I am native Houstonian with two adult daughters. I’ve spent my adult life teaching children in the public school system and loved every minute of it. Now, I’m a retired (Halleluiah) teacher of thirty plus years and love every minute of that for sure. My main interest and hobbies includes listening to Pandora, my own playlist which inspires my writing, playing spider solitaire, working bent and wiggly word search and Sudoku puzzles. I’m also an avid reader of every genre in the AA Romance category which prompted me to become a writer.
Therefore, it’s my honor and pleasure to invite you into my world of l women fiction with a contemporary Christian romance flavor. I have penned twelve of the sweetest tales with plus size women as the heroine, touching your every emotion. My heroines are beautiful and sophisticated with high self-esteem. They are not looking for a man to validate their worth…just love them for who they are. Drama, the element of surprise with twist and turns, romance and a little bit of heat, is featured in each story.

I’ve created group for y readers. I would like to extend an invitation to join. Here’s the link if you are interested.

1. Besides writing, what else do you like to do?
I love reading, listening to oldies but goodies, working bent & wiggly word search puzzles, watching old sitcoms, and socializing with family and friends. Facebook has also been a hobby of mine since I interact with several on-line groups. I enjoy spending time with each group.
2. What inspired you to become an author?
Being a serious avid reader of AA romance, when I first started reading there were no stories featuring plus-size women. I had the notion to write my own story in 96 with a plus-size sistah as the heroine and the rest is history. I like to say I was the first to step out on faith and write such a story.
3. What was your first reaction when your debut novel was published?
Unbelievable fantastic excitement! Since I was an unknown self-published author I knew it would take some time. Due to meeting the Arabesque authors in the late 90s, I was given a wealth of support and encouragement. How awesome it was to meet my favorite authors who inspired me to do you.
4. Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
I would like to reword this question a bit and say I would like to see myself doing what I love and enjoy doing alone with giving a helping hand to other aspiring authors. Maybe have my own Blog page and on-line book club.
5. Do you have any new projects that you are currently working on?
Yes, I’m happy to say I have a novella called This Time, (book 2) to the Golden Age Series will be out sometime this month. I also bought another country town called Blackmore, Texas which two new stories will take place. I can’t wait to share the lives of in my small town. lol
6. What advice can you give to anyone who wants to become an author?
Read the genre you are interested in writing and start writing! During the process interact with groups and authors to guide you in the right direction for promoting your work. By all means, don’t get so anxious and make common mistakes that most of us do that could have been avoided.

BABY I’M FOR REAL
What is about being raised in a loving home with Christian and virtuous values…hearing the same quotes and sayings from the older women in your family…the night has a thousand eyes…and what’s done in the dark will soon come out in the light…and you don’t listen. What, it doesn’t apply to you? You think God is going to give you some brownie points? Uhn uhn, what’s gone happen is you gone reap what you sow, according to your grandmothers!
Angelina Creswell and Kane Atkins were both raised in loving Christian homes with lots of wisdom and upstanding morals. They were both taught family was very important and sacrifices must be made if you’re going to do it right. That was why marriage before babies, which was God’s plan, was the way. These two missed that…no they ignored his way to satisfy their desires. Yes children are a blessing and a gift from God…all things happen for a reason…having babies and not married is not a big deal during these times, especially if you’re over thirty…it’s not the end of the world. Humph, no it’s not, but it can be mess! And that’s what these two strong willed individuals have, a mess!

Excerpt from Baby I’m For Real:
Kane jerked his head toward her as the words spilled from her mouth. She wasn’t surprised with his reaction, but so what? “You’re three months pregnant,” he yelled, as he paced back and forth in her spacious open living area.
“Eight weeks,” Angelina corrected.
He glared at her and his voice became high-pitched, “Eight weeks, three months, what difference does it make?” His arms flapped in the air like a vulture about to swoop down on its prey. “When were you going to tell me? When the baby got here?” he asked, and snatched her up to his chest.
“Calm down, Kane, I just found out myself when I went for my physical last week,” she explained, and eased out of his iron tight hold. “And when I called, you didn’t answer nor return any of my calls. As a matter of fact, I haven’t seen or heard from you in three weeks, except from a distance. It’s like you were avoiding me even at work. So, what was I supposed to do? Huh, Kane? Tell me.”
He held his hands up, backed away, and began to pace. She was right, he had been avoiding her. The only reason he followed her home after work was because she had blown his phone up with calls and texts. She insisted what she had to say needed to be said in person.
Angelina rubbed her arms as she watched the drop-dead gorgeous, six-three, lean hunk with smooth, peanut butter-colored skin pace her ice blue carpeted floor as if he was a trapped animal. She knew she had to think clearly and play her hand just right for her plan to work. Mmmm, she wanted some him in a bad way. She had always had the hots for Kane Atkins with his John Legend looks. All he had to do was flash that dazzling smile of his and pay her a compliment or two, and bammm. But that was not going to happen anymore, probably not ever after tonight. Knowing him, he was going to run like he had stolen something. He was livid with her news.
Angelina knew she really had to put on a grand performance to make him believe she was as stunned and distraught as he was. Surprised, yes, but upset, no. She was happy to be pregnant and more so with him being the father. Deep down inside, she knew she would not have to raise the baby alone. Kane Atkins would make a great father once he got over the initial shock, especially since he was his dad’s clone and just like the other men in the Atkins and Mitchell families. But, he was the only player in the entire bunch. His brother got married right out of high school, and he and his wife chose to make careers out of the armed services. They started their family a few years ago and visited their Texas family at least four times during the year. Even his cousins on both sides are married with families, but not the player.
“How did this happen, Angelina?” he asked, snapping her completely out of her train of thought. “You said you were using birth control.” Kane’s stone stare was slightly unsettling, especially after he grabbed her. He was beyond being angry. He was outright furious, cute, but fuming.
She knew very well, she had been careless with her birth-control, but it was not on purpose. She wouldn’t dare try to entrap him or any other man, for that matter. However, she still had to convince him there was no intentional foul play. He was the one, who was in too big of a hurry, to use protection once or twice. “Kane, how do you think I feel, really, at thirty-four years old and pregnant? I never wanted to have a baby without marriage first.”
He glared at her. “So, is this what this is all about, Angelina? You wanting to get married to me?” he spat out nastily. Temper, temper…choose your words, warned his inner man. Instead of saying what was really on his mind, Kane held his tongue, flopped down in her extra-wide wood-trimmed side chair, and covered his face. Even though he didn’t say what was on his mind, he still thought it. Now, everything was coming to surface. She had been dropping hints after catching the bridal bouquet at the last wedding they attended. Yeah, they had been dating for a few months, but that didn’t mean marriage was in the picture.
Now, she really had to be convincing. He’d brought up the idea of marriage. She knew she had been dropping hints about them being in a committed relationship, which was before he did his disappearing act. “Let me tell you something, Kane Atkins. I wouldn’t marry you if you were the last man on earth. I just wanted you to know I’m pregnant with your child. Trust me when I say this, we don’t need nothing from you. God has blessed me all the way around with a good job, benefits, and a nice place of my own. So, I will say this again. We. Don’t. Need. You. For. Anything.” Angelina walked to her front door and opened it. She then crossed her arms under her plump breasts, shifted her weight to one side, and gave him the side eye. “Please leave and don’t come back!”
She didn’t have to tell him twice, thought Kane. He got up out of the chair and did just that without another word being said between the two of them.
Oops, that was too convincing! Angelina stood at the window to peep through the curtains. She watched him get in his light gold, metallic Range Rover and drive off. Mmmm, that worked too well, thought Angelina, after closing her curtain.
