LLH: Book 2 Chapters 11 & 12

Happy Sunday!! I had a busy day yesterday, so of course, chapter 11 was not posted. To make it up to everyone, I posted chapter 11 and 12.  And you will be shocked at the end of chapter 12.

Enjoy 🙂

Chapter 11

Britney stared at herself in the mirror, taking in her appearance when Marcus leaned against her. He kissed the back of her neck while his hands went around her.

“You look gorgeous.” he said, kissing her cheek.

“Thanks.” she smiled.

She turned to stare at him while he went to the closet. She sighed, not knowing if she should start a conversation regarding Riana. She knew Riana was still embarrassed about what happened, but she needed to see if anything was out of the ordinary with him too.

“I talked to Ri earlier. She hasn’t been herself since what happened between you two.”

Marcus walked back into the bedroom with a pair of jeans and orange Polo shirt in his hands.

“Why do you say that?”

“She seemed kind of jumpy, as if she didn’t want to admit something was wrong.”

“I’m sure it’s not.”

“Maybe so, but it kind of bothering me. I’ve known Ri for a long time, so I know this is not normal behavior for her.”

“Maybe she’s stress with school.”

“The semester just started, so she shouldn’t be too stressed out.”

“Whatever it is, I’m sure she will get through it. Right now, you should focus on the good time we’re going to have together.” he said, giving her a kiss before going to the dresser.

“I know and I will. Where are we going anyway?”

“I was thinking something causal, like dinner and bowling.”

“Sounds good. Maybe we should invite Shawn and Ri. I know Shawn’s been busy now with his internship, so he probably will enjoy the night out.”

Marcus gave a hesitant look before speaking.

“I don’t think that’s a good idea.”

“Why not?”

“They probably want to spend some time alone since they haven’t seen each other lately.”

Britney nodded and gave a bright smile.

“I know RI though; she loves bowling, so this should get her out of the funk she’s in. I’ll text her and ask.”

Marcus watched while Britney pulled out her phone. He sighed, realizing he wasn’t going to be able to get out of Britney’s planned event.

“Don’t you think we should spend some time together?”

“We will, at dinner. Since this is a new semester, we should all find a way to let loose and have some fun. I’ll also text Monica and Cheryl and see if they want to go.”

Marcus shook his head, realizing he’ll have to be around Riana and Shawn, which was not something he wanted to see. After what happened between them earlier, she was all he could think about. He wished he was with her now, kissing and touching her. He could still smell the perfume she had on, which hopefully Britney doesn’t notice when she was around him.

“Okay, it’s set. Even though Riana was trying to get out of it, Shawn interrupted, saying they will be there. Cheryl can’t make it, but I think Chris will be able to come, and Monica will be there.”

“Great.” Marcus muttered.

“What’s with the long face? It’s going to be fun.” she said, giving him a kiss on the cheek.

He grabbed his clothes and went into the bathroom. Maybe if he took a long shower, Britney would be too comfortable to leave.  With all the planning she’s doing, it seemed as if she was trying to get him and Riana in the same room. Riana did mention Britney may be suspicious of the two, but they haven’t given her any reason to be.

Whatever she was up to, they have to be on their A-game, so no one would be suspicious.

***

Riana glanced at Shawn. She couldn’t believe he agreed to go out without even asking her if she wanted to go. She really didn’t want to put on a show and act like she was having fun when she was miserable.

“I really don’t want to go out, Shawn.” she said. She had her arms folded across her chest with a stern look on her face.

“Why not? I rarely have a free night now, so this will be fun.”

“Don’t you think we should be spending it alone then?”

“We spent all day together, so it won’t be a big deal.” he said, giving her a quick kiss. “Not that I mind that you are still naked, but shouldn’t you be getting ready?”

“I prefer not to.”

“Come on, Ri. You love bowling.”

“I do, but I just want to spend time with you.”

