She was about to go to the bar when Chris grabbed her arm.
“Let go of me.”
“And what good will it do if you go over there? It will only make things worse.”
Cheryl pulled away from Chris and goes to the nearest table to sit down.
“We should do something though. Ri is vulnerable right now. She’s not in the right state of mind.”
“I know that, that’s why I followed her here and been watching her since. Nothing happened yet, but if something does, I’ll take care of it.” Shawn commented.
“Riana is grown so I’m pretty sure she can take care of herself.” Chris said.
Cheryl shook her head at the two and looked over at the bar.
Thirty minutes later and Riana was still talking to Will. The two has been talking about everything from school to their favorite foods. As Riana looked at Will, she started to feel a little light-headed.
“What’s going on?”
She began to look around the bar but everything looked blurry.
“Why is everything fuzzy?”
“Is something wrong?” Will asked with a concern look on his face.
Riana looked at Will. Even he was starting to look weird.
“Suddenly, I don’t feel so good.”
She put her hand on her forehead and realized she was sweating.
“You put something in my drink.”
“What? You’re crazy.”
“I was feeling fine until the last drink I had. You drugged me.”
Shawn looked over at the scene and went up to the two. Cheryl and Chris gave each other nervous looks and headed over to the bar.
“What’s going on?” Shawn asked.
“None of your business.” Will impatiently replied.
“I think it is.” Shawn said while stepping in front of Will.
“I don’t feel good.” Riana said. “He put something in my drink.”
“She’s lying! She was drunk before I even talked to her.”
Riana tried to get up from her seat, but when she did, she fell into Shawn. Shawn caught her before she fell to the ground.
“Riana!” Cheryl yelled. She ran over to Shawn and took Riana from him.
“I’m calling the police.” The bartender said. He went over to the phone behind the counter and dialed 911.
“This is a joke! She was drunk before I talked to her. It not my problem she’s a tease!”
Shawn was about to hit him, but Chris held him back.
“Nah man, let me.”
He went up to Will and punch him across his jaw. Will fell backwards causing his head to fall on a chair nearby. He fell on the ground and was knocked out cold.
“Thanks man.” Shawn said.
Cheryl looked at Riana with a scared look on her face.
“I don’t feel good.” Riana weakly said.
She looked at Cheryl as her eyes started to slowly close.
“Riana! Riana, don’t do this!” Cheryl exclaimed.
Shawn looked over at Cheryl and Riana and ran over to the two. He took Riana from Cheryl and picked her up.
“We have to go to the hospital.”
“I’ll stay here for the police.” Chris said.
“Go. I’ll take care of everything.” The bartender said.
“Let’s go.” Shawn said.
And the three went out the door.
Britney was in her room looking at a photo album she had on her nightstand. After having a long talk with Isaac about their new relationship, Isaac claimed he had something important to do and stormed out the apartment it was on fire. As she skimmed through the photos, she looked at how happy she, Monica and Riana was during their high school graduation and part of their freshman year in college. A tear started to fall down Britney’s cheek as she closed the album and put it to her chest.
“We were so happy then. Now I ruined things between all of us. This was a huge mistake.”
“I agree.” Monica said while standing at the door.
Britney looked up and placed the album back on her nightstand.
Monica walked into the room and sat on her bed facing Britney’s.
“I don’t get you. I mean why would you do this to your best friend?”
“That’s the question that keeps popping in my head every time I was with Isaac and even now. I can’t answer why I did it: I guess I was in love with him. You knew I liked him before Riana got with him and she knew that, but instead of respecting my feelings, she went after him anyway.”
“So you felt it was okay to pursue something with him because you had a crush on him? Even if you did and Riana decided to date him does not mean you destroy your long term friendship for a man! You really messed up and I don’t think Riana will ever forgive you.”
“You don’t think I know that! I think about that all the time. I know I screwed up and it’s tearing me apart, but I can’t turn back time now. I’m hoping that things will work out for everyone. Especially for Isaac and me.”
