Sappora Ink is the new blog talk show host with a show entitled, RFRT~Real Folks, Real Truths. Sister Ink is a straight to the point, raw, doctrinaire Christian girl trying to help her friends in this sinful world. She is changing the world one show at a time, and taking Shreveport by storm with the help of Nikiya Barnett, the owner of Salon Select, who has opened her salon as a hosting spot. Little does Nikki know, Sappora is closer to Raja than she thinks?

Raja is stuck in a world wind of adversity that he seems to have created for himself. Through R.A.B.~ Raja Abrams Broadcasting, he is trying to secretly make Nikki aware that their time together was not a waste, but will his method be the same method used to change his life forever?

Things happen when we choose to let God in. Whether we appreciate His ways or not, we must remember, His ways are not our ways. Will life change for the better for Nikiya and Raja, or is the plan that has been laid before them all a part of God’s plan?

She is the wife of Pastor Reynard Scroggins Sr., the mother of three by birth and two additional by marriage.

Describe yourself in three words.

Humble, Kind, and Generous.

What is a typical day like for you?

I normally start my day off with prayer then it is off to work. I normally try to make sure my day is productive and that I am strategic about everything that I pushed my hands to do. After a full day of working, I come home and transition from Author/Pastor to Wife/Mother.

What do you want to do different in 2017 that you didn’t do in 2016?

This year I want to publish the first book from my children’s book series, The Gat Pack. Another thing that I am doing this year that I did not do last year is move strategically. I was so busy last year and when I looked back, my money, nor progress equaled my exhaustion.

What television show best describes your life and why?

There is really not a television show that describes my life but there are programs that describe my life on TBN. My life is filled with ministry and the assignments associated with being who I am.

What’s your favorite quote & why?

1 Corinthians 2:9 King James Version (KJV)

But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.”  ~Paul

What character in your new book could you most relate to?

Nikiya is a lot like me because I experienced the same type of heartbreak with someone whom I just knew I would marry. Like her, I poured all of my energy into something greater and I expected God to move. I wanted to be sure that when God did move, I would know that it so I prayed for discernment.

Tell readers about your latest release.

Put It In Ink is about a young lady named Nikiya Barnett who thought she was going to be the wife of the love of her life, Raja Abrams. All of her dreams and visions shattered when she found Raja in a compromising position with the lady who is now his wife, Monica Abrams. Nikiya (Nikki) moves forward trying to pick up the pieces of her shattered heart by pouring all of her time and energy into building a chain of Salon Selects.

Raja, is trying to adapt to his new wife and his new life and soon to be status of a father. He finds that his happiness is compromised because his wife can not let his past with Nikiya go. In search of finding deeper meaning, he hires a talk show host for his blog talk radio station named Sappora Ink. Sis. Ink, not only changes Raja life, but she touches Nikiya, her co-workers, and her patrons.

What’s next for you?

I am getting ready to release a title featured in an anthology entitled Enduring Love this year, and I am also working on my first Christmas release. So, I guess you can say, “More writing, more preaching, and more living.”

What song would you use as the soundtrack of your life and why?

I would definitely use Way Maker by Sinach Joseph as the soundtrack of my life.

Sometimes I have to remind myself who HE truly is and that regardless to what it feels like, Jesus is a way maker, miracle worker, promise keeper, and a light in the darkness.

Excerpt
Nikiya “Nikki” Barnett
Nikiya Barnett, known to shop patrons and friends as Nikki, was eager to tune in to RFRT with Sister Sappora Ink. The blog talk show previewed for the first time the past week, rating high and considered a hit by reviewers. As far as Nikki was concerned, the world needed someone who would tell the truth, live the truth, and share the truth, even if it were a blog talk show host.

As explained, Sister Ink answered questions about relationships, and although honest, she was raw. Against her will, Nikki listened to blog talk shows often blaming the desire to be a good best friend for this phenomenon. A couple of them were worth listening to, but some were uninformative and a useless waste of time. The hosts were inexperienced or too pretentious to explain life’s circumstances with realness and clarity. They failed to solve problems or share foundational truths from the Gospels, as Chelle declared Sister Ink did.
For the first time, Nikki’s curiosity about a show’s review ignited interest and Nikki refused to miss it. Intent on judging for herself perhaps sparked the motivation. It may also have been the desire to understand how she lost the love or her life or the need for spiritual advice. Either way, Nikki would be in the front of the computer, with an open mind centered on Sis. Ink.

