I recently signed under Torica Tymes Presents and we will be releasing Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart 4 soon. In addition, I working on two untitled books in the lab.

author interview

1. Besides writing, what else do you like to do?
Besides writing, I love listening to music (especially Prince), reading, singing, and cooking.
2. What inspired you to become an author?
I was inspired to become an author because I’ve always loved to read. Nothing influences people like a good story whether it’s fact or fiction. For most people, a great story is their chance to escape from the everyday realities of life and be swept away in a world that is intriguing and special.
3. What was your first reaction when your debut novel was published?
I was so excited when my debut novel was published. I couldn’t sleep for days.
4. Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
In five years, I see myself as an even better author, helping others to perfect their craft and writing screenplays.
5. What advice can you give to anyone who wants to become an author?

If you love to write, tell stories, and influence people you should become and author. You never know what kind of impact your story will have on others.

EXCERPT
Excerpt from The Way That I Love Him:
Mercedes was so nervous that she jumped at even the slightest noise. Stoney was gone and she was afraid to stay in the house alone. She never thought Laroy would do something as low as raping her. She wondered if he intended to carry out his threat to call in a tip off, if she didn’t give him what he wanted.

She had never meant to hurt anyone and he knew it. It just happened. She was desperate at the time and Laroy was the only one she could confide in. Then he promised her he would take care of it and it was their secret, until now.
Mercedes hadn’t slept in two days. The beating nightmares had returned. She thought back to the time they started, right after her mother re-married. Mama thought Jeff was a good man. They all did. It was Mercedes who found out first hand that he was full of shit.
It was a Saturday, and mama and her older sister, Carlena, had gone shopping. Fourteen-year-old Mercedes was reading a book when her stepfather walked into her room.
“You sweep that floor like I asked you, girl? Jeff asked.
“Yes.”
“That’s yes sir to you,” he belted. Mercedes hunched her shoulders and corrected herself.
“Yes sir.” She grinned. He had never told her to address him as Sir.
“You making fun of me?”
“No…sir,” she added.
“Don’t tease me, girl. As a matter of fact, sweep that floor again. There’s still some crumbs on it.”
“That floor is spotless. I’m not gonna sweep it again.”
Jeff hit Mercedes so hard on the ass that it stung and she fell forward on her knees. He hit her repeatedly on her thighs with an extension cord. “Sweep the mother fucking floor correctly,” he spat.
Mercedes picked up the broom and swept the floor until there was no hint of debris. After she was done, Jeff gave the floor a white glove inspection, nodded his approval, and told her to sweep the rest of the floors. With bleeding knees and welted thighs, Mercedes did as instructed. Jeff inspected all the rooms, then told Mercedes to stand against the wall. He licked his lips as he eyed her breasts. She pulled her blouse closed.
“Did I tell you to move, bitch?”
“No sir,” Mercedes said, as she heard her mother’s car pull up. She breathed a sigh of relief.
“Go clean your wounds,” Jeff ordered, as he watched his wife get out of her car.
“Yes, sir,” Mercedes replied.
Jeff beat Mercedes almost every day. She learned to please him by assuming all the household chores, ensuring that everything was done perfectly. Jeff was calm for about three months. Then, he learned she had excellent math skills, so he made her calculate all the bills and expenses. If anything was miscalculated and/or a bill went unpaid, he beat the brakes off Mercedes. He threatened that if she told anyone, her sister, Sasha, would be punished.
Sasha had heard Mercedes crying and saw the bruises on her sister’s body. However, she had no idea what was going on until she saw with her own eyes. Mercedes took the beatings for two years. At sixteen years old, she had become a master at lying to her family, classmates, and teachers. When anyone asked about her bruises, she made up an excuse that she fell or injured herself in some way. People believed her stories because she had become clumsy after her daddy died.
Sasha noticed Mercedes stayed close to mama and their older sister, Carlena. When they left the house, Mercedes retreated to her room or locked herself in the bathroom.

One day, Sasha saw Jeff carefully inspecting the rooms with a glove and checking to see if the laundry was clean and folded. When he saw that everything was up to par, he looked in the bathrooms and gave them the sniff test. Mercedes had been in one of the bathrooms for an hour. Sasha wondered what she could possibly be doing for so long. Her curiosity had gotten the best of her so she hid in the walk-in linen closet and peeked through a crack. Five minutes later, Jeff kneeled down to look under the bathroom door. He bammed on it, demanding Mercedes to come out. As soon as she did, Jeff hit her in all the places she had covered with clothing. He lifted her long skirt and beat her behind with the extension cord until he drew blood, then did the same thing to her arms. When he was done, he instructed her to cover up with her long sleeved blouse.
Sasha was so shocked, she screamed out loud, causing Jeff to look around to see where the noise had come from.
“Come out or I’ll break her neck,” he threatened. Sasha bolted out of the closet. “So, you want to be nosy, huh?” he blurted.
“No.”
“That’s no sir, to you.”
Mercedes was horrified. She didn’t want her little sister to suffer the same fate as she had. Mercedes would have told her sister about the beatings a long time ago, but she feared it was too much for the young girl who thought the world of Jeff and felt he could do no wrong.  They had a good relationship, and Jeff treated Sasha like she was his own flesh and blood. For that reason, Mercedes believed Sasha was in a better position and would never be subjected to any pain.
Today was the day she learned that no one was safe from Jeff’s wrath. Mercedes had always protected Sasha, so she was more than obligated to do so now.
“Please don’t hurt her. She’s just thirteen. I’ll tell her what to do. She won’t be a problem at all.”
“I know she won’t.” He nodded. “I don’t need two of you guys threatening to tell.”
“We won’t,” Mercedes promised, as she grabbed her little sister with trembling fingers and escorted her to her room, not knowing that soon they would be separated from each other.
The buzz of Mercedes’ cell phone interrupted her thoughts about her step-father. Laroy had texted her.
Laroy: I’ll be in touch with you about our next meeting. I need some of your good loving.
Mercedes didn’t bother to text him back. She felt queasy in the pit of her stomach and her head throbbed. She knew she couldn’t go through with what Laroy wanted. Her main concern was winning Stoney over and losing him would kill her. She didn’t have a solid foundation to stand on and she needed to find some way to get peace. She thought of the only other person who could help her. She knew Sasha didn’t want to deal with this but there was no other way to get around it.