“Are you kidding me? I really did like Isaac because I thought he was a great guy, but to come between two friends that are like sisters to each other is plain trifling. As you can see he didn’t care about you two being friends. All he cared about was what he could get out of both of you and he succeed.”
“I know I’ve done some things that were hurtful, but what about you? Has a certain incident just disappeared from your mind? You cheated on Donnell with a guy you met at a club. So don’t come in here acting like you’re so innocent when you’re doing dirt too.”
“I screwed up too, I’ll admit that; but at least I didn’t hurt my best friend in the process.”
“Donnell’s not your best friend? Or he’s just someone you feel comfortable with? I know that you slept with him too today. When are you going to learn Monica? Donnell have been so nice to you since you two been together. He has put up so much shit from you it is ridiculous! After all the people you cheated with, he still took you back. You know what he’s trying to do now and that’s saving up for his own place. Instead of being supportive, you go sleep with someone you hardly knew.”
Monica glanced down at the necklace Donnell brought for her with a look of sadness.
“I wanted to tell him today about Malcolm, but he surprised me with this necklace. How could I tell him I had an one- night stand when he was thinking of me while saving for his dream? He took the money out of his savings to give me something that I don’t deserve. You don’t think I feel terrible over something I messed up on! Because I do and it feels like shit! And the worse part of it all is that I haven’t heard from Malcolm since that night. Basically, I was used that night and I could lose someone that is really important to me.” Monica said through tears.
Britney looked at Monica and gave her a hug. The two were hugging each other and crying at the same time.
“We both messed up, huh?” Britney asked while crying.
The two continued to weep when Monica’s cell phone began to ring. Monica went over to the desk and answered it.
“Monica, its Cheryl. I have some bad news about Riana.”
“What’s wrong?” Cheryl asked in a frantic tone.
“I’m at the hospital with two of our friends. We found Riana at a bar with some loser and he put something in her drink. We believed it was date rape drug.”
“Oh no!” Monica gasped.
“We don’t know anything yet as far as what it was, but we think with the combination of the drug and alcohol that it doesn’t look good.”
“Where are you?”
“I’m on my way.” Monica said. She hurriedly hung up the phone and grabbed her keys from the desk.
Britney looked at Monica with fear in her hazel-colored eyes.
“What’s wrong with Ri?”
“She’s in the hospital.”
“I’m going with you.” Britney said as she was putting on her shoes.
“I don’t think that’s a good idea.”
“Why not? No matter what happened Ri is still my friend. I still care about her.”
“I know, but this is a bad situation right now. I don’t think it would be right if you were there. I’ll call you when I hear anything.”
Monica went towards the hallway and to the front door. Britney stared at the window in total disarray.
“Monica’s wrong. I have to be there.”
She grabbed her cell phone from her bed and dialed a number. She waited until the person on the other end answered the phone.
“Could you come by? I have to go to Penbrook Memorial.”
Cheryl, Shawn and Chris were in the waiting room at Penbrook Memorial awaiting news on Riana. Chris looked at Cheryl as she eagerly put her hands together and was rocking back and forth in her chair. Chris took Cheryl‘s hands and put them in his. Cheryl glanced at Chris and took a shallow breath.
“Should you call Riana’s parents and let them know what going on?” Chris asked.
“I would, but I don’t want them to worry too much. Besides, it not much they can do. This has been an unusual day. We just met this morning and with everything that has happened today.”
Chris smiled. “This has been an eventful day, but that doesn’t mean a thing to me. I still want to get to know you better. I think you are a great person.”
Cheryl blushed. “Thanks. I’m just so worry about Ri. I mean this is not like her.”
“People will do the unthinkable when they are hurting. Just believe that she will pull through this.”
“I’m going to the chapel to pray.” Cheryl said while getting up from her seat.
“I’ll come with you.”
Cheryl waited for Chris to stand. They looked over at Shawn who was sitting on the couch with his head down.