The only dilemma was making it home on time. Nikki’s solution may not have been perfect but it was plausible. She drove 85 in and 70 mph zone, praying the angels would blind the police. The inability to afford another speeding ticket should have detoured Nikki from breaking the law, not to mention how dumb it would be to get a ticket resulting from rushing to hear a talk show, but it didn’t. With long hair weave blowing, as the wind whipped through the windows of the car, Nikki uncaring and unconcerned bobbed and sang along with the music. We are conquerors, conquerors.

Driving fast, the “zooming” of the other passing vehicles warranted a rear view mirror check. Dang Nikki! The thought was not a result of a police approaching, but the reality of looking at a calescent mess. Nikki snickered, but noticed the children in the car to the left laughing and pointing their fingers. Nikki licked at the children and then sped past them.

Librarian at one of Earth’s last paper libraries, Phoebe Addison is about to have a romantic and interplanetary adventure wilder than anything she’s ever read.
OUT OF THE STACKS
Librarian Phoebe Addison has lived her entire life within a seventy-five mile radius of her small Louisiana town, but when she receives a strange medallion from her adventurous, off-world sister, reality tilts toward the bizarre. Everything Phoe thought she knew is…well, wrong. Dead wrong. But bone-numbing fear has no place in this brave new world—nor by the side of the dangerous, exquisite man who saves her life.
…AND INTO THE FIRE
Following the tragic slaughter of his family, operative Macijah “Cage” St. John understands evil in a way no man ever should. He traded happiness for a magnificent and terrible power, and fate isn’t done with him yet. He wasn’t looking for comfort. He didn’t need tenderness. But today he’ll play hero to a damsel in distress, and his quest will deliver him to the uncanny Martian colony of New London—and his heart to the demure Phoebe Addison. The bookish beauty’s hidden talents and deep abiding love just might save Cage from himself.

Phoebe could tell he wanted to say more but wouldn’t. She held his gaze, but he looked away, as if he were hiding a weakness he couldn’t stand for her to see.
“What are you talking about?” she said. “Help me understand.”
“I can’t,” he said, pulling back and shaking his head as if to clear it. “I won’t.”
“But why?”
He rolled back on his heels and stood quickly, and in an uncharacteristically clumsy movement, his shoulder brushed against the bedside table and nearly toppled the glass of tea.
“Just leave it alone, Phoe. My demons are my own.” The weakness was gone, and now that hard-edged, barely contained anger had returned.
She knew if she pressed him he would lash out. She was starting to understand, to be able to read his moods that had seemed so random and mysterious when they’d first met. There was a scab, healed over, but beneath the surface it still burned in his soul.
“Rest up,” he said, turning to walk away. “We’ll leave at sunset. Sadie has a car.”
Swallowing her nausea, Phoe threw back the blanket and stumbled out of the bed toward him. “Wait. Cage.”
He stopped but didn’t turn. “Look, I don’t know what’s happened in your past, but we all have demons. Some of us more than most. I get it.” She laid a hand on his shoulder, feeling the quiver of muscles pulled tight. The sensation of gentle touch had evidently become foreign. His head turned, staring down at where her fingertips rested against him. Such a profile, his eyes gazing downward and the faint glisten of a single tear resting just under his eyelashes. “You can trust me.”
“I do trust you, Phoe.”
She slid her arm along his shoulder, and he turned, enveloping her in a gentle embrace. He brushed a hand over her brow, smoothing back the stray locks that fell around her face. Being so close to him, she felt small and skittish. If he loosened his grasp even a little, she feared she would retreat.
He took her hand, bringing it to his lips then pressing her palm against his cheek. Instantly his body relaxed, as if her touch were some sort of calming drug. Phoebe could actually feel the tension melting from his muscles.
His eyes were full of fire and his breathing labored. Phoe couldn’t believe that it was her doing this to him. That all of this was for her.
“I don’t trust me,” he muttered in a low growl.
She was mesmerized by the curves of his lips as he spoke, and without even realizing, she’d moved closer. Only a breath between them, and then their lips touched.
At first he kissed her lightly, but when her tongue slid across the seam of his lips, he became insistent. His sumptuous mouth caressed her lower lip and it made her bold. Instinct kicked in and she kissed him back with equal intensity. Cage stole her breath and then offered his own. His arms tightened around her waist as he pulled her in against him, his hands rested on her hips as their kiss deepened.