author interview

1. Besides writing, what else do you like to do?

I enjoy nail design, arts and crafts, and ratchet tv2. What inspired you to become an author?

I wouldn’t say I was inspired. It was just more of a challenge that I  put on myself. I wanted to see if I could really write a book so I tried and now I am 8 books in working on #9!

3. What was your first reaction when your debut novel was published?

I was just happy and in disbelief when I pulled it up on Amazon! I just kept going back to see if it was still there! Lol!

4. Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?

I hope to have a successful publishing company with about forty books under my belt.

5. What advice can you give to anyone who wants to become an author?

I would tell any aspiring author to make sure they put out quality work! I would also like to stress the fact that reviews are great but you can’t take them to heart. Everything isn’t for everybody and as long as you put out the story you wanted to tell then stand proudly behind your work. Another major point would be to do your research on a publisher before signing or if you find that you are with a publisher who is not a good fit, leave and get with someone who is. You should never feel under valued in your publishing home.

EXCERPT

From Let Me Upgrade You: A Georgia Love Story

Gee Martin
When I see Ivorii come out the daycare, I get out the car and walk towards her.
“Ivorii!” I call out.
I see her eyes searching the parking lot trying to figure out who is calling her name, until they land on me.
“Hey Gee,” she calls back with a big grin plastered on her face. She steps off the curb and crosses the parking lot.
I meet her at the start of the aisle I am parked on. We give each other a brief hug before I ask, “Where ya girl at?”
“Ummm, I don’t know. I didn’t work today. I just came up here to get my check. She didn’t call me to pick her up like I told her to do when I dropped her off this morning, so I figured you were getting her.”
“Aight, so she should be headed this way any minute then, huh?”
“Yeah,” she says, looking back at the daycare.
“Cool.”
“Bye,” she calls over her shoulder as she walks away.
I turn back to look at the door of the daycare just as a burgundy Altima stops in front of its door. I continue across and walk in front of the car. I turn my head and look into the front windshield as I walk by. I see the dude driving lean over to the passenger side of the car so, for some reason, my eyes follow him as he does that. He locks lips with some girl that is sitting on the passenger side and that is when I stop walking and turn to face his car.
The girl he is kissing looks a hell of a lot like my Love. I stand there in shock as they complete their lip lock. When they are done, Love gets out of the passenger side without ever looking up. The dude is so busy staring at her as she gets out of his car that he presses the accelerator before he turns to look out the windshield. When he spots me, we lock eyes, and he slams on his breaks to keep from hitting me.
“What the fuck?” I hear him yell from inside the car.
I recognize the dude as my palms slam down on the hood of his car. “You the nigga from the cellphone store!” I bark.
“Yup and what da fuck that mean to you?” he asks aggressively with his head hanging out the window.
I turn my attention to Love because I don’t give zero fucks about what this nigga is hollering about. She is standing there with her bottom lip scraping the fucking ground.
“So, this is who got your nails and stuff done Love?” I question.
“Yup, that was me fam,” he says, putting his car in park and stepping out of the car.
I can’t believe this nigga has the nerve to address me and he is the mothafuckah creepin’ around with my girl.
“Look mothafuckah, I’m talking to my girl. I may look preppy but I will bust that ass, no doubt!” I shout back.
“Trust me fam, this ain’t what you want!” he barks, slamming his car door.
“Israel, get back in the car!” I hear Love yell at him.
“Yeah ‘fam’, get back in the car,” I bark, mimicking his dumb ass term.
“Israel, this isn’t helping; please, just go home,” she pleads.
He glares at me for a little while longer before he decides to grant Love her request and spare his own life by getting back in his car. I step up on the curb just as he peels off.
“Gee, I can’t believe you were acting like that,” Love has the audacity to say as I am walking towards her.
She steps off the car and begins to cross the parking lot before I can get to her, which is probably a good thing. I hastily do the same trying to keep from yanking her ass from behind because I know she can’t be serious right now.
Even though I am hurt, pissed, and confused, I still open the car door for her and wait for her to get situated inside before closing the door.
I damn near run around the back of the car to get to my side. I snatch the car door open and slam down into the driver’s seat. I pound my fist on the top of the steering wheel several times before I say anything. I can see Love jump out the corner of my eye but, shit, she should be scared because she is really trying me right now.
“Why Love? Why? What the fuck is going on?!” I yell at her.
She is sitting stiff and straight in the seat next to me and refuses to turn her head in my direction. She just keeps staring out the front windshield as she speaks.
“Gee, I need you to take a minute or two to collect yourself. You can’t drive us home acting like this. Once you get us home, we will have a conversation,” she says calmly.
I grit my teeth and put my keys in the ignition. Before I start the car, I take a few deep breaths and struggle to maintain my composure. I start the engine and concentrate on getting us back to the apartment in one piece so that I can find out what the fuck is going on. What it is she plans on saying to me that is going to make this fucked up situation okay. I pull out of the parking spot without saying a word.
