author interview

1. Besides writing, what else do you like to do?

Besides writing, I like to sleep. Lol. If I am not at work, coming up with another theme for a book, I am sleep. I can’t seem to get much of that these days and I enjoy it when I can.

2. What inspired you to become an author?

I honestly inspired myself to write. I have always been an avid reader and wrote a little short story back in high school, but never thought of writing as a career. There was a post in a group for a short story contest and I decided to enter. Once I passed five thousand words, I was like “Oh, wait! This is good!” A few authors I know explained how the whole publishing your book works and it was a wrap after I submitted it. I started the book on November 1st and was complete by the night of Thanksgiving with 50k words. I was still in school and working two jobs and couldn’t believe I accomplished something so dear to my heart.

3. What was your first reaction when your debut novel was published?

When the novel was first published, I cried. It dropped on my mom’s birthday, who passed away from cancer when I was younger. I was overjoyed and couldn’t wait for others to read my work. The fact that my name was written across the cover of a book was just crazy to me. I kept laughing because it seemed so surreal. The love and support on release day was the best feeling ever.

4. Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?

In the next five years, I hope to be dating and pregnant (wishful thinking) with my dream job. I didn’t go to school just to write. I want to put my degree to work or wherever God takes me. I just want him to use me & guide me on the right path. My path. 5. What advice can you give to anyone who wants to become an author?

To anyone who is thinking of becoming an author, the main thing to remember is to stay true yourself and your craft. I put my all into my work and whomever you decide to publish with should give the same amount of effort, if not more. This journey is for you and no one else, so you should cherish these special moments in your life with those who want to help and see you succeed!

From Speechless part 1: When Love Hurts

Prologue

“Got damn Brooke. This pussy so wet & tight,” I heard him moan loudly into my ear.

I looked up at him while biting my lip and stifling my moans. I grabbed his face with both hands and went straight for his neck. I knew that was his spot. The dick was feeling so good, it hurt. But I did not want him to stop. Ever since I became pregnant, my hormones were ridiculous. I couldn’t stay off of him. I was like a kid who couldn’t get enough of going to Chuck E. Cheese. I just kept going back for the thrill.

But the thrill should have ended a long time ago. This was wrong. We were dead fucking wrong for this, but we couldn’t control it. Or was it me that needed to feel him inside me whenever we were apart? To feel him caress the side of my face ever so gently & listen to him whisper sweet nothings in my ear. “Why does something so bad, feel so good?” I asked myself.

I knew from the first time we had sex I would be hooked, which wasn’t the most common scenario, by the way. We were technically off limits to each other since that night, but how could I resist him? I couldn’t explain it and I didn’t want to. I was on the verge of having the most intense orgasm, so I knew he would be ready to release soon after.

“Shiiit! I’m bouta cum!” I moaned aggressively in his ear.

“Me too. Fuck!” he hissed and collapsed on top of me. As much as I enjoyed the sex, I needed to go and he needed to get up. I had to be at work in an hour.

“Get up. I have to go shower before work.”

He rolled off of me to his side of the bed, so I could get ready. As soon as I stood up, I felt like the wind was knocked out of me and fell to the ground.

“Uggh! Oh my god, what is happening?” I screamed out in pain while holding my stomach.

“Oh shit Brooke! You bleeding,” he said with shock written all over his face.

I immediately looked down and my heart sank to my feet. “This can’t be happening,” I whispered to myself with tears in my eyes.

“Pl-please help me to the bathroom,” I struggled to say because I was so choked up.

He helped me into the bathroom, one painful step at a time. As soon as I sat on the toilet, realization slapped me in the face. A huge blood clot and lots of blood seemed to be getting poured into the ceramic bowl. My breathing increased, hands started shaking, and I was crying hysterically.

“What do you want me to do? Should we go to the hospital?” he asked while standing in front of me.

“Y-yes, please, the hospital,” I cried out. This is horrible. What am I going to do? I thought. He went to gather my things, but before he could walk out, I stopped him.

“Can you please call Anthony? Tell him to meet us at Truman as quickly as possible,” I asked while lowering my head. How was I going to explain this to my husband?