“And you will. Once we have a night out with our friends, we’ll come back here and spend more quality time together.” he said.

Riana sighed and went to the closet. She took a deep breath, trying to figure out what excuse she could come up with. She texted Cheryl to ask if she was going. She texted her back, saying she has something to do for A&P and would not be able to go, but Chris was since she had to cancel her date with him. Riana sighed, wondering if maybe Monica was going. Maybe if she was there she could talk to her and not have to worry about Marcus. She said she was going, which made her a little relieved.

After getting dressed, she and Shawn was headed to the bowling alley ready for the night to begin. Shawn smiled as he gently placed her hand in his.

“Do you know how much I love you?” he asked.

Riana smiled. “Of course I know. I love you just as much.”

Shawn squeezed her hand as they approached the building. They were a little early since Britney and Marcus were going to dinner first.

They saw Chris and Monica at the entrance talking when they approached them.

“What’s up?” Chris asked, giving Shawn a brotherly hug and Riana a quick hug.

“Hey. It seemed as if we haven’t seen you two in a while.” Monica said, giving the two a hug.

“It feels like it. How’s everyone’s classes so far?” Shawn asked.

“Can’t complain. I have an easy semester, so I’m good.” Chris said.

“I wish I can say the same. The instructors I have must have been planning the entire semester during the summer because I have a shitload of stuff to do.”

“Join the club. I’m trying to figure out how I’m going to balance it all with work and my internship.” Shawn said.

“I guess you need this night then.” Chris said.

“Definitely. So why Cheryl couldn’t come?”

“She had some work to do in her A&P class. You remember Devin Marshall, right?” Chris asked.

“I think I do. He was kind of a slacker who didn’t take anything seriously.”

“That’s him. Anyway, he’s Cheryl’s lab partner. The guy is a jerk and I don’t want him around her.”

“I don’t think you have a choice if they’re partners. “

“I know. I told him to keep his distance from her, which Cheryl had a fit about.”

“In this situation, you probably have to let things go. I believe she can handle herself with him.”

“I know.”

The two continued to talk when Shawn saw Marcus and Britney walk to the entrance.

“Hey, you two.”

“Hey. So who’s ready to bowl?” Britney asked with a huge grin.

“I am.” Monica said.

Shawn glanced at Riana, who was staring at Marcus. He looked at Marcus, who seemed nonchalant as he placed an arm around Britney. He sighed, realized he’s thinking too much.

They all walked in to get a lane when Shawn saw Dominique with a group of friends. She glanced at him and waved.  She walked over giving everyone a warm smile.

“Hey, I didn’t expect to see you here.” she said to Shawn.

“Yeah, taking a little break from everything. I see you’re doing the same.”

“Actually, my friends dragged me out. I rather be in my dorm room sleeping.”

“It’s nothing wrong with having a fun night out.”

Dominique smiled when Riana started to clear her throat.

“Oh, sorry baby. Riana, this is my internship partner, Dominique; Dominique, this is my girlfriend, Riana.”

“Nice to finally meet the girl Shawn can’t stop talking about.” Dominique said, extending her hand out to Riana.

Riana gave a tiny smile and shook her hand.

“He told me a lot about you as well. For starters, how you’re continuously flirting with him when he has a girlfriend.”

Dominique gave a nervous expression and quickly took her hand away from Riana.

“I’m sorry about that.”

“No need to be; I know my man is fine, but he’s taken, so I suggest you find another guy to flirt with. Did I make myself clear?”

Shawn looked at Riana, not sure where her attitude was coming from.

“Crystal.” Dominique said.

“Baby, can I talk to you for a second?” Shawn asked.

“Fine.” Riana said. The two went back outside and to the parking lot.

“What the hell was that?” he asked.

“Excuse me! I had to let her know that you’re taken.”

“I appreciate that, but you didn’t have to do that. I have to work with her every day.”

“I know and I’m sorry, but she automatically had a crazy look on her face once you introduced me. She’s someone that can’t be trusted.”