I am so hype right now that I run three red lights on the way home. I can’t believe this shit! I was supposed to pick her up from work and drive to the hotel where her surprises were set to begin. I was planning to propose to her and then we were going to make love before going to her mother’s house for dinner.
Instead, she surprised the fuck out of me pulling up to her job with that nigga! I pull into our designated parking spot in front of our building and get out the car. I go around to her side of the car and open her door. I wait for her to get out and then I slam the door shut behind her.
The funny thing about this shit is that even after getting caught cheating, she has the nerve to sit in the fucking car and wait for me to come and open her door. It is like no matter what she does, she expects me to act the same. I shake my head as I increase my stride to the point where I pass her and have to wait for her to catch up to me once I make it to the door. Of course, I hold it open for her to walk in. I really want to slap the piss out of her when she saunters by me and into our building. We wait for the elevator in silence.
A few minutes later, I am standing behind Georgia Love as she unlocks our apartment door. I step inside behind her and fling the door shut. That is definitely the running theme for the evening.
“Can you please explain to me why you pulled up with that nigga?” I ask.
She walks over to my Grandfather’s chair and drops her purse down in it. She turns to face me but quickly looks down at the floor.
“Gee, you know things haven’t been the greatest between us lately.”
When she starts speaking, something compels me to walk over to her, so I do. I put my hands around her waist and pull her into me. I am expecting to smell that nigga all over her but instead, I get a whiff full of soap. Of course, it isn’t Irish Spring like what we use here so now I know they was fucking.
“Gee,” she protests and places both her hands on my chest, trying to push me away.
I hold her firmly with one hand and slide my other hand down the back of her slacks. I know she likes to wear thongs so when I don’t feel anything covering her ass cheek, I move my hand over and slip it into the crack of her ass to confirm that she has no panties on.
I step back a little and stand in front of her, shaking my head once confirmation is made. She folds her arms over her chest and continues to look down at the floor. I lift her head up with my index finger until our eyes meet.
“So, y’all already fucking, Love?”
“Gee, please let me explain,” she sighs, shifting from one foot to the other.
“That’s a simple yes or no answer, Love. Absolutely no explanation needed. You come in here smelling like Zest or Caress or some other bullshit soap that we don’t use wearing no drawers. Don’t try to dress it up for me now! ARE Y’ALL FUCKING?!” My voice booms, even though I am trying my hardest to remain calm.
“Okay, so I guess you don’t really want to have a conversation with me,” she says before storming off to the bedroom.
I follow behind her. “I definitely want to have a conversation about the facts, not deal with your weak ass semantics. You know what? Fuck all this bullshit! Just answer this one question for me; is he the one you want?”
“It really isn’t that simple, Gee?”
I laugh a little. “Yes, Love, it really is.”
“Gee, I will always have feelings for you but as far as being in love, I’m not sure that love lives here anymore.”
When she says that, it stabs me right in the heart but I still need to hear that she is wanting to give love a shot with some other dude and not me.
“I know we have been under a lot of stress lately, but you don’t think that you could ever fall back in love with me again? You are sure that there isn’t a small chance that we could work through this?”
She slowly shakes her head no.
I really want to drop down on one knee and beg her to think about what she is doing. I want to tell her about my contract, the advance, the hotel room, the ring, my proposal, but instead, I ask the dreaded question again because I need her to choose me because she loves me. I need her to choose me because she just got a little frustrated and made a stupid decision. I don’t need her to choose me because she is thinking about my bank account and an expensive ring.
“So, then answer the question; is he the one you want?”
“Yes,” she confirms softly.
I feel myself losing control. If I stay here too much longer, I am going to beat the shit out of this girl. I love her and have always loved her. Every decision I made in my life, since the day I met her, was based on what was best for her, for us, and this is the thanks I get.
I recognize that the only thing keeping me off her ass right now is my upbringing and even that is losing its grip with every passing second. I dig deep so that I can be the man I know my Grandfather raised me to be and I can hear him saying ‘Never let em’ see you sweat kid’ in the back of my mind.
I take his advice, turn around, and walk out of the bedroom and then out of the apartment without saying a word.

  author interview

1. Besides writing, what else do you like to do?

I love to shop and interact with my readers on Facebook.
2. What inspired you to become an author?
I just wanted to write a book about my life since I had bottled it all up and tried to forget about it but it was making me very angry and my relationships were failing because I didn’t trust any man or anybody so I was always just fighting so I didn’t have to remember but I needed to and everyone else needed to know why I was like I was but I wrote my story in a 3 part series and cried thru Parts 2 and 3 and then I just kept at it. The stories just unfolded and then before I knew it, I was an author.

3. What was your first reaction when your debut novel was published?

I was nervous and excited all at the same time. I was basically airing out my dirty laundry. I told my story uncut and raw, straight up no-chaser just like I felt it at the time it was happening. I felt it all over again and people loved that it was a real straight up, no sugar coating story about me so I decided to go ahead and write Part 2 and eventually Part 3.

4. Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?

If you read my story then you would know why I like to plan not to plan. I used to plan and plan to the point I went to college and got my degrees after I had kids but now…I live for the moment. No planning. Just living. I like having no plans. It works now.

5. What advice can you give to anyone who wants to become an author?

If it is your passion then no matter the odds against you or what anybody says, just keep at it. The reviews, the sales are just a part of something that can or won’t happen and if it doesn’t then don’t worry about it. Dust yourself off and try again. Nothing you achieve in this life is easy. You gotta work at it. So like Nike says “JUST DO IT!”

EXCERPT

From Fool Me Once

Hebrews 13:4 says, Marriage is honorable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.
Why didn’t somebody tell my husband that?
I watched as the man I had been with for 15 years and married to for 12 of those years enter the International Palms Resort on I-Drive.
He didn’t know I was following him because if he realized it maybe he would have gone elsewhere.
I hoped and prayed he would, but that didn’t happen. As I sat in my car watching him enter the building, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to know who it was at all.
I wanted to know why I’d given him my everything, and I mean everything. Everything a man could have wished for or dreamed of in a woman and this was the thanks I got?
Lord knows I knew nothing else but my husband. I made a vow to God when I was young, and I made a vow before God to my husband.
I guess the promise to “love, honor and obey” only applied to me.
I should have known better than to marry a man who wasn’t a man of God. It was my own stupidity to think love would conquer all and that he would change for me.
I was just like the women my church support group was always trying to help. Stuck on stupid for a man. But, I figured since it was my husband it was okay, right?
No woman, married or not should be disrespected by a man and take it. I decided to not think so much and just do something about it. I needed proof, so I stepped out my car once I felt my husband was checked in and on his way up to his room.
I got out of my 2016 Premium Plus Audi A6 and walked towards the automatic sliding doors of the hotel.
I wondered what I would say or do to my husband once I got there. I was a woman of God, so I had to act accordingly, but what about my husband? He wasn’t acting accordingly.
Our wedding vows entailed, ‘to love, honor and obey.’ I guess my husband heard ‘to love, honor and betray’, because that’s exactly what he was doing right now.
I wanted to believe otherwise, but why should I hope for the best and not expect the worst? I was sitting at a hotel for Christ’s sake, so what else could it be?
If it was work related he would have at least called so I had to take it as I saw it.
As I made my way through the lobby to the front desk to see if I could even get my husband’s room number from the front desk clerk, I see Sasha, Toya’s home girl. She was the front desk and looked as if she’d just seen a ghost.
I smiled and said, “Hey Sasha. I know you are not supposed to tell me if my husband is here or not, but I know he is here. I followed him here and stayed with him until he walked through those doors.”
I pointed at the automatic sliding doors for emphasis.
“Hey…hey Faith,” she stuttered. “Here is the room door key he left for his quote, unquote lady friend. He is in room 314 on the third floor.”
Sasha was singing like a canary. I was taken aback that she volunteered so much information without me having to pull it out of her, and she said it all with as much disdain as I felt.
I guess she thought what my husband was doing was wrong too.
“Do you know her name Sasha? Do you know who it is?” I asked her.
“No, I don’t. Sorry.”
”Okay. Thank you Sasha.”
She gave me a sympathetic smile and I smiled back. I put my face of confidence on and headed up to see who my so-called husband was laying up with.
Sasha
Sasha had a name, but she hoped it wasn’t her girl. She didn’t like a scandalous female who messed with married men.
Sasha had that crap done to her and had her heart broken in pieces, and now she was scared to love again because of it.
Why did someone break up her happy home? Or was she too in love herself to see her home was unhappy?
Just as she pondered on it and tried to shake the feelings plaguing her, she couldn’t believe her eyes when she saw who walked in.
Sasha just knew she had to be there for someone else.
Toya
When I entered the lobby and saw my girl Sasha at the desk, I already knew she would give me the room key with no questions asked.
“What’s up Sasha?” I spoke.
“Not a damn thang,” she said with much attitude.
“What the hell is wrong with you? You woke up on the wrong side of the bed?” I asked her.
She smirked and said, “Nope. Who you here to see?”
“I’m here for the key for room 314,” I answered.
Sasha just stared at me for a minute.
“Hello? Can I get the room key please?”I said again.
She snapped out of her trance. “Just a second,” she said as she tapped on the keys on the computer keyboard and swiped the key card until it beeped. “Here you go,” she said and handed me he key card.
She looked at me without a smile or hint of emotion on her face, as if she could stare straight through me into my soul of lies and betrayal. I broke the stare and said, “I hope there are no issues in this room like it has been in other hotels.”
“Tuh!” Sasha said and rolled her eyes.
“Excuse me? Sasha what’s going on with you? You acting real shady.”
“My apologies ma’am. Can I help you with anything else?”
I just looked at her. She was really cutting up. I had just talked to her a few days ago. I screwed my face up like ‘trick please’ before walking away.
Sasha had some serious issues. I planned to hit her up later once I finished up with my boo. I hit the elevator to go up and once I entered it, I hit pressed the button for the third floor.
Once the elevator stopped, I looked on the wall and followed the arrows to the correct sequence of rooms, searching for room 314 until I found it. I put my key in the door and when I pushed it open, the latch was on it.
I yelled through the crack of the door, “Bae open the door! Why you put the latch on?” A few minutes after, I heard the latch being taken off.
When the door swung open, I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw who stood at the door.

