The Book Catalog- Book #4

sheenabinkley

Happy Thursday! Welcome back to The Book Catalog as we reveal book #4, How Deep Is Your Love.

How Deep Is Your Love is the third book from The Love Chronicles series, which is also a new adult series. I love how Andie and Dexter matured throughout each book, even though there were some times when I wanted to put some sense into Andie with her decision making. Yes, I’m the write of her character, but there are times in certain individuals’ lives that they do not have all the answers, even though they believe they do. With Andie, she thought some of her decision making were wise between her and Dex, but it wasn’t. She didn’t listen to him or his needs, which led to their breakup. But with old memories and getting to know each other once again, made them fall back in love with each other. It took a lot of pushing, but it laoed to them finding their way back to each other.

This story also led to some suprisring storylines with the secondary characters, with surprise couples and a surprise wedding, so this was the turning point with their storylines, which led to The Love Chronicles spin-off series, Forever Love.

Here is an excerpt from Dexter’s perspective as Andie declares her love for him in an unconventional way. This scene also had me crying while writing it, so enjoy. :-)

My dad smiled as he hugged me. Then, he pulled away from me and patted my back.

“Now that we had our talk, I think there’s someone else you need to talk with.”

“I know. I was thinking about calling Andie now.”

“Not on the phone. In person.”

“What?” I gave a confused look as my dad laughed.

“Go to the window, Dex. There’s a surprise for you.”

I was still confused as I slowly walked to the window. I looked down to see Andie standing on the grass. She had a sweet smile on her beautiful face as she held up a piece of paper. She glanced at it as she started to read. When she did, I genuinely smiled when I realized it was the letter I’d sent her.

“Dear Ask Region,

I have been in an on-again, off-again relationship with the girl next door for almost four years. Before getting into a relationship, we were best friends. We always had fun together, as we both knew that we would be together forever.

When we got older, we drifted apart, but we found our way back to each other. We even confessed our love at our high school graduation.

As we approached college, we decided to take the next step in our relationship and move in together. We also became engaged, which was the happiest day of my life. Instead, that was when the problems began.

After things ended, we had other encounters until we reconnected again on my sister’s wedding weekend. We got back together, never fully accepting our pasts and futures. We broke up again after an accusation was made. My other half, who I thought would be with me for life, is gone again. I feel my life will never be the same because the love of my life is no longer with me.”

Andie put down the letter as she wiped tears from her cheeks. I stared at her as she mouthed, “I’m okay,” before reading again.

“Andie, no matter what happens in our lives, just know how much I love you. I have loved you since I was a little kid. Hell, I loved you even when I was still in my mother’s womb. You have seen me through my best and even through my worst. You have been by my side through everything; I want you to know that I will be there to support you no matter what you do.

I can’t let you walk out of my life again, even though I was a jerk to you. You deserve every success happening now, so I will do what I can to make your dreams a reality.

Please, baby, please forgive me. Let’s start over again. I love you.

Dexter,”

She put down the letter as she stared at me. I stood by the window, speechless, as she walked over to the tree near my bedroom. I couldn’t believe she was about to climb up to my window.

“Andie, you don’t have to do this!”

“I want to, Dex. You’ve done it so often for me; let me do it for you this time.”

I watched her, praying she wouldn’t fall as she carefully climbed up. I held out my arms to catch her when she came in. When she did, I quickly put her in my arms as she held me.

“See, you’re not the only one who can do surprises.”

I laughed. “Yeah, but you never climbed up here. I was scared for you.”

“I made it, didn’t I?”

“You did. Is this the reason why I haven’t heard from you?”

She nodded. “I wanted to surprise you by coming in person. I wanted to come as soon as I’d read your letter, but today was the earliest I could get a flight. It was hard not to call you.”

“I’m just glad you’re here now.”

I let go of her as she looked around my room.

“Did anyone else know you were coming?”

“Besides your parents and mine, Mashawn, Regina knew, but not the guys. If they knew, they would have told you. You know they can’t hold water.”

I laughed. “They can’t. I’m sure it’s hard for Mashawn and Regina, though.”

“It was, but they managed.”

As I approached, she began to fidget with her hands. I put my hands over hers, and she smiled.

“Mashawn told me that you’re moving.”

“Yeah. I found an apartment near my job. It’s way bigger than the apartment we had.”

“Really? That’s great.”

“It is. I hope that I’ll be able to purchase a house in the next two years. But that’s only if you’ll be in it with me.”

She stared at me as I gripped her hand tighter. “I meant what I said in the letter, Andie. I’ll do what it takes for us to be together. If you accept the position, then we…”

“I’m not, Dexter. I declined the position.”

I looked at her, shocked at what she just said. “Seriously? You turned down the job?”

“What you said that night made me think about a lot of things. Yes, it was a great opportunity, but being an advice columnist is not what I want to do. There will be other opportunities for me; I have to pray and be patient.”

“You turned down the job for me?”

“Well, for us, and I know there’s something better for me out there. I have to believe that there is.” “And it will be. You’re so talented, Andie. Any newspaper would be lucky to have you.”

“Or broadcast channel. I could always jump and do TV.” “The possibilities are endless.”

She smiled. “It is. You were right about what you said. I should consider your feelings, which I haven’t been doing. For that, I apologize. You are so special to me, so I want us to see our relationship through. I don’t ever want to lose you again.”

“I don’t want to lose you either.” I pulled her to me and gave her a passionate kiss.

We’re down to the final three books in The Book Catalog, so check back tomorrow to see which book is at #3.

Until then, happy reading! :-)