“And you picked that up in a second?”

“I’m a woman, I know these things.”

“You know, I have to admit that was a turn-on.” Shawn said, going over to Riana.

“Oh really?” she said, putting her arms around him.

“Yeah. So much so that we could recreate the time we had earlier today, but in the backseat.” Shawn whispered.

“We’re in a parking lot of a public place.”

“So.” Shawn said.

“Let’s wait until later, okay. I’m not trying to get arrested tonight.”

“Fine. I’m looking forward to it.” he said, giving her a kiss.

Riana smiled and they walked back inside.

“What was that about?” Britney asked.

“Nothing, just had to set some things straight. Now, which lane are we bowling on?” Riana asked.

Britney sighed and went with Riana to their lane. Marcus glanced at her, which made Riana look away.

Britney looked at the two, still sensing something was wrong. She thought by putting the two in the same room would work. Hopefully, she’ll get the answer she needed soon.

Chapter 12

Cheryl glanced at Devin, not sure if she should had met him for the date instead of him picking her up. After what happened between them earlier, she was a little nervous to be around him, because she didn’t know what to expect around him now. She didn’t know if she wanted to stay away from him or be all over him. Whatever feelings she had, she needed to let them go, especially since she’s with Chris.

Devin looked at her and smiled.

“You look beautiful, Cheryl.” he said.

She blushed and stared at the picturesque view of the city. The two were seated inside the Belmont,

which was a very exclusive restaurant. She didn’t know how the two were even seated inside. From what she heard, the restaurant had a three-month reservation list.

“You look great too. I can’t believe we are here. And you told me to be dressy causal.”

“I did, and you still look great. Besides, the dress code is fine for us.”

“Why is that? And how were you able to get reservations?”

“Because I know the owner.” he said, taking a sip of water.

“Really?”

“Yeah. It’s my brother, so I asked for a favor and he was able to squeeze us in. Cool, huh?”

“I guess so.” Cheryl said.

“Cheryl, I don’t want you to think that I’m trying to win you over with expensive dinners. I figured this is something you deserve since you’re always at work and now with school.”

“That’s really sweet, Devin.”

“Can I ask you something?”

“Sure.”

“How did you end up with Thomas? I mean, from what I’ve known of you so far, he doesn’t seem like your type.”

“And you are?”

“Did I say anything about me?”

“I know what you’re trying to do and it’s not going to work.”

“What am I trying to do, Cheryl? I just asked you a question.”

“If you must know, Chris is a great guy. He’s smart, funny, and generous. He’s an all-around nice guy.”

“Could have fooled me.”

“I don’t know what happened between you two in high school, but hopefully it doesn’t interfere with us being lab partners.”

“You should tell your boyfriend that since he was the one being a dick earlier.”

“You were right along in there.”

“Can we stop talking about him please and enjoy this night?”

Cheryl sighed. Even though she should be having a great time, she couldn’t because she felt guilty about lying to Chris. She never lied to him, making this dinner with Devin even more complicated.

A band was near the corner of the restaurant playing jazz tunes when she saw several couples going to the center to dance. Devin looked at her and smiled.

“You want to dance?”

“I don’t think so.”

“Why not?”

“Because that’s something I should be doing with Chris. I still feel guilty for lying to him.”

“I thought we weren’t going to talk about him anymore.”

“Sorry if I have a conscience.”

Devin extended his hand to her.

“I know it won’t take away your guilty feelings, but it will relax you a little.”

Cheryl sighed and grabbed his hand. The two went out to the floor and began to slow dance.

“You know what will make me relax?” she asked.

“I’m sure, which you will not get until after the date.”

Cheryl stared at the window while Devin placed his hand around her waist. She looked at him, not knowing what to do.

“You can get closer if you want to.” he said.

She swallowed the lump that was growing in her throat. She didn’t know why, but she liked the way he was pressed against her. His cologne was enchanting as she put her arms around him.