30 Days, 30 Authors- Laurencia Smith

Hi everyone!! The 30 Days, 30 Authors event is winding down, but there are still some amazing authors that will be getting their chance to shine, including this wonderful author who hasn’t even released a book yet. Laurencia Smith, aka Alithea-Jae, is definitely new to the writing game, but she has brought her A-game and is ready to set her mark as the premier romance author. She has even left an impression on me as she has become my first author to be signed under my new publishing company, SBinkley Publishing (which I will give more details on later).

Now, here’s Laurencia! 🙂

30 Days, 30 Authors- Té Russ

Hi everyone!! Té Russ is the next author to be featured in the 30 Days, 30 Authors event. One thing I love about Té’s stories is that you are able to go through the go along with each couple as they go through their journey to happiness. From beginning to end, it will have you go through so many emotions, which is a good thing in a romance story (you have to go through every emotion to find happiness, right?).

Anyway, enough with me rambling; I’ll let Té take over as she shares a preview to her upcoming release, Just One Touch, the sixth book in the McAllister Family series.

Here’s Té ! 🙂

author bio

Té Russ found solace in literary arts at an early age. Reading was a vehicle which broadened her horizons as writing became a form of self-expression. She began writing love stories as an adolescent to expel her youthful thoughts of love into words. Since then she has gone from writing stories and thoughts of love in journals to attending college for journalism and falling in love, which has allowed those youthful words of love to blossom into a series of stories in her romance novels. When she doesn’t have her nose pressed deeply into a book or her fingers flying across the keyboard, this Texas wife and mother of three can be found jumping out of airplanes, cheering her husband on at the top of her lungs at MMA fights, buzzing down the interstate on the back of motorcycles, or kayaking.

Just One Touch-20

Savannah McAllister is only focused on one thing: raising her son. When she decides to take him on a long overdue vacation, the last person she expects to run into is the only man she’s ever truly loved…who also happens to be her son’s father.

Ethan Porter gets the surprise of his life when he discovers he has a son. Now, he wants answers and he wants them from the one woman who was able to steal his heart with nothing more than her smile.

Both Savannah and Ethan are determined to make the best of their situation for the sake of their son, EJ. But in the process, they quickly discovered that all of those feelings they had years ago, have been lying dormant and the passion they shared is about to come back to life.

EXCERPT

Ethan was stretched out in his bed with his arms over his head as he stared at the ceiling. EJ had been thrilled when he found out they would be spending the night at Ethan’s place. After dinner, they played some of the old boards games, Ethan found in one of the closets.

Eventually EJ grew tired and Savannah sent him off to get ready for bed. Since the sleepover was a last minute idea, they hadn’t brought any extra clothes, so Ethan gave EJ one of his t-shirts to sleep in. The shirt swallowed EJ up, and Savannah thought he looked adorable.

After they’d tucked him in, Savannah and Ethan had stood outside the bedroom door quietly.

“I guess this is good night,” he said.

“Good night,” Savannah said, quietly. “And thanks for the shirt.” Ethan had given her a shirt to sleep in as well.

Now, he was lying in bed, imagining what Savannah looked like walking around in nothing but his t-shirt.

The sound of a light knock on his door had him sitting up slightly.

“Come in,” he said, wondering which of his house guests were at his door.

The door crept open and a long bare leg peeked through, causing Ethan to sit all the way up. He felt a twitch beneath his boxers as Savannah came fully into view. She quietly shut the door before looking at him.

His shirt engulfed her as well, but it stopped right her thighs.

“Savvy,” he finally said. “Is everything all right?”

She opened her mouth to say something then stopped, clamping it shut. Then she crossed the room. His pulse quickened as he watched her climb in the bed, straddle his lap and wrap her arms around his neck.

“Savvy–”

Whatever he’d been about to say got cut off when Savannah thrust her tongue into his mouth. He gripped her thighs before sliding his hands higher, underneath the shirt. He let out a groan when he discovered she was wearing nothing underneath. In a flash, he had her on her back and he shoved the shirt up so he could admire her entire body.

He knew he needed to slow down, but for the moment, he couldn’t stop himself. He reached down and circled one of her nipples with his finger, before he gave in to temptation and bent down to pull it into his mouth.

She arched against him, pushing her breast further into his mouth and he greedily tasted her. When he moved to the other one, she gripped his head and let out a moan.

He felt her hand inch closer to his erection and he finally found the strength to pull away.

“Why’d you stop?” Savannah asked.

He shook his head and raked his hands down his face. He felt like an idiot. An extremely horny idiot. “As difficult as this is for me to say…we can’t do this. Not yet.”

“But…I thought…” Savannah mumbled. She sat up quickly and pulled her shirt down, covering her body. “Never mind. I’m sorry.”

She went to scramble out of the bed, but Ethan stopped her. “Savvy, wait.” He blew out a frustrated breath. “Don’t misunderstand me. I want you. Desperately. But…Are you honestly comfortable with this happening for the first time with EJ right down the hall? What if he hears us? Or what if he gets up looking for you?”

He could tell by the look in her eye that she wasn’t comfortable with that thought.

“When I finally make you mine completely again, I want to make love to you all night, uninhibited and uninterrupted. I don’t want to have to explain why mommy was screaming all night,” he said with a grin.