“Shawn, we’ll be back. We’re going to the chapel to pray.” Chris said.
Shawn looked up with a restless expression. He moved his head to acknowledge them as the two left the waiting room.
He decided he needed to move around, so he got off of the couch and started to pace back and forth near the stretch corridor.
“If I just went to her sooner.” He murmured.
Just the thought of Riana unconscious at the bar only made Shawn more upset than before. He looked at the wall and punched it with his right fist.
Monica and Donnell walked into the waiting room to witness Shawn punching the wall.
“Shawn.” Monica said in a surprise tone.
“Monica. You know Riana?”
“Yeah, she’s one of my best friends. I didn’t know you knew her.”
“We actually just met. Hey, Donnell.”
“What’s up Shawn?”
“Have you heard anything?”
“No, not yet.”
Britney walked into the waiting room with Isaac in toll. She was really nervous with the idea of bringing Isaac with her, but she needed him there.
He is my boyfriend. If anyone doesn’t like it, so be it.
Monica and Donnell looked at Britney and Isaac wondering why was they there.
“I don’t believe this.” Monica said.
Shawn looked at the two and then at Donnell.
“The friend and the ex?”
“Bingo.” Donnell said.
Monica went over to Britney and grabbed her arm. She escorted Britney out to the corridor.
“I told you to stay at home. And why did you bring Isaac? He’s the last person who should be here.”
“And who is the guy in the waiting room; Riana’s new boyfriend?”
“He’s a friend. That’s not the point though. You two shouldn’t be here and you knew that. You have to go.”
“I’m not leaving until I know Riana is okay.” Britney said. She gave Monica a fuming stare as she walked back into the waiting room.
“Please don’t let anything else happen tonight. I think we had enough drama today.” Monica prayed as she followed Britney back into the waiting room.
Cheryl and Chris walked back in as well to see Britney and Isaac sitting down.
“Why are you two here? Haven’t you both done enough?” Cheryl yelled.
“It’s not our faults what happened to Riana. She should know right from wrong by now.” Isaac said.
“Son of a bitch!” Cheryl cried. She was about to go over to Isaac, but Chris held her back.
“You better contain her; she’s being dramatic right now. Everyone knows Riana have personal issues.”
Shawn walked over to Isaac with a threatening look on his face.
“You did Riana a favor by cheating on her. She doesn’t need slime like you in her life.”
“Well, well, if it isn’t Shawn Walker. What are you doing here? Let me guess, is it because you have a thing for Riana? I’ve seen you at the club pushing your way on her. I’ll tell you one thing, good luck hitting that.”
Shawn looked at Isaac and punched him across the face. Isaac fell down on the linoleum floor.
Shawn looked at his hand and realized it was covered with blood.
“You stupid you know that!” Shawn said.
Isaac got up and went towards Shawn with his right fist balled up. He decked him in the face. The two fell on the floor striking each other.
“Stop it! You two are in a hospital!” Monica yelled.
The two continued to fight when Chris and Donnell ran over to them to break up the fight before security arrived.
“Do you two have any sense? My cousin is in the hospital while you two are fighting like animals!” Cheryl said.
Isaac glazed at Shawn with a hatred look. Shawn looked at Isaac ready to pick up where he left off.
“Sorry Cheryl.” Shawn said. He headed to the window to stare out at the parking lot.
Cheryl went over to Isaac.
“You and your whore need to leave. You have no business being here. You are the reason why my cousin is here!”
Isaac looked at Cheryl and shook his head.
“Cheryl’s right. Please leave.” Monica said.
“Monica.” Britney cried.
“I’m sorry Britney, but I told you not to come. You’re only causing trouble.”
Shawn went back to the group and looked at Britney and Isaac.
“You heard them. Leave or we can get security to escort you out.”
Britney went over to a chair nearby and folded her arms across her chest.
“I guess you have to call security.”
“Fine with me,”
“Forget it. Let them stay. Maybe they need to be here.” Cheryl said.