Chase pulled into Ashe’s driveway and slid out of the car. Crouching, he sniffed the air and then he was running to the front door, pounding on it, calling her name. He slammed against the locked door with his shoulder once. It didn’t budge.
He slammed against it again, worrying with every blow that he might hit a spark that would ignite the air, laden down with the sickly smell of the additive they piped into natural gas.
Adrenaline pumping, Chase gave himself a few steps and ran at the door. The wood frame cracked under the onslaught of his mass, and he fell into the house. Afraid to turn on the light, he blindly fumbled through the hall. The first room he came to was the bathroom. The second room was her guest room. He finally found her room at the end of the hall.
He ran to the bed, not wanting to see if he was too late. She was lying tucked up in the bed, covered in a cocoon that hid her from sight. Chase pulled back the blanket and checked her pulse with his two forefingers. It was there—weak but present.
He gathered her up in his arms and took a step toward the door, then stopped. Her bedroom had a pair of sliding glass doors that opened to the backyard. Carrying her, he slid the door open and stumbled into the yard. His own breathing was labored now, his lungs protesting at the strain of the adrenaline and the contaminated air.
Spots started to appear before his eyes as Chase made it back to the street. He forced his legs to go faster, just a few more steps.
The blast of the shockwave lifted him off his feet and flung him and Ashe several yards through the air before crashing them down to the asphalt. The force of the blow knocked him dizzy, but he stayed conscious. He turned to see Ashe’s house in flames. A scream came from her neighbor’s house and then a woman was running toward him, a cell phone in her hand.
“I’m calling the police,” the woman called as she ran. “Don’t worry, I have a phone.”
Chase shook his head, cradling Ashe in his arms. She moaned, groggy, coming around. He tried to collect his thoughts. His own brain was still hazy and he felt like someone had sucker punched him in the back of the neck. Twice.
“What happened?” Ashe’s voice was shaky, the words slurred. “How did I get here?”
She looked up at Chase, her face shadowed. The fire caught highlights in her hair, now and then sparking glints in her gray eyes.
He couldn’t help himself. He clasped her to him, bending his face toward her, kissing her as deep and hard as he could.

When I awoke, I was surrounded by two waiters and a naked lady on a cloud. I blinked and the lady turned out to be a painting of an angel on the ceiling. Was it a replica of Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel? A pair of deep blue eyes peered into mine. The rich scent of Dark Water flooded my senses. I smiled. Then I remembered.
Charlie must have caught me when I fell because I was half lying on his lap instead of the hard floor. I lifted my head and struggled to move, but he held me in place. “Thank God. Stay still. Take your time. No need to get up.” Worry lines, as my mother liked to call them, creased his forehead.
“I’m okay.”
“You don’t look it… Did you eat breakfast?”
“Yes, of course.”
He grimaced. “Lemme guess. Grapefruit?”
“And a latte,” I said proudly.
He quirked a brow. “Oh well, that counts.”
I had the strangest urge to run my hand over his face and smooth away the wrinkles like the sheets on my bed in the morning. “I’m okay. Let me up.”
“All right, but take it slow. No sudden movements.”
I did as he asked, gradually raising onto my arms and getting up and into the chair Charlie helped me into.
The waiters hovered solicitously. One had a wet towel and the other, a glass of ice water. Charlie grasped the towel and pressed it on the back of my neck with one hand and grabbed the glass of water with the other. He held it to my lips. “Here, drink this.”
I obediently took a sip. “I’m okay. Really.”
How to tell the man that the pressure of his strong hand against my neck and the smell of his cologne was going to send me into a faint all over again? Thankfully, he took me at my word and removed the towel and set it next to my plate. He eyed me with suspicion. “Are you sure?”
I nodded, relieved when he finally walked back to his side of the table and sat. “God, what a self-centered ass I am. I’m sorry, Val. I could kick myself. I should have held my tongue.”
“No, I’m…I’m glad you told me.”
Charlie held one hand across his heart. Was it pounding as hard as mine? “Not another word until you finish your pasta. I can’t go through that again.”