Savannah’s lip twitched and she said, “You’re right, I know.” She covered her face with her palms. “I’m so embarrassed, sneaking in here and jumping you like a little tramp.”

“Hey!” he said, pulling her hands away from her face so he could look into her eyes. “You’re no such thing, you hear me? It’s my fault for giving you the impression that that’s what I meant when I invited you to spend the night.”

Savannah shook her head. “It was my own interpretation.”

“We will have our night together,” he said. “And I promise you it will be worth the wait.”

30 Days, 30 Authors- SamQunita Nyeshia

Hi everyone!! Today, SamQuinta Nyeshia is visiting my blog during the 30 Days, 30 Authors event. She is a new author on the scene who have four books under her belt. Not only is she a writer, but a reader first. Check out her impressive bio as well as what inspired her to become an author.

Now, SamQuinta Nyeshia!

author bio

My name is SamQuinta Capers, but goes by the Pen name Nyeshia (which is my middle name). I am 22 years old born on January 25, 1994. I am a Psychology major at University of South Carolina Beaufort. I am graduating next year April with a B.S. degree. Writing is my passion, it is my escape away from the real world. When I write I am free and off to another world, where I can be me. I am signed under a publisher name Cynthia Blue Creations. I have been an author for over a year now and love it. It is not easy considering I am in school and trying to maintain good grades/GPA and writing at the same time. I was on the quiet side and never thought of actually making it this far. I don’t want to be famous, I just want people to hear that I have a voice and I want to be heard. If I can have one or two people who love my work, then I am a happy camper. I enjoy making people happy and want to make people to understand that if you have a passion for something then you should go out there and do it, no is in control of your life but you. We are put on this Earth for a reason, we just have to figure out what that reason is. I am striving to be the best that I can be so I can make myself proud, and say that I have accomplish my goal.

author interview

1. Besides writing, what else do you like to do?

Besides writing, I love to do my school work (yay),  and listen to music, especially while I am writing. Music makes me calm and I cannot go a day without it. I also like to draw; I was once an art major so drawing was another escape of mine that I absolutely love. Writing, music, and drawing all go hand in hand.  I love watching TV, and my favorite shows include Pretty little Liars, Love and Hip Hop (all seasons), Bring It, and every Tyler Perry Shows.

 2. What inspired you to become an author?

Becoming an author was something that I never thought of doing. I wrote in journals growing up but I was the shy type, so becoming an author never ran through my mind. A couple of years ago, I wanted to try something new and take the chance on furthering my writing career. I wouldn’t know if I tried and I did under a new publisher and things are great to this day.

3. What was your first reaction when your debut novel was published?

My first reaction when my debut novel was published was a little emotional.  Tears were coming out of my eyes, because I never thought that this day was actually coming true.

4. Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?

I’ll be 27 years old, hopefully having my own apartment. I want to go back to school for art and getting my master’s in counseling to become a guidance counselor and/or my master’s for child psychology.  Hopefully, I will developed more in my writing and be more relevant like some of the authors that I know in the writing industry.

5. What advice can you give to anyone who wants to become an author?

The advice I would give anyone who wants to become an author is to make sure you have time for writing and time for yourself. I’m in college and finding time for you and writing is a must. If you want to write make sure you are doing it for the passion, and not for the profit.

EXCERPT

Excerpt from Could It Be True

Lailah

As I got to the park an earlier than I expected, I just want to make sure what I’m up for was really going to be true. I had to come and clear my head, and face the fact that my crush was going to be here to meet, and I was about to face my so called ex best friend’s child. Things was going to be too much today, so the only fitting thing I was going to it’s just come to the park a little bit early and get my head together. I was anxious, nervous, and plenty more all wrapped into one. I walked around the park, and stopped at this nice view that had my attention, until I heard this nice, sexy voice. “Lailah?” The voice said. Could it be him? I turned around and was mesmerized with what I was seeing. Standing at 6’4, 225 pounds, with muscles, caramel skin, who’s holding hands with a little girl with a nice hair. She’s most definitely Kiyah’s child, but I don’t see his features in her. Mmmmm! I thought.

“Yes, that’s me. Sincere?” I said, and asked.

“Yes, that’s me. Long time no see. You are more beautiful than I ever pictured. This is my daughter Keya, Keya this is my new partner at work, Lailah.” He said, with his deep, sexy voice that always made me blushed.

“Hi, Keya it’s nice meeting you. You are so pretty.” I said, I just love the children. Hopefully I will have some in the future.

“Hi.” She said shyly. Then she asked, “Can I play now, daddy?”

“Sure, go ahead we’ll be over here where we can see you.” He said, as we walked a little sitting on the benched.

At first it was like back in the day, no words was being said between us. The only difference was we was sitting next to each other, with a little space between us. That was a major step, usually I would be far away from him, but this time I didn’t want to be. I wanted to be really close to him, hug him, and hold him. Letting him know that I was his, and he was mines. So many thoughts was running through my mind and I want to tell him everything, but that’s for another time. We are supposed to be here for work, but how that is even possible when we had history. Not really history, but I had a crush on him, who he probably once dated my best friend at the time, and wound up getting her pregnant at that to. I wouldn’t expect this to be happening like this. I would expect he wouldn’t have no children, I was supposed to be the one with his child, no friend of mine should be in the mix, but she wasn’t even a friend to me. I don’t know why women, girls, never liked me. I don’t coming off as stuck up or anything, why judge someone before you get to know them.

