Love – Chapter 3

Sheena binkley

Here is chapter three of Love. Enjoy! 🙂

Sophia and Layla walked into Macy’s at the mall and started to look around.

“Sophia, I know you’ve been thinking about Patrick today, so I hope you don’t take this the wrong way.”

Sophia glanced at Layla as she slowly cleared her throat. “If you love him like you say you do, why don’t you try and work things out with him? I know Patrick said it was because of James, but Natalie was also responsible for the incident. She basically tried to break you two up.”

“Well, she got her wish; she can have him if she wants.”

“You don’t mean that. Patrick is your first love. You two are meant for each other. Besides, Natalie is and will always be a stank. I knew that girl was trouble from the beginning.”

“Layla, stop.”

“I’m just telling the truth. Anyway, if you want things to work out with Patrick, I suggest you call him and talk things out.”

Sophia sighed. “I would, but I’m not. I haven’t done anything wrong for us to break up. Patrick should know that I wouldn’t cheat on him; especially not with James.”

“You’re telling me when James came back into the picture, you never thought about dropping Patrick to be with him?”

“No, because with Patrick I found true love.”

“So, should it matter who was right or wrong with the argument? If you two love each other, then you should be able to find your way back to each other, right?”

Sophia looked at Layla and smiled. “You’re right, but I’m not calling him.”

“Fine, but I just don’t want you moping around the entire day. Why don’t you put your mind off of Patrick and shop? I see a shirt with your name on it.”

Sophia shrugged. “Fine, let’s go.”

The two walked towards the junior’s department to look around….

Sophia walked into the student lounge and saw Patrick sitting outside on the patio. She slowly walked up to him and gently touched his shoulder. He looked up and smiled.

“Hey. Are you feeling better today?”

“Yeah. I got your messages. Sorry, I didn’t call you back.”

“It’s cool, but, why didn’t you?”

Sophia sighed. “I was scared. Patrick, I made an ass out of myself on our first date. I got drunk and puked on you. I was surprised that you even called me again.”

Patrick smiled. “I wanted to check to see if you were okay. Just because all of that happened doesn’t mean I’m not going to stop talking to you. Sophia, you are a great girl and what happened isn’t going to change how I feel about you. Hell, shit happens.”

Sophia gave a strange glance. “So, you’re not mad?”

“Why should I be? That was another reason why I was calling; I was hoping we could go out again this weekend.”

Sophia started to laugh. “Patrick Baker, either you must really like me or you’re just plain weird.”

Patrick took Sophia’s hand and kissed it. “I guess what you’re saying is true. So, do you want to go out with me again, Miss Davis?”

“I would like that.”

The two stared at each other and smiled….

Sophia looked at a shirt that Layla held up.

“You like it?” she asked.

Sophia smiled. “Yeah, I do.”

Patrick walked into the mall entrance. He needed to do something instead of sitting at home watching TV.

And to get my mind off of Sophia.

He took a walk around the mall, glancing at the different stores, until he stopped at the toy store. He went inside to look around.

To be honest, I don’t even know why we broke up. He thought as he looked at some action figures. Everything was perfect between us. I miss her so much.

He walked over to the stuffed animals section. He immediately noticed one and picked it up.

This is the bear I gave Sophia the night I told her I loved her. That’s the night that I would never forget….

January 14, 2012

“You’re having fun tonight?” Patrick asked Sophia. The two were walking hand in hand in the park.

Sophia smiled. “I’m having a great time.”

Patrick smiled. “I’m glad to hear that.”

The two stopped at a bench and sat down. The two watched the moon reflecting off the lake in front of them.

“This is the perfect night. The atmosphere is romantic, and I’m with a wonderful guy. I couldn’t had asked for anything more.”

Patrick gave a sexy glance. “You’re sure about that?”

Sophia raised her eyebrow. “What are you up to?”

“Wait right here and you’ll find out.” He said. He quickly got up and went towards his car. He came back with a gift bag.

“Patrick, you really didn’t have to buy me anything.”

“Just open it. I promise you’ll love it.”

Sophia looked inside the bag and slowly pulled out her gift. It was a white teddy bear dressed in a blue tux with a blue hat. She immediately smiled.

“This is really nice. Thank you, baby.”

“You’re welcome.”

“I feel really bad because I haven’t bought you anything, or…”

“Don’t worry about that. You don’t have to buy me anything. Just keep being around me and enjoying my company.”

Sophia smiled. “That’s not too hard to do.”

She reached over and kissed Patrick. They deepened the kiss, as Sophia pulled Patrick closer to her. As soon as they pulled away, Patrick took a deep breath.

“Sophia, there’s something I need to tell you.”

Sophia gave a concerned look. “What is it?”

Patrick gave her a serious look as he put her hands into his. “Baby, we have been together for four months and I feel like I’ve known you for years.”

Sophia smiled. “I feel the same way.”

“Let me finish. Sophia, I love you.”

Sophia was speechless as Patrick caressed her hands. “Are you okay?”

Sophia let go of Patrick and got up. She walked over to the swings as Patrick followed her.

“If I said it too soon then I apologize, but Sophia, I’m not going to hide my feelings for you. I’m so comfortable around you and even though we’ve known each other for a short while, I feel as if we’re one.”

Sophia turned around to stare at Patrick. “How do you know if it’s love? Don’t you think four months is too soon to tell?”

“No, it’s not. I know you feel the same way. I can tell by the look in your eyes.”

A tear rolled down Sophia’s cheek as she ran a hand through her hair. Patrick stepped to her and wiped her tear away. “Why are you crying, baby?”

Sophia gave a tiny smile. “All of my life I wanted to hear those words from the guy that I loved. When I heard those words for the first time from my first boyfriend, I felt like the most special girl in the world. But you know what he’d done to me? He cheated on me. Another guy said it to me too, and he left me. So how do I know you’re not going to be any different from them?”

“Sophia, I’m sorry for what those guys had done to you, but I’m not them. Baby, you have to believe me when I say I love you. I would never hurt you.”

“How do I know that?”

“Just trust me. Life is all about taking risks, and this time is no different. I’m asking you to take a chance with me. Forget about all of the guys that have hurt you. Those guys didn’t know what they had in you; but I know and I damn know that I wouldn’t want you to slip away.”

Sophia put a hand on Patrick’s cheek. He put her in his arms as she took a deep breath.

“I love you.” He whispered.

“I love you too…”

Patrick looked at the bear one last time before putting it back on the rack.

“I meant what I said, Sophia. I’m not letting you go.”
