Hi everyone! For those of you who have preordered Real Love, the book has been delayed by a couple of days to May 3rd. Not to worry, though, because preorder copies will be sent on the new release date.

For now, here is an excerpt from the first chapter of Real Love. It’s from Shawn’s POV. Enjoy! 🙂

When I first stepped foot on the campus of Shaw University, I didn’t know what path I wanted to take in my career. I was an undeclared major, just taking things day-by-day. I never imagined I would be where I am today, a reporter for a national news network. I can’t help but smile at what I’ve accomplished. God has definitely been good to me, in more ways than one.

“Baby…”

I looked over and saw my wife, Riana, staring at me. A huge grin spread across her lips as she came closer to me.

“Reminiscing again?” she asked.

“I wasn’t trying to.”

“Well, it’s expected. You’ve accomplished so much in such a short amount of time.”

“You have, too, Mrs. Best-Selling Author.”

Riana blushed. “I have, but it doesn’t compare to where you’re heading. Your dreams are coming true, and I couldn’t be happier for you.”

Our dreams are coming true, baby. Don’t ever forget that.” She smiled then kissed me.

After our vacation at Riana’s family’s cabin, we took a four-hour flight from Houston to Atlanta. Since the African-American News Network had provided transportation to our new digs, we were more than excited to get there.

The driver was now pulling into the driveway of our new, temporary, home, courtesy of the network. I don’t know how long we’ll be staying here, but I’m going to live it up for as long as I can.

“Is this our new home, Daddy?”

I looked over at my son, Elis, and smiled. “It is, lil man.”

“Wow, it looks huge!”

“It really does. Are you sure this is the right place?” Riana asked, skeptically.

“It’s the address Oliver gave me.”

“Wow, it’s amazing! And we’re just outside.”

The driver stopped the van, and we all got out.  He stopped me to hand me the keys and welcome me to the network. We rushed into the building. Once we stepped inside, my feet felt like they were glued to the hardwood floor as I looked around the place. It was amazing.

“Wow! I can’t believe we’ll be living here!” Riana gushed. She walked a few steps then spun around in the middle of the foyer.

I continued taking in everything: the golden brown walls, the elaborate tan and cream furniture in the living room, and the sculptures located throughout the penthouse.

While Elis ran up and down the foyer, Riana came to me and gently looped her arm through mine.

“Just think of all of the places we can make love,” she whispered with a sexy smile.

“I knew you would notice that,” I teased.

“I did; I guess I’m in awe of everything. We are officially home in Atlanta.”

“We are, and I have to admit, we’re doing it in style.”

“We certainly are,” she agreed.

“I’ll have to call Oliver and thank him for everything he’s done so far. I haven’t even started the position yet, and I’m already overwhelmed.”

“I wouldn’t feel that way. It’s just a new chapter in your life; be proud of it.”

I smiled. “I’m just happy that you and Elis are with me and that Melanie will be here soon.”

“Yes! I can’t wait to see her.”

I turned her so she was facing me then gently grabbed her hips. She put her arms around me and smiled wider.

“You know I would go anywhere with you, just like you would for me.”

“No doubt, baby. I love you.”

“I love you, too.”

Just as we were about to kiss, Elis pushed his way between us. We laughed as he grabbed our legs.

“Can I see my room, please?” he asked.

“Yes, you can. Come on,” I replied, picking him up. He giggled as I threw him over my shoulder. I glanced at Ri, who was looking at us adoringly.

I have a feeling that the move to ATL will be pretty interesting. I’m looking forward to what lies ahead for myself and my family.

There is still time to preorder. The spinoff to the Love, Life, & Happiness series will be available only on Amazon.