Isaac went over to Britney and sat down beside her. Cheryl looked at Shawn and smiled.
“Even though it was bad timing, thanks for punching that jerk.”
“Glad to do it.”
A doctor walked into the waiting room with a clipboard in hand.
He looked at the group with a look no one could figure out.
“I wonder if it’s bad.” Monica said.
“Is my cousin going to be okay?” asked Cheryl.
The doctor looked at Cheryl and smiled.
“She’s going to be fine.”
“Thank God.” Cheryl said. Chris looked at her and gave her a hug.
Shawn looked up to the ceiling to give thanks as well.
“Was it the date rape drug?”
“We were able to determine the drug that was used and it was in fact Rohypnol. Your cousin is lucky tonight. With such a powerful drug and alcohol combined it could have killed her.”
“Well thank goodness she’s okay. Can we see her?”
“I’m afraid not. Visiting hours are over now. Besides she’s resting comfortably. I would like to keep her overnight to observe her condition as well as run additional tests.”
“Thank you so much.” Cheryl said.
Once the doctor walked out of the waiting room, Cheryl turned to Chris and smiled.
“That was scary.”
“Well at least we know Riana is fine.”
“Yeah, no thanks to them.” Cheryl said while looking at Britney and Isaac.
“I don’t think Britney should stay at the apartment. She needs to move out.”
Britney heard Cheryl and went over to her.
“I’m not going anywhere. I pay rent just like the rest of you.”
“I don’t think it’s a good idea for you to be there. You and your asshole of a boyfriend nearly killed Riana tonight. I don’t think Riana would want you there anyway when she comes home.”
“We’ll see about that.” Britney said as she goes toward the exit with Isaac behind her.
“I wonder what tomorrow will bring.” Cheryl asked.
Shawn looked at the night sky through the window and sighed. Monica walked over to him and put a hand on his shoulder.
“Why you didn’t tell me you knew Riana? We’re practically good friends.”
Shawn smiled. “I know. I wanted to try and take things slow before I did. It just the thought that I finally met the girl I’ve been noticing since I set foot at Shaw.”
“You know that could have been arranged for you two to talk.”
“I know, but I wanted to do things on my own. Besides she was with Isaac at the time.”
“How did you two meet?”
“At the club; I spilled my drink on her.”
Monica smiled. “You didn’t do that on purpose did you?”
“No. I didn’t know it was her at first.”
“I think you would be perfect for Ri. I thought Isaac was, but look how that turned out.”
“I would never hurt her like that asshole did.”
“I know. That was the reason why I liked you because you are a wonderful guy.”
“Yeah, but of course it didn’t work out. Are you happy with Donnell?”
“Happy as I can be.” Monica said silently.
“How did you two become friends? I know it wasn’t from the club.”
“We’re doing a project for our journalism class. By us teaming together, I thought that would have been a way for us to get to know each other, but since what happened with Isaac and tonight, I don’t think Riana would want another relationship.”
Monica smiled and hugged Shawn.
“Be patient and give it some time. Things will work out on its own.”
Shawn nodded and the two walked out of the waiting room.
A new day has arrived and Riana was being released from the hospital. While waiting on her to be discharged, Cheryl‘s mind began to wander back to the conversation she had with Monica and Britney earlier…
“I understand you pay rent, but do you really think after what happened that Riana would want you to continue living here?” Cheryl asked.
Britney rolled her eyes at Cheryl and got up from the cream-colored couch to go into the kitchen.
Cheryl followed Britney into the kitchen.
“Don’t ignore the situation. You know you were wrong over what happened and the right thing to do is to move out.”
“I agree with Cheryl.” Monica hesitantly said. She walked into the kitchen and gave Britney an unforgettable stare.
“Listen Brit, I love you like a sister, but I really think it is a good idea if you leave for a couple of days until things cool down. By then Riana may have forgotten everything.”
Cheryl laughed. “Please! If you think that you are truly delusional. Riana will never forget what happened and she sure will never forgive her for cheating with her boyfriend. I suggest you pack your stuff and get out.”