“So, do you want to talk about what to expect on Monday?” He asked, half looking at me and his child. I really don’t, I want to talk about other things, but decide against it. For now.

“Sure, that’s what we really here for, right?” I asked. He nodded.

“Okay, well, Mr. Cole, the CEO of Herrington Incorporated, suggested on, well I had spoken up about, and stop the feuding because we both are the greatest, so why feud on one another when we can work together. I hate when people hate on one another. So let’s come together and become one.” I said, staring into his eyes, which is staring back at me.

“That sounds like you, I remember you never used to condone that. You were and still a great person with a good heart. I really don’t know why people hated you, you are an inspiration.” He said. I blushed, and can’t believe he said that. He’s been paying that much attention all these years.

“Thanks, didn’t know you notice that after all these years.” I said.

“Really? I noticed a lot about you, but never get to show it. I guess you can say I was bit on the shy type when it comes to you.” He said while blushing. Aww! I thought. He’s blushing I can’t believe it.

“Wow! I really don’t know what to say. I’ve noticed you, and never once thought you were shy type, when it came down to any girl. To me, every girl wanted you.” I said, wondering what he’s going to say.

“Yeah, they might wanted me, but I only wanted one girl the whole entire time.” He said. Is he talking about me?

“Really, was it Kiyah? I said sadly, holding my head down to look at the grass beneath my sandals. I love the spring time.

“Kiyah? No I didn’t want her at all, but to be honest, she seem cool once we got older and yeah we kick it, that lead to us being intimate, but I never really thought y’all been good friends, maybe associates, but in high school she made it seem like you all wasn’t BFF’s anymore. She said some fowl stuff about you, and I defend them because I know you weren’t like that, but anyway I don’t know what happened one minute she was talking about you, and the next minute she apologized and told me she liked me and whatever. Then the next we were in my bed the stupidest thing I think I ever done, well the second stupid decision that I done.” He confessed everything.

“What’s the first?” I asked, curiosity now getting the best of me.

“Not being your protector, your lover and your best friend.” He finally said, letting go of his breath that he once hold in.

30 Days, 30 Authors- W Parks Brigham

Hi everyone! I can’t believe the 30 Days, 30 Authors event is almost over. 😦 Even though it’s getting close to the end, there are still some amazing authors that will be gracing my blog, including W. Parks Brigham. She is a fellow Houstonian who has penned several romance books that are not only sweet, but makes you think about your very first love.

Now, here’s W Parks! 🙂

author bio

W Parks Brigham is an avid reader of AA romance and women fiction, which inspired her to write her own. She has penned some of the most delicious tales with plus size women as the heroine, touching your every emotion. Her heroines are attractive, educated, and sophisticated with high self-esteem. They are not looking for a man to validate their worth…just love them for who they are.  Drama, the element of surprise with lots of twists and turns, romance, love, and semi-steamy intimacy are featured in each story.

Besides being a writer of AA romance and women fiction; W Parks Brigham considers her stories in a class all by themselves Contemporary Christian Romance since she includes intimacy. Remember, she was first to tag her stories in what she’s sure will be a new category in the near future.

author interview

1. Besides writing, what else do you like to do?

I love reading, listening to oldies but goodies, working bent & wiggly word search puzzles, watching old sitcoms, and socializing with family and friends. Facebook has also been a hobby of mine since I interact with several on-line groups. I enjoy spending time with each group.

2.  What inspired you to become an author?

Being a serious avid reader of AA romance, when I first started reading there were not stories featuring plus-size women. I had the notion to write my own story in 96 with a plus-size sistah as the heroine and the rest is history. I like to say I was the first to step out on faith and write such a story.

3. What was your first reaction when your debut novel was published?

Unbelievable fantastic excitement! Since I was an unknown self-published author I knew it would take some time. Due to meeting the Arabesque authors in the late 90s, I was given a wealth of support and encouragement. How awesome it was to meet my favorite authors who inspired me to do you!

4. Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?

I would like to reword this question a bit and say I would like to see myself doing what I love and giving a helping hand to other aspiring authors.

5. What advice can you give to anyone who wants to become an author?

Read the genre you are interested in writing and start writing! During the process interact with groups and authors to guide you in the right direction for promoting your work. By all means, don’t get so anxious and make common mistakes that most of us do that could have been avoided.

Book #4 You’re The One For Me http://amzn.com/B016APUOLS

Short Excerpt:

Dana pulled into the hotel for valet parking and was ready to make the best of the evening.  Like she’d said, after tonight it would be all over.

Wow, thought Fletcher as he watched her enter the lobby.  She was absolutely stunning with her long, flowing hair hanging past her shoulders down her back.  Her dark-streaked, auburn hair color stood out against her dark, honey-colored complexion and her jeweled, black bolero sweater.  He loved the sway of her hips in the deep vibrant red dress which flowed seductively around her ample curves.  Pretty-shaped calves and thick ankles were visible in multi-strapped heels.  He should have been ashamed of himself, wishing the wind to blow so he could see more, but it didn’t.

Dang, thought Dana, he was waiting for her just like he said as she stepped inside. He met her with his dazzling smile, sporting two adorable dimples. That was something she never noticed before. There wasn’t an ounce of fat on his tall, lean body.  And he did look good in his black slacks, which had to be tailor-made, which fit his bowed legs perfectly, along with the red, collarless sweater that hugged his tone muscles.