“Believe me when I say I won’t try anything, but I have to admit how bad I want you right now.”

Cheryl glanced at him, wondering if she wanted the same thing. But right now, she has to remain focus, and being with Devin was not it.

“Let’s just continue dancing, please. Maybe after the date, we can actually work on our A&P assignment.”

“Sure.” Devin said.

Cheryl sighed. She wished she could talk to someone about her dilemma, but she already blasted Riana for her feelings for Marcus. She would be a hypocrite if she admitted any type of feelings for someone else.

That’s why I have to keep this to myself.

***

After what happened earlier with Dominique, Riana was having a good time with her friends. Maybe Shawn and Britney was right; they all needed some time together and have some fun.

There was one thing that was sort of ruining the night and that was Marcus continuing to stare at her. She didn’t want him to be so obvious, especially if anyone was looking at the two.

Since the girls were playing against the guys, the game was even when Riana got up from her chair.

“I’ll be back. I’m going to the restroom.” she said to Shawn.

“Okay.”

She went to the corner where the restrooms were and walked inside. She didn’t need to go; she was finding an excuse to be away from Marcus for a few minutes. She paced back and forth, looking at her reflection in the mirror when the door opened. She looked at the mirror and saw Marcus walking in.

“What the hell are you doing?” she asked while turning around.

“We need to talk.” he said, closing the door behind him.

“This is the women’s restroom.”

“I can read the sign, Ri.”

“You need to leave.”

“Not until I do this.” he said, going toward her. He put his hands on the side of her face and gave her a kiss that almost made her lose her balance. She was shocked he was kissing her again, but a part of her was jumping for joy that he was.

She walked backwards, bumping to the sink and Marcus picked her up. She wrapped her legs around him as he kissed her neck.

“I wanted to do that since I saw you outside.” Marcus whispered.

“We can’t do this.” Riana said.

“I know, but I had to. I can’t stop thinking about you and what happened earlier.”

“We shouldn’t be thinking about this. We’re with other people.”

Marcus stared at her and unbuttoned her jeans. She wanted to stop him, but for some reason, she couldn’t.

He kissed her again while slowly sliding her jeans and panties down to her ankles.

“Someone can walk in on us.” she said softly.

But Marcus wasn’t listening. He slid a finger inside of her, which made her moan.

“I needed to hear you moan again.” he whispered.

She closed her eyes while holding on to his shoulders. He caressed her, giving her slow, sweet kisses down her neck.

Riana knew this was wrong. She should not be letting him be so intimate with her, but the feelings she was having right then wasn’t guilt, but instead full-fledge lust.

She went up to his ear, softly moaning while he pumped his finger in and out of her. Before she knew it, her legs started to shake. She leaned her head back, nearly bumping it on the mirror.

Marcus glanced at her, wanting to do much more. He wanted to be inside of her, giving her that same intense feeling she’d just experienced.

Riana controlled her breathing, realizing what she had just done. She hopped up from the sink, quickly putting her jeans around her waist.

“Riana…”

“No. We shouldn’t have done that. You shouldn’t have come in here.”

“Riana…”

“We’ve been gone for too long. Someone will start looking for us.” she said. She quickly went to the door and flung it open.

Marcus sighed, realizing him and Riana did go too far. He hit his fist against the sink, glancing at himself in the mirror. He doesn’t even know who he was anymore. Everything that he and his brother had stood for is completely out of the window. The two said they would never go after each other’s girlfriends, which is beginning to make him feel completely ill.

He shook his head to clear his thoughts before going back out. He stood tall, looked at himself again in the mirror and washed his hands. He glanced at himself one more time before going to the door.

As soon as it was closed, one of the bathroom stalls opened and Dominique walked to the sink with a smug smile on her face.

“That bitch thought she had one up on me. Now, I can’t wait to tell Shawn how devoted his girlfriend is to him.”