Britney went up to Cheryl with a smug look.
“I’m not going anywhere. If precious Riana don’t want to live with me then she can leave. In fact why doesn’t she stay with her new boyfriend?”
She went over to the kitchen table to grab her backpack. She went to the front door and slammed it.
Monica and Cheryl looked at the door slam and sigh.
I wonder why Riana was ever friends with that girl.”
“Do you wonder that about me too?” Monica asked.
“I’m not even going to lie. Yes, I do.”
Monica shook her head.
“I’m not going to fight with you, especially this early in the morning; but I do want to talk to you.”
“Who don’t you know at this school?”
“Will you let me talk? He really like Riana and he do want to try and see where things go between them.”
“You know Ri is not up for a relationship.”
“I know and I told him that. He completely understands, but he does want to try and help her through this.”
“I think that’s sweet that he will. From what I saw last night at the bar and the hospital he was very concern about her.”
“So what you think? Should Ri give him a chance?”
“Maybe, but let Ri figure out what she wants. I have to go and pick her up from the hospital.”
“I’ll be here when you two come back.”
“Okay and try to get Britney here. I think we all need to decide on what should happen with her…”
She will be gone. Even if I have to personally throw her out.
Cheryl walked into Riana’s hospital room and knocked on the door.
“Come in.” Riana said from the other end.
Cheryl walked into the room and smiled.
“Hey. How are you feeling?”
Riana was sitting on the bed wearing the outfit she had on from the other day. She looked tired, but had a sparkle in both her dark brown eyes.
“I’m better. I’ve never been so scared in my life like I was last night. I thought I was going to die.”
“But you didn’t and that’s a blessing.”
“Did you have class today? I’m sorry that you had to miss it to pick me up. If it wasn’t for me doing something so stupid you wouldn’t be missing school.”
“Will you stop? Do not blame yourself for what happened. The entire situation was not your fault. That guy who did this to you was a loser.”
“Do you know what happened to him?”
“Chris went back to the bar to talk to the bartender that was on duty. He informed him that he was arrested and that if you want to file charges you can. I really think you should.”
Riana got up from the bed and sighed.
“I really just want to forget about last night. I wasn’t attacked so I really don’t think I should file charges.”
Cheryl nodded and sighed.
“Just think about, okay.”
“I will. Did anyone come to the hospital last night?”
“Shawn and Chris were here and Monica and Donnell came.”
“Was Britney here?”
“Cheryl looked at Riana. She didn’t know whether to tell her that Britney and Isaac were here and that Britney was still in the apartment.
“Would you be upset if she was?”
“No, as long as I don’t have to see her or Isaac again, I’m fine.”
“Great.” Cheryl said silently.
“I hope you didn’t think I would want to. After what she done I wouldn’t want to see her.”
“Maybe we should go somewhere after we leave here. Are you hungry? We could go out for lunch.”
“She still there, isn’t she?”
“She went to class, but she will be back.”
“You would think she would at least left after what happened. I guess I don’t know her like I thought I did. I’m ready to go home.”
“Maybe we shouldn’t go back to the house for a while. We could visit your parents or go to the mall. At least calm down before we go back.”
“I’m not angry. In fact I’m great; it just that I would have thought she had some morals and decided to move out.”
“Monica and I tried to convince her to, but she thought otherwise. She figures if she pays rent then she has as much right to stay there as we do.”
Riana smiled and started to walk.
“Well, we’ll see about that.”
Cheryl looked at Riana walk to the door with a confused look on her face.
When Britney reached her apartment, she opened the door and walked in. When she did, she noticed half of her belongings were in the living room. Some of it was in boxes while some were thrown on the floor.
“What the hell is going on?”
Riana and Cheryl were sitting on the couch looking at Britney while Monica was standing by the TV wishing she was anywhere else but there.
“Hello Britney, nice for you to finally come home. Wait a minute, what am I saying; this is not your home anymore.” Riana said.