“Hi Dana, you made it.  You look pretty, as always,” he stated, taking her hand in his.

“Thank you, Fletcher, and you also look nice,” she replied, staring up into his smiling face.  Dark molasses, Gramps’s favorite syrup, was what his skin color reminded her of.  His hair was neatly trimmed, including the light fuzz circling his mouth and chin.  He gave her a bigger smile with his thanks…

For once Dana was not sure of herself and didn’t trust how she was feeling at the moment.  His closeness and male scent was overwhelming in a pleasing kind of way.  His smooth, savvy voice was absorbing on the phone, and now it was more spellbinding with a face to add to it.  Every nerve in her body was longing with desire and she was becoming too comfortable and relaxed.  Is this what it means to be in a vulnerable state? She wondered…

He leaned down and pulled up a medium-sized gold gift bag with red hearts. “This is for you.”

Caught completely by surprise, she said, “Thank you, Fletcher, but I wasn’t expecting anything, especially with this being so last minute.  I didn’t get you anything.”

“You didn’t have to. You being my date is a gift within itself; besides, Valentine’s Day is for the ladies.  And a man gets a kick out of seeing his lady happy, right fellows?”

The men agreed as she processed his last remark, seeing his lady happy.  Did he think because she accepted the committee’s decision and he’d bought her some inexpensive trinket that she was his lady? Really, I don’t think so.  She began to remove the tissue paper to see what he’d actually bought. The expression on her face and the perfect O shape her dark red lips formed, said she was caught by a sudden surprise, again.

Gazing into his dreamy, dark eyes which held her gaze, she said, “Fletcher, I don’t know what to say, this is so unexpected.”  She leaned over and kissed his lips, leaving her ruby red lipstick behind.  Reaching up to wipe it off, he caught her hand and kissed her fingertips. Tingling sparks traveled all the way down her spine to her candy dish, which caused her to

cross her legs as if everyone knew the impact his kiss had. ♥

“Dana, he truly wanted you to have a nice Valentine’s Day.”  She silently agreed as her eyes followed his lean physique in the line.  Not only was he cute, he smelled and looked good in his clothes; he was thoughtful and considerate.  He actually took time to read her profile to learn what she liked and she was sure he paid attention to her dislikes, as well.  What was she going to do about Fletcher Morrison? He was not the one! ♥

“Dana, would you like to dance?” They were playing good stepping music.

“Sure, let’s see what cha got, Bro. Fletcher.”

“Is that a challenge, Sis. Dana?”

She smiled and dropped her little red purse in her gift bag. Fletcher took her hand and they stepped in perfect harmony, matching each other’s steps onto the dance floor.  He threw in a little cha-cha-cha with her keeping up with his every move.  “Very good, Sis. Dana.”

“Thank you, Bro. Fletcher.” She rewarded him with her refreshing smile, and they got in step with the group. After the second line dance, the pace was picked up with an upbeat song

that had the dancers shedding sweaters, jackets, and heels. She was glad she chose the right shoes for dancing. ♥

Fletcher was still holding Dana’s hand as they waited in the lobby with some of the other couples who had valet service. Everyone was talking about the wonderful time they’d had agreeing that the committee needed to be commended for their excellent planning.  He didn’t know about the others, but he hated that the evening had come to an end and secretly prayed this wouldn’t be the first and final date for them.  She was truly amazing and a joy to be with.  Not one time did she show that shallow side she’d been accused of possessing.  Now he

needed to man up and ask her out to dinner or a movie for tomorrow night. Then, too, maybe he should keep it at a slow pace and just wait for them to be together again at the Sunday social.  Sadly, he saw the attendant pull her car up.

“My car is here,” announced Dana as she glanced up at him.  She didn’t want to say so, but she was not ready to leave him.  Needless to say, she was raised as a prim and proper lady, and that was not the behavior she was to exhibit.  But she did remember what her two advisors had said.  So she did the next best thing, “Fletcher, I had a wonderful time tonight, and thank you, again, for my lovely gifts.  That was so sweet of you.  Maybe we can do this again sometime, you have my number.”

He wanted to catch his flip-flopping heart before it jumped right out of his body.  She’d given him the okay to ask her out.  “Dana, it was my pleasure, and I’m happy you like your gifts.  I also had a fabulous time tonight and if you don’t have anything planned for tomorrow, maybe we can have dinner and take in a movie.”  He held his breath, awaiting her answer.

“That sounds nice, Fletcher. I do have a few routine things to take care of, so after six will be good for me.”

Grinning like he’d just won the lottery, he told her after six would be great, but that he’d still give her a call. They embraced and exchanged kisses on the cheek.  He paid the attendant with a little something extra and opened her door. They said good night with him wishing for a real good night kiss from her, mentally promising himself it would happen the next time…

Fletcher picked up his cell three times to call Dana. If nothing else, he could use the excuse that he was just making sure she arrived home safely. Then he thought that sounded dumb in Allanville, Texas.  He then thought of a better idea which would be best due to the time. He could send a text, instead.

Just as Dana was about to put her cell away after ordering a special gift for him, she received a text. A smile surfaced as she read it: Makin sure u arriv saf / fletch… Good, she was on his mind as well, she thought.

She replied: safely in bed, thanks for being so thoughtful and sweet, again / good night.

Fluffing their pillows, they both drifted off to sleep thinking of each other and their first and next date, which would truly be a surprise for him. ♥