“What are you talking about?”
“As of this moment you are no longer on the lease to this apartment, which means you no longer live here.”
Britney looked at Riana then at Monica.
“You went along with this?”
Monica gave Britney an expression reading “I’m sorry” before looking in the other direction.
“I don’t believe this. After all we have been through and you do this to me! Where am I supposed to go?”
“Frankly I don’t care. I don’t believe you! You think you would stay here after what you’ve done?! I though you would have better sense than that.”
“We supposed to be friends. Friends don’t do this to each other.”
“Well you should have thought about that before you slept with Isaac.” Cheryl said.
“Shut up! You never liked me or Monica in the first place. You probably happy this is happening. Watch out Monica because you’re next. She will try to get rid of you too.”
“What is your problem? No one done this to you but you! You expect everyone to forgive you, but news flash, this is the real world. I suggest you stop living in whatever world you’re in and grow up.” Riana said.
Britney walked over to Monica with a heated expression.
“I really can’t believe you. I never thought you would take their side on this.”
“This is not about choosing sides. What you did was wrong Brit. You rather chose a guy over people who been there for you since you were little. How do you know Isaac won’t hurt you like he did with Ri?”
“I know he wouldn’t.”
“I love you Brit, but I agree with Ri and Cheryl. You can’t stay here.”
Britney nodded her head in frustration as she grabbed one of her boxes from the floor. She glared at the three standing in front of her who unanimously wanted her gone.
“You know what, I’m glad I’m leaving. I don’t need any one of you!”
Monica looked at Britney with tears in her eyes while Riana gave Britney a dull expression.
“Whatever Britney; since you don’t stay here anyone I need your key. And don’t worry about the rest of your things. Monica will bring them to wherever you are.”
Britney reached for her key ring and found the key to the apartment. She took it off the ring and threw it at Riana.
“Fine, you can have it.”
She went to the door and opened it. She slammed it with all her strength, causing some pictures on the wall to fall to the floor.
Riana turned to look at Monica and Cheryl with a wide smile.
“That went well.” she said. She went to her room and closed the door.
Cheryl looked at Monica.
“Look on the bright side; at least you have your own room now.”
Monica shook her head as she walked out of the living room.
Shawn decided to visit Riana at her apartment to see how she was feeling. After talking to Monica, he found out she was at home and decided to get the address. Now he was on the doorstep deciding whether to ring the doorbell or walk away. After a few moments and a lot of deep breaths, he finally rang the doorbell. Monica opened the door with a tiny smile.
“Hey. Come on in.”
“Hey. This isn’t a bad time is it? If it is I can come back.”
“No, it’s cool. We just had an altercation earlier. We kicked Britney out of the apartment.”
“Wow, I bet that was full of drama.”
“It definitely was. She claimed none of us were her friends and that she hated us.”
“What did she expect though, for everyone to forgive and forget? She messed up and now she has to face reality.”
“She’s in her room. I believe she was taking a nap. Let me see if she’s awake.” Monica said. She went to the hallway and into Riana’s room.
Shawn looked around the apartment with a look of comfort. He started to walk around and look at the pictures surrounding the living room. He picked up a frame that held a picture of Monica, Britney, and Riana that was sitting on the fireplace mantel and sighed.
“I bet they will never be as happy as they were in this picture again.” he said. He put the frame back on the mantel.
Riana walked into the living room smiling from ear to ear.
Shawn turned around and smiled. Even though she was in a bad situation the night before, she certainly didn’t look it now. She was wearing a black and white striped maxidress that showed off every curve of her body. Shawn tried hard not to stare, but he couldn’t resist.
“Like what you see?” she asked in a seductive tone.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to stare at you like that.”
“It’s okay. How are you?”
“I’m fine. I should be the one asking you that question.”
“I’m doing better.”
“And you look it. I’m glad you’re better.”
“Thanks. What brings you by?”
“I was wondering how you were. I know that you were released today so I wanted to see you.”
“How did you know where I stayed?”
“Monica told me.”
“You know Monica?”
“Yeah, we’re old friends.”
When Shawn mentioned that, Riana started to sigh.
Great, he’s one of Monica’s “friends.” It’s no telling what they have done.
Shawn realized what he just said and shook his head.
“It’s not like that. We really are friends. We never went out on a date or anything. It’s strictly platonic.”
“Why I would care what you two have done.”
“I can see it in your expression. You thought Monica and I were dating at one point, just admit it.”
“Really, I don’t care. What about the project? I know you’ve been dying to tell me what your idea was.”
“Okay, I’ll tell you.” Shawn said. The two went over to the couch and sat down.
“I think we should do something that everyone can relate to; something that will get people’s attention.”
“I’m listening. Go on.”
“I think we should do a story on everyday life at campus and ask people what they think is a hot topic to discuss in today’s society.”
“I like it. Great idea, Shawn.”
“I think we should start on it right away. We can start asking people in our classes, on campus, even your roommates.”
“As far as the roommates, I don’t know. Right now we all have our share of problems. And believe me; it’s only going to get worse.”
After thirty minutes of soul searching and realizing what happened between her and her ex-friends, Britney decided to go over to Isaac’s apartment. She really didn’t want to burden him with her problems, but she figured Isaac is her man now so he should help her with her situation.
Just like I would for him.
She pulled her Pontiac G6 in a parking space close to Isaac’s apartment. She got out of the car and got her backpack and one of her boxes from the back seat. As she was going up the stairs, she lost her balance and almost tripped on one of the stairs. She swiftly regained her footing and climbed the steps two at a time.
She went to the door and rang the doorbell. Isaac did not come to the door. Britney rang the doorbell again and waited patiently for him to open the door.
“I know he’s here. He said he would be.”
After a few minutes, she suddenly remembered Isaac gave her a spare key in case she had to get away from the apartment. She searched in her purse to find the key. After minutes of looking, she finally found it at the bottom of her purse. As she put the key in the keyhole, she heard voices coming from the inside.
I knew he was here. Why he didn’t answer the door?
She postponed opening the door and started to carefully hear what was going on. She heard noises coming from the living room. She put the key into the hole again and opened the door. She walked in, her expression abruptly changing from curious to pure disgust. She couldn’t believe the scene she was witnessing. She looked at Isaac with a look of anger, fear, and sadness rolled up in one. Isaac was on the couch in ecstasy as another female was riding him like it was no tomorrow. The two was in their own world having the best time of their lives and didn’t even notice Britney was in the apartment.
Britney dropped her belongings and ran over to the two. She pushed the girl so far she and Isaac fell on the floor together. She threw the girl off of Isaac so she could get closer to him. She started to hit him with the back of her hand.
“I don’t believe you! How could you do this to me?”
Isaac gave Britney a look of disbelief while Britney continued beating him. He realized what Britney was doing and pushed her from him. He picked her up off from the floor and hit her so hard and far across her face it knocked the wind out of her. She fell on the floor in staggering pain.
“How the hell you gonna come into my place like that! Are you dumb?”
Britney was on the floor in the fetal position. She was holding her head in agony and crying violently.
“Get your ass up, bitch!”
The girl that was entertaining Isaac quickly put on her clothes and was out the door in a hurry.
“Why are you doing this to me?” Britney whispered.
“Because you barged into my apartment like some mad woman and demanding me what I can and can’t do in my own place. I’m a grown man so I can do whatever I please!”
Britney slowly sat up on the floor and tried to get up but couldn’t. She had to use all of her strength to get up and she succeed. She limped over to the door and picked up her backpack and box.
“Listen Brit, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to hit you. The girl is a friend of mines and she means nothing. I told you that I love you and I do. Just give me another chance, baby.”
Britney didn’t even look back at Isaac. She looked at the key that brought her into Isaac’s apartment and put it on the end table by the door. She went out the door and went down the stairs.
